Story
At just 3 months old, Ying Yang is already proving that she's got all the ingredients to become an incredible family dog. This beautiful puppy transferred to BENCHS from another shelter and has quickly won us over with her sweet, curious personality. While we've listed a breed mix as our best guess based on her appearance, the truth is we have no idea what breeds make up this adorable little girl. Whatever she is, she's 100% good girl. Ying Yang approaches life with confidence and enthusiasm, always ready to explore something new or make another friend. She enjoys meeting new people and takes on new experiences with the kind of curiosity that makes puppyhood so much fun. One thing that's clear is that Ying Yang absolutely loves other dogs. She's spent her entire life surrounded by canine companions and is wonderfully social with them. Because of that, we think she would make an excellent addition to a home that's looking to add a second or even third dog to the family. She seems to thrive when she has four-legged friends to learn from, wrestle with, and play alongside. Ying Yang is growing quickly, so her future family should be ready for all the adventures that come with raising a large, active puppy. She's very food motivated, loves working for treats, and is already learning "sit," catching on quickly with positive reinforcement. She also loves Kong toys, enjoys a good belly rub, and is always happy to soak up affection from her people. While we haven't had the opportunity to see how Ying Yang does with cats, we think she would likely do well with a thoughtful, slow introduction. As with any puppy, continued training, socialization, and positive experiences will help her grow into a well-rounded adult dog. Ying Yang is looking for a loving indoor home where she can be a true member of the family, continue learning, and enjoy all the comforts that every puppy deserves. If you're looking for a confident, affectionate puppy who's eager to learn, loves other dogs, and is ready to become your next adventure buddy, Ying Yang just might be the perfect fit.

She has adjusted well and spends time with us everywhere. She loves the sun and being outside.    Bettie is very food motivated, so treats win her heart. She is eager to try new things and meet new people. When meeting new people, she needs someone who is slow and gets down to her level. She doesn't like loud noises or movements. She is still working on leashes, but likes walks. She loves to run!   It's been a joy creating a space for Bettie’s personality to come out.    About Me: Hello! My name is Bettie, my foster family calls me Bettie boop. I am the sweetest little girl. I'm gentle, kind, and curious. I'm still a puppy, so I have some energy, but only after I warm up to my environment. I have a background that makes me a little skittish around loud noises and movements. Therefore I need someone who is patient and kind, but once I'm comfortable, I'll be the best walking, snuggling or any adventure loving pup! I do well with other dogs in the house, but can also be by myself.    I love cuddles, especially on blankets and beds. I am house trained, and crate trained. I like playing, but only when I'm ready. I eat separately from my foster brothers, but I'm a good eater! I'm trying so many new things like couches and beds!     My foster parents are my favorite. They give me treats and pets whenever I ask. I love to run and snuggle. I spend my days soaking in the sun and playing. My one eye doesn't hold me back from experiencing all these new things and can't wait to find my forever home.   July 24, 2026, 8:06 pm

This little shadow loves being close to her people and will happily follow you from room to room. Her favorite place to be is outside, where she can stretch out in the grass, soak up the sunshine, and chase butterflies around the yard. Reba is a smart girl who is already learning commands such as “no,” “sit,” “inside,” and “lay down.” She is doing wonderfully with potty training and is sleeping through the night in her kennel with only minimal potty breaks. She’s also a great listener and is eager to learn. Like many young puppies, she is still working on keeping all four paws on the ground, walking politely on a leash, and not nipping when she gets overly excited. When she’s not exploring the backyard, Reba enjoys chewing on bones, playing tug-of-war, munching on treats, and carrying around stuffed animals—especially if they happen to belong to the kids! She absolutely adores her foster dog sibling and spends much of her time running alongside her, roughhousing, and following her wherever she goes. Reba is currently living in a home with two young children, a resident dog, and a cat, and she has access to a large fenced backyard where she loves to wander and play. Because she is still learning boundaries and can get excited, she would likely do best with a family with older children who can help reinforce her training and continue building her confidence. If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, and outdoorsy companion who will be your constant sidekick, Reba may be the perfect addition to your family!   About Me:  Hi! My name is Reba.  I’m a fun, energetic girl who loves being with my people. Since I was found as a stray, I spent much of my early life outdoors, so it’s still my favorite place to be. You’ll usually find me soaking up the sunshine, running around the yard with my foster sister, chasing butterflies, or happily chewing on a bone. One of my favorite things to do is sit at my foster parents’ feet and look up at them. They give the best pets, tell me what a “good girl” I am, and make me feel so loved. I’m a smart pup and have learned that when I hear “sit” or “kennel up,” I usually earn a tasty treat. I’m learning new things every day and can’t wait to keep showing everyone what a good girl I can be. I’m so excited to find my forever family—one that will love me as much as I’ll love them. I can’t wait to meet you!  Name: Reik Age: Puppy, DOB: 4/18/26 Gender: Male Breed: Hound /Lab mix Weight: 12 lbs Dog Friendly: Yes Cat Friendly: Yes  Child Friendly: Yes House Trained: In progress, puppy doing well with routine! Crate Trained: Yes Energy Level: Puppy Temperament: Playful, social, friendly, smart Requirements: Not rental appropriate, can transfer to adoptive home on or after August 21st  Adoption Fee: $550 + tax To adopt, go to:   www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html From the Foster Family:  This sweet puppy is full of personality and loves to stay busy! Favorite activities include carrying around sticks, playing with stuffed toys, and an enthusiastic game of tug-of-war. He's always ready to chase the resident dog around the yard and then happily climb into the foster mom's lap for cuddles and attention. If there's something nearby, there's a good chance he'll give it a lick—this curious pup loves exploring the world one sniff and lick at a time!  Leash walks are going great, and they're gaining confidence every day. Potty training is also progressing well, especially with a consistent routine. This smart, affectionate puppy is eager to learn and would thrive in a home that will continue providing love, playtime, and positive reinforcement. He is very good about going into his kennel with no issue. He sleeps in his kennel at night and goes in during the day. He gets to see his puppy sitter for potty and playtime in the middle of the day. And more play time after dinner in the evening. If you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate companion who will keep you smiling, this puppy could be the perfect addition to your family! About Me: I was so lucky to get to come to MN from Alabama for a great life with a new family. That van ride took a long time, but I don't  mind being on the open road. I don't  mind the peace and quiet at my foster home. I am learning the ropes around here by following everyone around. I keep my eyes on the resident dog to see what he's up to most of the time. He lets me know when I'm  being a bother, but I think he likes me. We do play together often. I love all the sticks in the yard and I love to find the biggest one to drag around.  After a good play session I like to cuddle up with my foster mom in the recliner and take a snooze.
