Name: Chance Age: 1 ½ years (March 2024) Gender: Male  Breed: Beagle/Coonhound Mix Weight: 53 lbs Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Testing available upon request Child friendly: Older school-aged children, please House trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Energy level: Moderate/low Temperament: Calm, Friendly Home Requirements: Not apartment-appropriate; could be suitable for a duplex or condo Adoption Fee: $400 + tax To adopt, go to:   www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html  All I need is one person to say “you’re home.” Could that be you? Hi friends! My name is Chance, and I’m a sweet, soulful 1½-year-old Beagle/Coonhound mix with a heart as big as my floppy ears. I’m searching for my forever home—the place where I can finally settle in, feel safe, and love my people with everything I’ve got. I’m a playful, affectionate boy who absolutely lives for toys, cozy snuggles, and quality time with my humans. I haven’t met a person I don’t adore yet, and I’m always ready to lean in for a good neck scratch or curl up beside you after a day of fun. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will greet you with a wagging tail and endless love, I might just be your guy. Not long ago, I took a big leap of faith and traveled all the way from Alabama to Minnesota with a few shelter friends, hoping my forever family would be waiting here. I’m loving the fresh air and new adventures! My instincts truly shine outdoors—I follow my nose everywhere, happily sniffing and exploring the world around me. A fenced yard where I can run, play, and investigate all the exciting scents would be a dream come true for me. I’m kennel trained, great on a leash, and a surprisingly quiet companion—not much of a barker at all. Walks are something I really enjoy, and I’m continuing to show just how well-mannered I can be. I get along wonderfully with other dogs and love making new canine friends.  I do have one small health note to share: I had bladder stones once in the past, but since being switched to Hill’s Science Diet C/D, I’ve had no further issues. The food is affordable, easy to find, and helps keep me healthy so I can focus on what I do best—being a happy, loving dog. All I’m really missing now is you. A family to call my own. A couch to snuggle on. A yard to explore. A heart to love forever. If you’re ready for a playful, devoted companion who will brighten your days and fill your home with joy, laughter, and unconditional love… will you give me a Chance at my forever home?           January 12, 2026, 12:13 pm

Story
Meet Buddy Almost Home Foster Kennels, MN Lic. 132328 is a 501c3, not-for-profit, foster-based, rescue organization. AHFK is located in SE Minnesota in the Austin/Albert Lea area. AHFK is primarily a Beagle and small dog rescue. Our focus is to pull from High-Kill Shelters and to save those dogs that are at risk of euthanasia. All AHFK adoptions require an approved, completed application, a Veterinarian and Personal Reference Check, a smoke-free environment, and a home visit. Buddy's adoption fee is $300.00 All our dogs are completely vetted, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. We are currently accepting applications for Buddy. Buddy was surrendered to a Veterinary clinic in the Tulsa OK area. His owner had moved, out of country, and left Buddy with family members. The family did not want Buddy and surrendered him for euthanasia. The veterinary staff could not euthanize Buddy and kept him in a crate until they could find a rescue or adopter. Buddy lived in this crate for 40 days. Buddy needs a securely fenced yard as he loves to visit nearby neighbors and confiscate articles of property that do not belong to him. Buddy needs a human that will have time, patience, and love for him. He has been neglected and allowed to roam freely. He needs a routine and structure. He loves to be outside and thoroughly enjoys leash walking. Buddy shows some issues with resource guarding with other dogs. He has been through training and his new owner will have to carry through with positive reinforcement. We have not had an issue with guarding against humans. Buddy is of the Beagle breed, a natural hunter, therefore, we are looking for a home with a securely fenced yard and a family with one Pet Parent that is a stay-at-home parent, or one which works from home; a family that can help Buddy acclimate to her new surroundings and environment with compassion, love, and patience. Please allow 6-8 weeks for Buddy to acclimate to the changes in his life. We would also like Buddy to be the only dog. Meet and greets are scheduled upon approved, completed application. If interested in meeting Buddy, please complete the application found on our website: almosthomefoster.com
