Story
Midnight, a common name for a common black dog....but what about me?? AM I COMMON??? NOPE! I am the lion of dog breeds :) Nothing normal or common about me! Not my beautiful mane OR my beautiful chow chow personality! So I was found in a park, abandoned with my "friends" after my owner died :( LUCKILY i found a rescue who not only LOVES the breed, but also has helped me get healthy (think heartworms and bad skin) but also will find me exactly the right family! (HOPEFULLY in a colder climate!!) I am not a puppy and since I am a single dog home I really would do best without young children or unpredictable adults :) I am a magnificent breed but we are a little picky about our friends and need someone who KNOWS and LOVES my breed.. I am ready for you if you are ready for me.... put in the adoption application!! Local adoption fee is $300 (in TX) OUt of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Story
*hair blowing in the wind (even though she's indoors)* *unexplained sparkles in the air* *faint heavenly music* Yes, she is me. Chloe. Now that you are blinded by my beauty, let me explain why I am the absolute best girl on the inside too and so deserving of your (and everyone's) undivided adoration. I'm loyal, smart as a whip, and FUN, just to name a few. Unfortunately, I didn't come from the most glamorous beginnings. I was an outdoor doggy with not much interaction from birth and my family also left me behind when they moved. Thus, I wasn't really brought up interacting with you humans or being touched/handled. I've had my quirks while adjusting to being a family dog and will definitely need someone patient and understanding with me. (If you get too touchy right away, I don't like that and will try to protect myself.) However, if you are slow and gain my trust I will HANG on your every move. I have adjusted very quickly in the past with proper introductions to people. Even still, I would probably do best in a home without young children. I'm a lady after all and need time to sniff you out before you get grabby. I am an active girl and love to feel the wind in my hair outdoors too. I run with the speed of light and have a prey drive to sniff out bugs, lizards and more. I also love to play tug of war and fetch with my foster mommy inside. I bounce, bounce, bounce all the time! I am great on leash so walks and hikes would be great for me. Getting my energy out will help me focus on training too. I am very smart and learn quickly, but tend to lose interest if I'm still chock full of go, go, go!! With all of this perfection, all of your pet needs should be fulfilled, right? RIGHT? I hope so because I would do great as an only pet in the home. I have been able to co-exist with dogs at the rescue but I am a bit of a diva in my foster home. I have a domineering personality sometimes and will even mark like a male when I come across another dog's scent in my house. How dare they??? Existing? HERE? (She is otherwise house trained.) Considering that you and I know each other a little better now, you may pet me. Yes, I am very soft, I know. Please keep in mind that I am a Chow/shepherd mix and have hair that will require brushing, maybe even the occasional spa treatment, Swedish massage, 24k gold facials...yeahhhhhhhhhh.... Sorry! I forgot you were here. In all seriousness, once I trust you, I will allow you to brush me out without much fuss. It doesn't need to be daily but I am a rough and tumble kinda gal and can use help keeping my locks flowing and free. I also shed so if I seem to be losing my girlish figure, it's probably just extra hair that needs to be brushed off. I hope you have a strong vacuum. ;) I could go on for days about myself, but I'll stop here. Don't wanna overwhelm you. If you think you are up for the challenge of a total spitfire like me, please feel free to send in an application and foster mommy can tell you more about all of the grandeur that is...CHLOE. Local adoption fee is $300 (in TX)

Story
Frida is a goofy, wrinkly-faced girl who has discovered that life can be pretty darn fun! Affectionate, playful, and full of personality, she has the wrinkles, the wiggles, the toys, and an absolutely adorable little “harumph” for just about every occasion. When Frida comes out of her kennel, she's ready to party! She usually grabs a toy, shakes it with tremendous enthusiasm, and races around like she just won the lottery. Her stuffed mammoth is a particular favorite, and she flails it around with impressive determination. She knows how to play fetch, too—although she's still deciding whether outdoor fetch is worth learning. Once the zoomies are out, Frida is happy to become a couch potato. She loves being invited up for cuddles and will happily sit between your legs for some quality snuggle time. Her foster has discovered a hilarious routine: Frida will leave the couch when she's finished getting pets, settle onto her bed, and then stare intensely at her person until she's invited back. Five minutes later, she's apparently forgotten she was the one who left and is ready for another cuddle session. 😂 Frida recently attended an adoption event and did fantastically! She enthusiastically greeted everyone she met, including children of various ages, and absolutely loved being the center of attention. She does have an enthusiasm for life that occasionally outruns her spatial awareness, though, so very young children should be supervised around her excitement. Frida wants everyone to be her best friend—human and animal alike. She's shown playful, excited interest in other dogs and has had some positive, short interactions with her foster's resident dog. Introductions are currently being kept brief and carefully managed while she continues learning appropriate boundaries. The good news is that Frida is very easy to redirect toward toys, treats, or attention when another animal needs a break. She may do well living with another dog or cat with slow introductions and a companion who is comfortable communicating clear boundaries while Frida learns that sometimes “no” means no. Frida is fantastic in her crate and sleeps peacefully there overnight. She can also stay crated during the workday without a problem. She's fully potty trained and has successfully gone overnight and through a 9-hour workday without an accident. She knows some basic commands, including sit and shake with hand signals, and she's always excited when the leash comes out. She's still working on remembering that walks aren't a sled-dog competition, but she's having fun learning! Frida has a few opinions about the world that she's still working through. The dark, for example, is apparently where all sorts of suspicious activities happen, so nighttime potty trips can require a little encouragement. Wet or dewy grass is also highly questionable in her book. She's much more comfortable once she can see what's going on, and her confidence comes right back when she realizes there is, in fact, nothing lurking in the shadows. She's also a bit unsure in unfamiliar situations, but given a moment to investigate, she generally decides that things are probably okay after all. In other words, Frida is brave, but she'd like to conduct a thorough investigation first. She also has a serious case of FOMO and may whine or occasionally bark in her kennel if other animals are getting food or fun without her. Missing out is simply not an option when you're Frida. And Frida has some very strong interior decorating opinions. A blanket in her kennel lasted approximately as long as it took her to discover it before she completely destroyed it. She's perfectly happy with a bare kennel, so apparently minimalist décor is her preferred style. Frida is settling into foster care beautifully, and the more comfortable she gets, the more her playful and cuddly personality comes shining through. She's a sweetheart with a huge personality and enough enthusiasm to keep life interesting. She's ready for a family who will give her plenty of playtime, cuddles, structure, and opportunities to learn—and who will appreciate every wonderfully silly bit of Frida that makes her, well, Frida. ❤️🐶
