Story
Meet Lotus (Lolo)! ❤️ At 10 years young and just 7.5 pounds, Lotus—affectionately known as Lolo—is a tiny sweetheart with a big personality. With her short legs and long body, we think she may be a Chiweenie mix, although she certainly has plenty of Chihuahua charm! Lolo came into rescue through no fault of her own when her loving owner could no longer afford the treatment she needed for seizures. Thanks to proper veterinary care, she is now stable and thriving. She will need lifelong medication, which she happily takes tucked inside a tiny pill pocket. Aside from her well-managed seizures and some mild age-related vision changes, she's in wonderful health. She has also had a dental, been spayed, and had a benign mammary tumour removed. Lolo is equal parts sweet and sassy! She gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home and is good with respectful children, though her tiny size makes her better suited to a home without very young kids. She hasn't been tested with cats. This little lady loves life! She enjoys zoomies, playing fetch with soft toys, and proudly removing every squeaker and bit of stuffing she can find. When playtime is over, she's happiest curled up in your lap giving kisses or snuggled under the blankets beside you at bedtime. Lotus loves sunny days, leisurely walks filled with lots of sniffing, and spending time outdoors. She has good emerging leash manners and is fully house-trained in her foster home, using either the yard or pee pads. Like many dogs, she may need a little patience while adjusting to a new home, but she's a quick learner. Lolo can be vocal when she hears noises or visitors arrive—not because she's unfriendly, but because she'd much rather be picked up for cuddles! Because of this, a detached home would likely suit her better than an apartment or townhouse. If you're looking for a loving little companion with plenty of personality, Lotus is ready to fill your home—and your lap—with love.

Story
Flash is almost the perfect dog. He is friendly, affectionate, incredibly smart, completely housebroken, and not destructive. He loves attention, cuddling up next to his people, and having his own special spot on the couch-preferably with a soft blanket. When Flash is happy to see you, his excitement shows in his whole-body wiggle! He is content to spend hours relaxing and snoozing, but he is equally happy to play or head out for a walk. Flash has a gentle, loving nature and enjoys being part of whatever his people are doing. Flash is the kind of dog who makes himself right at home and brings warmth, companionship, and plenty of personality to a household. He does not enjoy being picked up, he would rather sit beside you than on your lap, and table food does not impress him much, but love and attention definitely do. Important: Flash Is an Escape Artist Flash is remarkably clever and can find or create ways out of surprisingly secure areas. He once escaped by swimming across a lake to a neighbor's property. His new family will want to be aware of his talent for adventure and consider what arrangements will help keep him safe, including secure fencing, carefully monitored outdoor time, and secure equipment for walks. He is happiest when he is with his people, but he can't help his himself! If he sees an escape route is is GONE! Aside from his adventurous streak, Flash is an exceptionally easy, loving companion with a truly wonderful personality. He is affectionate, bright, well behaved, and a joy to have around. Flash has so much to offer the family who welcomes him, and he has all the makings of an amazing family dog. Medical issues: no issues Neck size (for collar): 13 inches Chest circumference (for harness): 21 inches Height (from top of head): 16 inches Length (from nose to base of tail): 26 inches Crate size recommended: medium Good with adults: yes Good with kids: 12 years and older recommended Good with other dogs: yes Good with cats: yes House trained: yes Crate trained: yes, but prefers not being crated Energy level: medium Can be handled/touched: yes Barker: occasional Flight risk: YES!!! Food aggressive: no Current food: Gentle Giant Walks on leash: yes Leash reactive to people or dogs: no Rides well in car: yes Destructive: no Needs a home with a yard: yes, he loves to roll in the grass Needs a home with another dog: he likes dogs, but I think he would be ok as an only dog as well Can live in an apartment: no, he doesn't bark often but when he does it can be loud Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.

AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER TO ADOPT — MEET VIXEN! Short Legs, Big Personality & a Whole Lot of Love! Meet Vixen, an absolutely adorable 2-year-old Basset Hound/Dachshund mix weighing 26 pounds! This sweet little low-rider has the cutest short legs, a big personality, and a heart overflowing with love! Vixen is friendly, affectionate, playful, and ready to find a family to call her very own. A Little About Vixen: Age: 2 years old Breed: Basset Hound/Dachshund Mix Gender: Female Weight: 26 lbs Good with dogs: YES! Good with cats: YES! Good with kids: YES! Crate trained: YES! Leash trained: YES! Housetrained: Currently unknown Energy level: Medium Spayed: YES! What Makes Vixen So Special? Vixen absolutely LOVES her toys, yummy treats, belly rubs, and spending time with her favourite people! She's a playful little girl who enjoys having fun but also appreciates some good old-fashioned love and attention. She's fantastic on car rides, making her a wonderful little adventure buddy! Vixen can be a little vocal when other dogs are around, but hey, she's part hound, and sometimes she's just got something to say! She's also very treat motivated, which is a wonderful bonus when it comes to training. Vixen would love a family who will give her plenty of affection, playtime, daily walks, and a cozy place to curl up at the end of the day. Because of her longer back and shorter legs, her future family should be mindful of excessive jumping and help her maintain a healthy weight. Why Choose Vixen? Because who wouldn't want a sweet, silly, short-legged little companion who loves toys, treats, belly rubs, and being part of the family?
