Did you see who arrived at PALS!!?? His name is Winslow. When he came to us he was very scared, in very rough shape and was an outside dog. It took him a little bit to warm up to us, but now he is a bundle of joy. He needs a family that is active and that has a big fenced in yard. He also loves long walks and running in the yard. He always has a big smile on his face especially when he gets new toys! Winslow can't wait to have a family that will treat him like a king. Please come meet this handsome boy before he is gone! Winslow's $200 Adoption Fee is quite inclusive. He is neutered, vaccinated-to-date, micro-chipped, wormed & current on monthly heartworm preventative. Winslow's estimated date of birth is 4/5/2021. We show our dogs by appointment only. If you are interested in meeting Black Jack, Please fill out our online dog adoption application at kcpaws.org link to application:https://form.jotform.com/230296113596155 After spending the majority of his life living outside, in poor conditions, and often covered in severe matting, Black Jack is finally ready for a forever home!  Black Jack bonds fiercely to his people and will follow you and always want to be by your side. He rides great in the car, loves walks, and does great for grooming.  Black Jack had to be shaved all the way down due to being severely matted for years, so his hair may never fully grow all the way back. It it extremely important to us that whoever adopts him will get him groomed regularly and understands the importance of keeping him clean and brushed.  Black Jack gets along well with most dogs and even small dogs, the only dogs he's had any issues with have been large dominant male dogs. He does need a home with no cats. We are so determined to help Black Jack find his forever home that we’ve partnered with Petfinder Foundation and they’ve not only sponsored his adoption fee, next year’s vaccines have been covered, he will come with a years worth of heartworm prevention, and will come with a bed, crate, and anything else he might need! Black Jack has lived a hard life and deserves a home where he will be spoiled and showered with love.   June 5, 2023, 12:40 pm

Phillip is a 9 year old gentleman who came to KC Pet Project for the second time. He has been staying with a foster family with two dogs who are really enjoying his company. He is very gentle and wants to be with his people. Phillip prefers the company of the teenage human, but recognizes the mom of the house as alpha. Of the dogs we have fostered, he is the one we have all enjoyed most. Phillip is house trained and does not do his business in his kennel. He was originally avoidant of his kennel but quiet once in. He has access to his kennel and does spend time there now. As long as he has access to the outside, he will do his business and does not have accidents in the house. We are planning to train him to use a bell to communicate. Phillip was shot with a pellet gun and sustained an injury to one of his feet that required the removal of a toe. He is recovering from these injuries well. Phillip does seem to have arthritis and is taking medication to control his pain. If you are worried about a long term commitment but want the love of an amazing dog, this is the guy for you. His cost of care is relatively low, canine arthritis medication can be found over the counter. He is in great shape for his age, carrying the normal old man ailments. He would be a great companion to any person wanting security because he will alert to any unexpected visitors. He would probably prefer a home with other dogs or tons of human attention. He does not seem to have a strong prey instinct so I think he would do well in a home with cats, but this is not confirmed. I can't say enough about this "young" man and hope you will consider adding him to your family, you won't regret it. Phillip is living in a foster home where we are learning more about him. Van Gogh is a handsome boy looking for a forever home. His favorite thing is to laze about the house. He enjoys a short walk but is not interested in runs or hikes. He is housetrained and crate trained. Van Gogh does like to play with people. Due to his size he would be a good fit for kids over 10; little kids might be overwhelming. He is picky about his dog friends so would need to meet any dogs living in your home. Van Gogh would prefer a home with no cats. If you are looking for a dog to hang out and watch movies or play video games, Van Gogh is your boy.Van Gogh is currently in a foster home. *hair blowing in the wind (even though she's indoors)* *unexplained sparkles in the air* *faint heavenly music* Yes, she is me. Chloe. Now that you are blinded by my beauty, let me explain why I am the absolute best girl on the inside too and so deserving of your (and everyone's) undivided adoration. I'm loyal, smart as a whip, and FUN, just to name a few. Unfortunately, I didn't come from the most glamorous beginnings. I was an outdoor doggy with not much interaction from birth and my family also left me behind when they moved. Thus, I wasn't really brought up interacting with you humans or being touched/handled. I've had my quirks while adjusting to being a family dog and will definitely need someone patient and understanding with me. (If you get too touchy right away, I don't like that and will try to protect myself.) However, if you are slow and gain my trust I will HANG on your every move. I have adjusted very quickly in the past with proper introductions to people. Even still, I would probably do best in a home without young children. I'm a lady after all and need time to sniff you out before you get grabby. I am an active girl and love to feel the wind in my hair outdoors too. I run with the speed of light and have a prey drive to sniff out bugs, lizards and more. I also love to play tug of war and fetch with my foster mommy inside. I bounce, bounce, bounce all the time! I am great on leash so walks and hikes would be great for me. Getting my energy out will help me focus on training too. I am very smart and learn quickly, but tend to lose interest if I'm still chock full of go, go, go!! With all of this perfection, all of your pet needs should be fulfilled, right? RIGHT? I hope so because I would do great as an only pet in the home. I have been able to co-exist with dogs at the rescue but I am a bit of a diva in my foster home. I have a domineering personality sometimes and will even mark like a male when I come across another dog's scent in my house. How dare they??? Existing? HERE? (She is otherwise house trained.) Considering that you and I know each other a little better now, you may pet me. Yes, I am very soft, I know. Please keep in mind that I am a Chow/shepherd mix and have hair that will require brushing, maybe even the occasional spa treatment, Swedish massage, 24k gold facials...yeahhhhhhhhhh.... Sorry! I forgot you were here. In all seriousness, once I trust you, I will allow you to brush me out without much fuss. It doesn't need to be daily but I am a rough and tumble kinda gal and can use help keeping my locks flowing and free. I also shed so if I seem to be losing my girlish figure, it's probably just extra hair that needs to be brushed off. I hope you have a strong vacuum. ;) I could go on for days about myself, but I'll stop here. Don't wanna overwhelm you.
