Story
CHARITY is currently being fostered in TEXAS. Meet Charity, apx 2 years young and 8 pounds. She is such a scared and nervous girl. Good with other dogs and cats. She bonds quickly with other dogs her size and has been around dogs from 5-25 pounds of all ages. She is nervous around large hyper dogs. We have never heard her bark and she has been here a month. She will not just come to you, but you can baby talk her. Once she is cornered or in her safe space or her favorite bed she will reluctantly allow pets and allow you to pick her up. She does not bite us, but I would not 110% say she would never bite, because she is so fearful I do think if she was cornered, especially by someone very intimidating or small young children that try to grab her very quickly, I can see her nipping possibly. That being said we have had her at the vet, we have done baths, vaccines, ears, nails, give her kisses, hold her, sing her songs, force our love upon her whether she appreciates it or not 🙂 and she has never tried to bite us. She is just scared, freezes and has eyes as big as saucers . She always tries to find a place to hide if she is uncomfortable. She has a sweet nature and soul, we can tell she will be a timid but loving companion with some time and trust. We really think in a home environment she will grow and blossom into a loving furbaby that sits on the couch with her humans and cuddles up in bed. It’s just going to take some time, love and patience. Charity may hold a lot of baggage from her past. She was found pregnant and gave birth at her finders home and all 5 babies died within 24 hours. Then she came to us. We are trying so hard to heal her broken heart and she has come a long way but she really needs a home and a family to reach her true potential and to really feel safe and like part of a family. No young children please and a fenced yard would be ideal. She is not ready to walk on leash and harness but I know one day she will try and probably follow her mama everywhere . Please give her a chance. ❤️ Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. Story
Currently fostered in Texas Please read complete bio. Granny Dixie . We all LOVE this dog because she is certainly quirky and makes us smile. She is apx 10 -12 years old and apx 14 pounds. Granny Dixie is from a high kill shelter here in our town of Pleasanton. She was in rough shape when we got her, but it is very clear that once upon a time someone really loved this dog. She was already spayed and has clearly already had dental work done in the past. She has good potty manners and walks on leash. She LOVES walks. She does have scarring around her neck conducive of being either tied up outside or wearing a collar for too long that was way too tight. She is a bit thin, low muscle mass but already showing improved body composition. She has a good appetite. Her coat was disgustingly dirty and fried from the Texas Sun, she had clearly been outdoors for a while. Her coat is getting softer. She has your typical arthritis in her rear legs but she does not seem in pain. We have never heard Dixie make a sound, never a bark or a whimper or a fuss. She is the most laid back easy peasy dog you could ever ask for. She likes attention but is not needy. She is not a huge fan of being “coddled”. She loves people and loves attention and Baby talk and to be doing whatever it is you’re doing she will follow you everywhere, but she is not really one that adores being picked up or squeezed or her face being kissed all over. She is not a mushy dog lover dog. She does love people though. She is happy being near you she loves when you walk through the door and she does little happy dances. She has a lot of personality in her own way and truly is a southern grandma type . She checks on the other dogs . She will let any dog lay with her . She is just so go with the flow of the day zero anxiety. She would love a low key home without a lot of chaos but I am sure she would be fine with visits from young family members . ***Granny Dixie has some medical we would like to tell you about. She has what are called dermal hemangiomas. A dermal hemangioma is a common, benign (non-cancerous) growth of extra blood vessels in the skin, often appearing as a red or purple "strawberry mark," The vet stated these are mostly non cancerous but the only way to know for sure would be to cut them and biopsy them. Considering her age and the fact that she does not need to go under anesthesia for a spay or dental, we find the risk is worse than the reward in this outcome and do not feel the need to put her under anesthesia to get these biopsied. At her age, even if these were cancerous there is very little anyone would be able to do about it at this point. Pics in comments. Story
Currently fostered in Texas Shadow is apx 1.5 year young and apx18 pounds. He was found running down a street and had a collar on with a phone number. We called and txt the number . After about an hour the “owner” replied stating they were on vacation and apparently left the dog in the back yard with food and water. I asked if they were going to come back to get them and then they blocked me so the answer to that is NO. Poor Shadow. He deserves so much better!! Shadow is a nervous boy for a minute while meeting new people and being in new places but a little baby talk and he is settles in and as soon as you give him pets and kisses, he is now your new bff. He is actually very social and friendly and silly, just weary of strangers for a moment. Who can blame him. Safe to say he was not treated well by his gem of an owner. He has a fluffy tail and a medium length soft coat, he loves to play and is a happy dog but also loves cuddles and is an excellent mix of both playful and chill. He loves all animals and although we don’t have children to test him with I think he would be great with kids. He walks on leash. He keeps his kennel clean but is not 100% potty trained however holds it all night in his kennel Run. He will need a belly band in the house until he gets fully potty trained but he is so people pleasy, I can’t imagine that taking very long.
