Story
Venus is a sweet, smart mixed-breed rescue dog looking for her perfect match. She’s potty trained and does best in a quieter home away from overwhelming stimuli. At home she’s calm and loving — she bonds deeply, is great with toddlers, and coexists peacefully with cats. Once she opens up, she is a loyal and devoted companion. Outside, Venus is leash reactive and does best with an experienced owner who understands anxiety-driven behavior and is committed to training. She takes fluoxetine daily for anxiety and has a bite history, so a patient, knowledgeable adopter is essential. Venus is high energy and needs vigorous daily exercise and mental stimulation to be her best self. She loves treat-based scent games and training — she already knows sit, lay down, and her name, and she’s eager to keep learning. Venus is being rehomed with love by an owner whose chronic illness makes it impossible to meet her needs. She deserves someone who can match her spirit and help her truly flourish.

Story
Opal Chihuahua Spayed female 9 years old, 8 lbs. Opal is a senior chihuahua that tips the scales at 8.5 lbs and would do best in a quiet home (no small children) where she is the only pet. She might be compatible with another dog or cat as long as Opal is not obligated to be friends. She is approximately 9 years old, has been described as having an “old soul” and is somewhat set in her ways. Opal is up to date on all her shots, has a microchip and is house trained. She considers her crate to be her safe place. She knows a few basic commands and prefers women, but will open up to men who "speak" chihuahua. Opal does like to play, once she feels safe. She occasionally gets the “spinners” when she is excited. She is a bit sensitive around her head and neck, so she needs a fenced yard (privacy preferred) because putting a collar or harness on her can be quite stressful for all involved. Opal is not on any medications nor does she have any conditions requiring special foods. If you love when a big attitude comes in a little package, Opal is worth a look!! An adoption form is available at  nebraskanokill.org Suggested adoption donation: $200    January 27, 2026, 8:54 am
