Chester is a 1-year-old, 9-pound pup who came into the Calexico shelter as a stray. The shelter was overwhelming for him, so he moved into a foster home after about two weeks — and he’s been blossoming ever since. When Chester first arrived, he wasn’t used to human affection and preferred to hide. With patience, he’s learned to trust and now enjoys being close by. He still needs a calm, patient home that will give him the time and space he needs to feel safe. Chester is a sweet, curious little guy who loves the company of other dogs and even lives peacefully with two cats in his foster home. He especially thrives when he has a confident dog friend to show him the ropes — and to romp around with! One of Chester’s favorite things is going on walks. He’s also very food-motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding. He’s a smart boy who’s eager to learn once he feels comfortable. The ideal home for Chester is one that’s quiet and understanding, with a family willing to let him come out of his shell at his own pace.
