Oh, Nyx....where do I begin. This girl is a special one! She came to us when our vet asked us to take in a special needs puppy. Nyx was born with hydrocephalus and the breeder didn't want her so she surrendered Nyx to our vet. Her hydrocephalus doesn't affect her health in any way now but we believe it has affected her personality. Nyx is a very special girl who will need a VERY special adopter. One who is patient and calm and willing to accept Nyx for who she is! Nyx wants affection on her terms but will run from you if you try to pick her up. You have to go low and slow so she won't run from you. Nyx will HAVE to have a fenced in yard for that very reason - if she got out you probably wouldn't get her to come back to you. Nyx likes other dogs but doesn't really know how to play with them and can mean to them when she's just trying to get them to play. We think all of her quirks are a direct result of her hydrocephalus. She can be so loving, but she is definitely a quirky one! Nyx will do best with older children or a quiet household. Tig is fairly new to Bonaparte's Retreat and the best way we can describe her so far as twinkly and sparkly-she is just adorable! She had some skin issues we had checked out but is doing much better and we think her previous owner didn't know how to care for her particular skin type as a Chinese Crested because she is doing much better with her foster! She was an anxious little thing but is warming up and does still have some car anxiety that would need to be worked on so she feels safe and secure. She is very snuggly and sweet and will  make someone a great friend!May 5, 2025, 3:09 pm

SWEET SENIOR CHIHUAHUAS--FOSTER HOME NEEDED ASAP!!   Meet Bella (black) and Buster (tan).  Please don't let them languish in a local shelter or worse.  These two precious seniors now find themselves in need of an immediate foster  home.  Both are sweet as can be and cannot believe their owners just dumped them.  Bella is 14 years old and Buster is 10.  Mom and Dad adopted a younger dog and kicked Bella and Buster to the curb.  Small dogs like these two still have a lot of life to live even at 14.  Please open your heart and your home to save these two.  Critter Cavalry will provide any supplies you need and take care of all the vetting at one of our veterinary partners.  All you need to do is provide a loving home for them while they wait for their forever family to find them.  If you are interested in helping these two precious pups please call or text Vivienne at 615-943-7311 or email viviennejames@comcast.net.April 1, 2025, 6:09 pm

  This mama dog and her six babies need help and just a one foster all together while mama weans the.  At seven weeks, May 10th, we can take them from mama and put them in.Foster homes in pairs.   Currently, mama weighs 10 pounds and babies weigh only one pound.   They will grow to be most likely 10  pound adult dogs and mama is sharing her sweet temperament with all of them.   Critter cavalry will shoulder All the food and medical cost and can supply items to any family that is willing to help.    Please call and text at 615 661 5333 or email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. Wordsworth thinks his name is “Lil Mouse”, bc that’s what my family calls him. He is perfect in every way. He is a SUPER snuggler, goes with me everywhere. He is not a barker unless my dogs bark. He loves having a dog friend, and I think he deserves to have a playmate, but his person is his priority. He is excellent with kids, but shouldn’t necessarily go to a family with tiny kids bc he is SO small that he could be unintentionally hurt - unless they are experienced with tiny dogs and tiny humans and know how to keep him safe from being squished or dropped. He has never growled or shown the slightest hint of being nippy. He has yorkie hair, so he doesn’t shed, but his chi side keeps the hair at one length, so he won’t even need to go to the groomer for trims. He sleeps with me every night, and doesn’t move an inch. He puts his little face against my chest and sleeps all night. If I turn over, he just snuggles up against my back. When we first got him, he had apparently been put into a crate alone all day, so he thought he had to pee in there. It was pitiful. Now he goes into his crate when I can’t watch him, while he’s potty training, and he will let me know if he needs to go out. He always comes when he’s called, but honestly he’s never more than 5 feet from me. He jumps down off of the couch to play with Evie, our Aussie, and then when he’s done, he’s back in my lap. He sleeps in my lap through soccer games, dance class, school drop offs and picks up. I can’t imagine a more PERFECT dog. The adopters will need to work from home or be retired. Since he only weighs 3 lbs, he has a tiny bladder, but more importantly he just doesn’t like being alone. His ONLY flaw is that he gives too many kisses and he has stinky breath. He is 5 months old today.
