Story
Jax is an adorable Chinese Crested/Yorkie mix looking for a loving home. He weighs 8 pounds and is around 12 years old. Jax is great with cats, kids, and dogs of all sizes. He's a very sweet, social little dog. He loves being with people and will happily snuggle up in bed with you or fall asleep next to you on the couch. Jax loves being in the sun, but because he is mostly hairless, he needs sunscreen and skin protection outdoors, along with lotion to keep his skin moisturized. He can also be a bit of an escape artist and is surprisingly good at climbing, so he should be supervised outside, even with a fence. He isn't overly vocal, but will sing backup if the other dogs start barking. He does try to use pee pads, but he can be prone to marking. He tolerates wearing belly bands well. Medically, Jax's right eye has an immature cataract, and his left eye has a mature cataract. His left eye should be monitored at future vet visits. He may be vision-impaired but he gets around fine! Jax also recently had a bladder stone removed. He's missing quite a few teeth after his dental, so his tongue sticks out sometimes, but he's a great eater! Jax is neutered, up to date on vaccines, has recently had a dental, and has recently had full blood work done. To apply to adopt Jax, please fill out an application at vintagepetrescue.org/adopt

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.LESLIE was originally saved from a high kill shelter in Texas back in April 2017 and adopted to a family in NH in October 2017. Sadly she was picked up as a stray in April 2026 and after finally being able to reach the owner, they told me they do not want her anymore. The owners also told me that she was with a small black chihuahua whom was not with her when caught. Just 5 days of having Leslie back we had her at Androscoggin vets for blood work, dental and rabies. She had 13 teeth extracted, her blood work came back good, she is heartworm and tick disease negative, she had her rabies vaccine, weighs 15 pounds and we are happy she is a healthy girl who is now pain free having all those rotted teeth extracted. Health & Background ✅ Spayed ✅ Rabies and core vaccines up to date ✅ Monthly preventatives ✅ Heartworm and tick tested negative ✅ Microchipped with 24PetWatch ⚖️ Weight 15pounds Estimated date of birth: 22 October 2016 Dental - 13 teeth extracted, teeth cleaned - May 2026 Leslie is a very affectionate girl, she is responsive, walks great on the leash, rides great in the car, takes treats gently, she is food motivated.  Although Leslie, being around 9-10 years old making her a senior she is still a happy active girl and we are looking for a family that is still active and gets out on walks and adventures to ensure this sweet girl gets the best life possible. As a senior, she will need regular vet appointments and her remaining teeth kept clean to keep her mouth healthy and prevent pain and disease. Regular blood work is also recommended to keep an eye on her health. She is medium-long haired and will need to be brushed regular and around her face and private areas groomed. Give a Dog a Home Rescue reached out to the local animal control and lost pet organizations and made it known that Edgar, a small black chihuahua was missing and after several weeks, sightings were reported and he was thankfully caught. Leslie & Edgar were reunited and they are both happy and healthy and ready for their TRUE forever family. Edgar is around 5 years old and we are only looking to keep these best friends together. Leslie & Edgar are available for an adoption fee of $1,000 Adoption Details Location: Dover-Foxcroft, Maine Families must complete and submit an adoption questionnaire. Once approved, you’ll be invited to schedule an appointment to meet Lucy. ⏱️ Applications are generally processed within 24-48 hours Click here to complete the Adoption Questionnaire Want to See More of Leslie? Story
Ellie is a 4-year-old long-haired Chihuahua with a heart as soft as her beautiful fur! This little lady might be a bit shy when you first meet her, but once she warms up, she’s the sweetest cuddle bug you could ever hope for. She loves nothing more than curling up in your lap for a cozy nap or following you around the house to be part of your day. Ellie also enjoys treats, backyard playtime, and hanging out with her furry friends — she’s lived happily with other small dogs and even done great with cats! Story
OTHER PETS: Cookie has been wonderful with the other dogs he's met. He's been both friendly and respectful, even when another dog doesn't seem interested in him. While excited to meet other dogs, he seems to match energy well and knows how to take a hint when he might be showing a little too much energy. [Likely (Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Experience with positive reinforcement or willingness to learn. While Cookie does warm up quickly, he is still timid and unsure with people he's not familiar with. When meeting new people, he should be allowed to approach on his own time, but also wouldn't say no to a few offered treats! He takes treats very gently from people, though he has shown a tendency to resource guard high-value things like bones and his food. [Some Experience]KIDS: Because of Cookie's resource guarding seen at the shelter, his best match would be a home without kids. While his guarding can be managed easily by simply leaving him alone while he eats or enjoys a bone, young kids may be too unpredictable for him to feel comfortable. Trading up is the safest way to remove food and toys when necessary, using something of equal or higher value, this teaches dogs they don't have to lose things they value. [Adults Only]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Cookie hasn't shown much interest in play, but once he's comfortable he'll climb right into your lap and settle down for a nap. He may be a lap dog, but he definitely savors his time outside, especially on a clear spring day! And once he's fully settled into his new home, he may even gain a new interest in playing or toys. A combination of regular, appropriate exercise and mental enrichment such as food puzzles and scent games will help meet his needs. [Couch Potato / Good Walking Buddy]VETERINARY CARE: Cookie arrived at TJO with what is called a `cherry eye` in both eyes. While not an immediate concern at this time, an established relationship with a vet will be important to monitor any changes and keep up with any future care he may need. [Above Average]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Cookie is still at the beginning of his training journey, and will do best learning with someone who can offer patience as he adjusts and decompresses in his new home. Positive reinforcement will help Cookie not only learn his new skills and fun tricks, but also help him to feel more comfortable and confident in himself! It will provide a good opportunity for him to bond with his new owner as well. [Minimal]GROOMING: Routine brushing will help to minimize shedding in the home. [Minimal]June 2, 2026, 6:03 pm
