How are you? I’m good, what’s that? Do you have treats? A burger? Cheese? Whatever it is, it smells good. Oh, you don’t know me? I’m Ferris, I’m ready to be your best friend, and we can share treats! I love treats. What do you love? Do you have kids? I’m currently living with little furless beings, one kinda stinks sometimes, but he’s my best friend, he feeds me all his snacks, and is always ready to throw a toy for me!!  The bigger but still small furless children love to play and snuggle - that’s my FAVORITE thing to do! My foster mama says I’m good at using my voice to let you know exactly how I’m feeling! People at the door? No need to worry, I’ll make sure you’re safe by letting you know! I need to go outside? No need to wonder, trust me, I’ll let you know.  You may have noticed I look like I have a bad haircut. I came from the outside world and wasn’t treated very nicely, but I’m growing stubbles and enjoying a less itchy life thanks to a daily dose of peanut butter! It tastes kinda funky, and I try to spit the chunk out, but my mama says it’s a pill called Apoquel? And I need it because things make me itchy, I guess. She says I gots allergies. So I’ll keep taking it because mamma knows best!   Did you know she protects me from these squawking feathered creatures? She calls ‘em chickens that randomly show up sometimes, I’m not sure how to feel about them, so I try to stay away.  Anyways, enough about me! What about you? Can we meet, and I can be your new best friend so we can snuggle, go on walking adventures, and most importantly, you can share treats with me?   May 19, 2025, 9:08 pm

Story
Name:  Nesta Age:  1 year Weight:  30 lbs Gender:  Fem ale Breed:  Beagle/Terrier mix Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Testing available upon request Child friendly: Yes, older teenage children, please House trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Temperament:  Cautious, sweet, and playful Energy Level: Moderate Requirement: Not suited for apartment living, but would thrive in a town home or condo Adoption Fee: 400+tax To adopt, go to:  www.mendingspirits.org/apply- From her foster family: Nesta is a young Brindle Beagle/Terrier mix with a surprisingly cautious nature for her age. While many puppies are fearless explorers, Nesta tends to approach the world with a more measured pace. She’s not the first to rush into new situations or greet unfamiliar faces; instead, she likes to observe from a safe distance before deciding if it's worth her attention. Her brindle coat, with its striking mix of dark stripes and golden hues, perfectly complements her personality—subtle, with an underlying strength that emerges when she feels confident. Nesta's cautious nature doesn’t mean she isn’t playful—far from it. When she feels comfortable, she can turn into a joyful little companion, eager to join in games and fun. However, she prefers to build trust before diving into the action. Whether it's meeting a new dog or walking through a busy park, she will take a moment to assess the environment, ensuring that it feels safe before she lets her guard down. Despite her more reserved approach, Nesta’s loyalty is undeniable. Once she forms a bond with her family, she becomes incredibly affectionate, seeking out attention with her signature gentle nuzzles and inquisitive head tilts. Her cautiousness gives her a sweet, thoughtful quality—she’s a dog who values security and routine, and once she knows she’s in a safe, loving environment, her personality shines through in little bursts of happiness. She has a lot of puppy energy, but when she is done playing for the day, she is ready for cozy snuggling.  From Nesta: I don’t rush into things. I like to take my time, figuring out if something feels right. When I walk into new places, I’ll hang back for a bit and watch—people, dogs, the way the world moves. It’s not that I’m scared; I just like to be sure. Once I know things are okay, I’m all in. My humans? They’re the best. I know their voices, their scents, and I trust them with everything. When I curl up next to them, everything feels safe. The world can be big, and I’m still figuring it all out, but as long as they’re near, I feel like I can handle whatever comes my way. I’m not one for wild adventures, but I’ll never turn down a cozy moment with my favorite people or a quiet nap in a sunny spot.May 22, 2025, 9:02 pm

Story
Meet Buddy Almost Home Foster Kennels, MN Lic. 132328 is a 501c3, not-for-profit, foster-based, rescue organization. AHFK is located in SE Minnesota in the Austin/Albert Lea area. AHFK is primarily a Beagle and small dog rescue. Our focus is to pull from High-Kill Shelters and to save those dogs that are at risk of euthanasia. All AHFK adoptions require an approved, completed application, a Veterinarian and Personal Reference Check, a smoke-free environment, and a home visit. Buddy's adoption fee is $300.00 All our dogs are completely vetted, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. We are currently accepting applications for Buddy. Buddy was surrendered to a Veterinary clinic in the Tulsa OK area. His owner had moved, out of country, and left Buddy with family members. The family did not want Buddy and surrendered him for euthanasia. The veterinary staff could not euthanize Buddy and kept him in a crate until they could find a rescue or adopter. Buddy lived in this crate for 40 days. Buddy needs a securely fenced yard as he loves to visit nearby neighbors and confiscate articles of property that do not belong to him. Buddy needs a human that will have time, patience, and love for him. He has been neglected and allowed to roam freely. He needs a routine and structure. He loves to be outside and thoroughly enjoys leash walking. Buddy shows some issues with resource guarding with other dogs. He has been through training and his new owner will have to carry through with positive reinforcement. We have not had an issue with guarding against humans. Buddy is of the Beagle breed, a natural hunter, therefore, we are looking for a home with a securely fenced yard and a family with one Pet Parent that is a stay-at-home parent, or one which works from home; a family that can help Buddy acclimate to her new surroundings and environment with compassion, love, and patience. Please allow 6-8 weeks for Buddy to acclimate to the changes in his life. We would also like Buddy to be the only dog. Meet and greets are scheduled upon approved, completed application. If interested in meeting Buddy, please complete the application found on our website: almosthomefoster.com
