Story
Meet Cruiser, an adorable 7-year-old Coton de Tuléar looking for the right person to spend the rest of his life with. Cruiser is a very loved dog whose world has revolved around his person since puppyhood. Due to a complicated change in circumstances, his owner is making the difficult and selfless decision to find him a new home where he will continue to receive the love and care he deserves. This will be a big transition for Cruiser, so finding the right match is especially important.
A LITTLE ABOUT CRUISER:
7-year-old male Coton de Tuléar, a breed similar to a Bichon Frise
Hypoallergenic and non-shedding
Neutered, house-trained, crate trained and up to date on vaccinations
Well-mannered in the home and comfortable in his crate
Great in the car and enjoys leash walks
Gets along wonderfully with his resident cat
Has done well meeting new people when given the opportunity to settle in
Good with respectful children
Has enjoyed meeting smaller, friendly dogs and has even initiated play even though he has only lived as a solo dog
Accustomed to daily tooth brushing, nail trims, and regular grooming and will need professional grooming regularly
WHAT KIND OF HOME DOES CRUISER NEED?
*Cruiser has lived a sheltered life as an only dog and is very attached to his person. He can be anxious around unfamiliar people, particularly when visitors enter his home, and may bark until he feels comfortable. He can also be uncertain around unfamiliar dogs, especially larger ones.
*Cruiser does well with a calm, confident human leader. He looks to his person for direction and does well meeting new people, enjoyed his leash walk, and showed a playful side with smaller dogs.
*Cruiser would benefit from an experienced, kind adopter who understands that confidence takes time to build. He needs someone who will introduce him gradually to new people, dogs, and experiences while allowing him to adjust at his own pace.
*His ideal home would be with someone who is home often, enjoys an active lifestyle, and is committed to helping him become more comfortable in the world around him. A home with a cat is a possibility, and he would do well with a compatible, friendly smaller dog following proper introductions
*He has only had negative experiences with men so they are scary to him. In time he may overcome this with a patient, kind man, but an all female home would be ideal.
*Cruiser has been exceptionally well cared for. His new owner must also be committed to regular professional grooming to maintain his beautiful coat.
