Story
This is Mimi! Mimi is a 9 year old, 10 pound Chinese Crested who is now available for adoption. Mimi was surrendered when her owner had to go into hospice care. Mimi was surrendered alongside Thor, who is also available for adoption through CRT (they are not bonded, so they do not need to be adopted out together). Mimi’s foster mother says she has a laid-back personality. Mimi is not a big cuddler but will lay next to you on the sofa and loves to be petted. She would make a wonderful companion as she follows you everywhere and just wants to be close to you. She doesn’t tend to play with toys. She is very friendly to new people and is quick to warm up. Mimi is housebroken, walks well on a leash and likes car rides, but is not crazy about being in a crate. It is recommended that Mimi go to a home where she can be the only dog in the house. She is fine in general with other dogs but does get territorial about her personal space. She sleeps in her own bed in her foster mom’s room at night. Mimi loves her bed and does NOT want to share it! We are unsure how Mimi would do around cats but we suspect she would be ok with them. Please be familiar with this breed and their grooming needs if you’re interested in adopting a Chinese Crested. Mimi will require regular combing, bathing and hair trimming as needed and special attention to her skin. She has a good amount of hair on her head, tail and legs but it is sparse on her torso which is normal. Due to her age, Mimi has slight cataracts but seems to see quite well despite that. The vet said that she also has a level 2/6 heart murmur. Mimi is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations and has had a dental very recently. She is heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm prevention. Mimi is microchipped. Mimi’s adoption donation is $400.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. To submit an application go here……chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled. Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative. Reference checks and a home visit are required so SE dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD and GA.

Story
This is Walter! Walter was found as a stray covered in fleas and very thin. He is currently hw negative, neutered, utd on all vacs and preventatives, and much healthier! He walks well on a leash, is mostly houae trained and rides well in the car. Walter is a sweet sweet boy who loves to cuddle, plays fetch, loves the sunshine and wants to be wherever his human is. Walter would do best in a home with one other submissive dog around his size. He loves having a friend to play with but he is a more dominant personality. He is currently in a home with cats and other dogs, and he likes the cats...maybe a little too much. He wants them to play and chases them when they run. It would also be recommended that his future family be familiar with the chihuahua personality. While Walter is actually very friendly with everyone in our family, he does seem partial to females, he is protective of his people(and his food), and is slow to warm up to new people coming into the home. I would not recommend him for small children. All our dogs/cats are vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, on preventions, and spayed/neutered if old enough. Story
Mia is a 2 year old, 10 lb, Chihuahua mix. Mia has started coming out of her shell finally. She is a very sweet girl but takes time to warm up. Her perfect home would be one with people who will give her the time to come to them and not try to rush her to come around. Mia seems to be geared more towards men. She absolutely loves her human foster brother (hes 20 but still lives at home). She gives him kisses and gets excited when he comes home from work or school. She seeks him out for attention. She is comfortable around other dogs once she sees they are friendly. She did better with dogs her size but adjusted pretty well with bigger dogs too. It just took a little longer to adjust. She is learning better leash manners but still has a ways to go. She is learning house training but she usually follows the other dogs outside to potty so she hasnt had many accidents recently. She loves to sleep on a doggie bed or in a fluffy blanket. She has been spayed and has all age appropriate shots. All our dogs/cats are vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, on preventions, and spayed/neutered if old enough.
