Story
Meet Appa! Appa is the sweetest little guy with a whole lot of love to give! He’s wonderful with other dogs and cats, and he previously lived in a home with children. He’s potty trained, has great house manners, and doesn’t bother visitors. He can even use a designated potty spot when getting outside isn’t possible. Talk about a good boy! A few things Appa’s future family should know: • He’s still working on his leash skills and seems much more accustomed to running and playing off-leash in a yard. • He LOVES car rides! • He is VERY food motivated and will do just about anything for a tasty treat. • He’s a little counter surfer, so he’ll need some help learning to keep those paws on the floor. • Crates and grooming aren’t exactly his favorite things, but he does well loose in the house. • He’s also a self-appointed security officer who will alert you if a dangerous blinking light or suspicious leaf blows past the door. Appa is incredibly lovable, easygoing, and ready to be someone’s very best little buddy. ********************************************************************* Schedule a meet-and-greet by completing our Adoption Survey on the Adopt page of our website at https://www.olddominionhumanesociety.org/adoption-survey. 🌟 Meet Portia—Your New Best Friend in Waiting 🌟 Portia’s journey hasn’t been the easiest, but her heart is still as big and bright as ever. Adopted almost two years ago, she recently found herself back in search of a forever home due to unforeseen changes in her previous family’s life. None of it was her fault—life just got complicated. Now she’s boarding at Animal Friends’ Pampered Paws, where she has quickly become a staff favorite. 🐾 What Makes Portia Special Daycare Queen: She LOVES daycare and participates every single day. Playtime is her happy place. Dog Social Butterfly: She gets along beautifully with other dogs. Cat-Friendly: She lived peacefully with cats. Chicken… not so much: She cannot live with chickens (she thinks they’re too interesting). People & Kid Approved: Sweet, gentle, and affectionate with humans of all ages. Obedient & Smart: She listens well—though she does expect a little bribery when it’s time to come inside. Outdoor Enthusiast: Playing outside is her absolute favorite activity. House & Crate Trained: She’s got the basics down perfectly. A Total Sweetheart: Staff at the pet resort adore her, and it’s easy to see why. 💛 Why She’s Waiting Portia hasn’t lost hope. She’s ready—truly ready—for a family who will love her, play with her, and give her the stability she deserves. She has so much love to give, and she’s eager to share it with someone special. 🏡 Could That Someone Be You If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, affectionate companion who will brighten your days and melt your heart, Portia might just be the perfect match.

Story
Belle has been part of our family since she was 3 months old and is now 17 months. She is a loving cuddle bug with lots of energy, who loves her people and exploring outside. She is wonderful with our other dog, loves having a canine playmate, and is curious about cats. Her favorite things include sniffing adventures, running and playing, and relaxing in the sunshine.Belle is young, strong, and energetic and would thrive with a fenced yard or an active family who can give her plenty of exercise and adventures. This is an incredibly difficult decision for our family, and Belle has done nothing wrong. Changes in my health mean I can no longer give her the active life she deserves, especially without a fenced yard.I hope to find Belle a home where she can run, explore, play, cuddle, lie in the sunshine, and be adored. She has so much love to give, and we're looking for the right home where she can have the happy, active life she deserves with people who will love her as much as we do.

Story
Hey there — I'm Jax, a striking 3-year-old Husky-Chow mix with a bold black and white coat and a spotted tongue to match! 🐕 I'm neutered, energetic, and always ready for adventure — I've got the brains to match my brawn, though I'll happily talk back and tell you exactly what I think. I do best with older kids, a fenced yard (I'm crafty about escapes!), and owners who don't mind a little mouthy play or a vocal pup who's got plenty to say. 😄 I'm great on leash and love having other dogs around, but I'll need patience with house-training and a gentle touch around my neck and head. Come meet this clever, loyal goofball and see if we're the perfect match! 🐾
