Story
Meet Chowder! 🦁 3.5 year old | Chow Chow If you know and love Chow Chows, you'll know there's something truly special about earning the trust of one. Chowder is everything people adore about the breed. Calm, independent, incredibly loyal, and once you've won his heart, he'll love you with his whole. When you first meet Chowder, he may be a little reserved. That's just who he is. Like a true Chow, he prefers to take his time getting to know new people. But once you've become part of his circle, his personality completely changes. He'll greet you with his signature "Chow bounce," happily wagging and bouncing around because his favorite person is finally home. Chowder has a wonderfully laid back personality and enjoys a quieter lifestyle. He's perfectly content relaxing by your side, lounging in the yard taking in all the sights and smells, or stretching out on the couch or bed close to his family. He also loves spending time in his kennel and happily uses it as his own safe place when the door is left open. He's kennel trained, knows his basic commands, and is highly food motivated, making continued training fun and rewarding. He also has a playful side and never says no to a tennis ball or cooling off in a kiddie pool on a warm summer day. Chowder absolutely loves other dogs and would enjoy having a canine companion around his own size with a similar energy level. Because he's never lived with cats, we're looking for a cat free home. He's also never been around children, so we think he'd be happiest in an adult home where life is a little quieter and more predictable. As with many independent breeds, Chowder isn't a dog who can be trusted off leash. He enjoys leisurely walks and exploring the outdoors, but he'll need to stay on leash anytime he's outside of a securely fenced yard. A fenced yard where he can safely lounge, patrol, and enjoy the fresh air would be a dream come true. Because Chowder is such a wonderful example of his breed, we're looking for a home with previous Chow Chow experience or someone who truly understands and appreciates the unique personality that comes with them. If you're looking for a calm, incredibly loyal companion who will quietly become your shadow and reward your patience with a lifetime of devotion, Chowder is ready to find his person. ❤️

Story
Midnight, a common name for a common black dog....but what about me?? AM I COMMON??? NOPE! I am the lion of dog breeds :) Nothing normal or common about me! Not my beautiful mane OR my beautiful chow chow personality! So I was found in a park, abandoned with my "friends" after my owner died :( LUCKILY i found a rescue who not only LOVES the breed, but also has helped me get healthy (think heartworms and bad skin) but also will find me exactly the right family! (HOPEFULLY in a colder climate!!) I am not a puppy and since I am a single dog home I really would do best without young children or unpredictable adults :) I am a magnificent breed but we are a little picky about our friends and need someone who KNOWS and LOVES my breed.. I am ready for you if you are ready for me.... put in the adoption application!! Local adoption fee is $300 (in TX) OUt of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Story
*hair blowing in the wind (even though she's indoors)* *unexplained sparkles in the air* *faint heavenly music* Yes, she is me. Chloe. Now that you are blinded by my beauty, let me explain why I am the absolute best girl on the inside too and so deserving of your (and everyone's) undivided adoration. I'm loyal, smart as a whip, and FUN, just to name a few. Unfortunately, I didn't come from the most glamorous beginnings. I was an outdoor doggy with not much interaction from birth and my family also left me behind when they moved. Thus, I wasn't really brought up interacting with you humans or being touched/handled. I've had my quirks while adjusting to being a family dog and will definitely need someone patient and understanding with me. (If you get too touchy right away, I don't like that and will try to protect myself.) However, if you are slow and gain my trust I will HANG on your every move. I have adjusted very quickly in the past with proper introductions to people. Even still, I would probably do best in a home without young children. I'm a lady after all and need time to sniff you out before you get grabby. I am an active girl and love to feel the wind in my hair outdoors too. I run with the speed of light and have a prey drive to sniff out bugs, lizards and more. I also love to play tug of war and fetch with my foster mommy inside. I bounce, bounce, bounce all the time! I am great on leash so walks and hikes would be great for me. Getting my energy out will help me focus on training too. I am very smart and learn quickly, but tend to lose interest if I'm still chock full of go, go, go!! With all of this perfection, all of your pet needs should be fulfilled, right? RIGHT? I hope so because I would do great as an only pet in the home. I have been able to co-exist with dogs at the rescue but I am a bit of a diva in my foster home. I have a domineering personality sometimes and will even mark like a male when I come across another dog's scent in my house. How dare they??? Existing? HERE? (She is otherwise house trained.) Considering that you and I know each other a little better now, you may pet me. Yes, I am very soft, I know. Please keep in mind that I am a Chow/shepherd mix and have hair that will require brushing, maybe even the occasional spa treatment, Swedish massage, 24k gold facials...yeahhhhhhhhhh.... Sorry! I forgot you were here. In all seriousness, once I trust you, I will allow you to brush me out without much fuss. It doesn't need to be daily but I am a rough and tumble kinda gal and can use help keeping my locks flowing and free. I also shed so if I seem to be losing my girlish figure, it's probably just extra hair that needs to be brushed off. I hope you have a strong vacuum. ;) I could go on for days about myself, but I'll stop here. Don't wanna overwhelm you. If you think you are up for the challenge of a total spitfire like me, please feel free to send in an application and foster mommy can tell you more about all of the grandeur that is...CHLOE. Local adoption fee is $300 (in TX)
