Fiona is a beautiful 9-year-old Chow Chow mix with the softest, fluffiest coat and an even sweeter personality. This lovely dog enjoys taking life at her own pace and is happiest exploring the world one sniff at a time. On walks, you`ll usually find her following her nose, taking in all the exciting scents around her. Fiona already knows sit and paw, and she`s always happy to show off her manners for a treat or a little praise. While she`s affectionate and gentle, she also has an independent side that makes her an easygoing companion. Fiona would enjoy being the only pet in the home so she can soak up all the love. She is also open to meeting kids 8+ so, whether you`re looking for a laid-back walking buddy or a fluffy best friend to share your days with, Fiona is ready to fill that role. If you are interested in adopting, please visit Women`s Animal Center to fill out an application in person. Looking for a loving, experienced home for Lucy Lucy is a well-trained dog who walks on leash and has the intelligence and determination that come with being a chow. She’s curious, strong-willed, and likes to investigate whatever catches her attention, so she needs an experienced person who can give her patient, consistent guidance. Lucy needs a secure, well-fenced yard. She’s a dedicated explorer and may try to get out if she sees something she wants to reach. She prefers outside for the day when weather allows. She also has a high prey drive, so she’ll need to be managed carefully around cats/small animals. Lucy can get along with other dogs when food isn’t involved, but she guards her food. For everyone’s safety, she needs to be the only animal in the home. Her owner’s health issues have made it necessary to find Lucy a new home. We’re hoping to find someone who understands her needs and can give her the structure, security, and care she deserves.

Story
TYRON is a 5 year old Chow Chow / German Shepherd who came to us when his owner’s living arrangements changed. He flunked the intake exam at several other shelters so here he is and we are still trying to figure him out. Tyron is a big boy! He doesn’t like a lot of physical touch but he LOVES his walks! Tyron will allow us to briefly brush his top line and pull out a few puffs but he is generally grumbly with handling and we fully sedated him at the vet for his spring shave. Tyron appears to want to play with other dogs and his previous owner took him to the dog park (which we don’t recommend but it does show that he may be fine living with another pup). Tyron needs an experienced dog savvy family who can work around his quirks to make him be all the dog he can be. We are looking for an adult-only home within reasonable driving distance so that we can facilitate several meet and greets and slowly integrate Tyron into your home. Tyron has been vaccinated, tested negative for heartworms and tick borne diseases, is microchipped and neutered.
