Story
Meet Harley and Marvel, a devoted duo currently in Woodstock Valley, CT! Harley is a sweet eight-and-a-half-year-old Cockapoo with soulful eyes and a velvety black coat, while Marvel is her dashing almost eight-year-old Miniature Schnauzer sidekick, dressed in silver-gray and always ready to make you laugh with his charmingly goose-like bark. These two are more than just best friends, they’re a tightly bonded team who bring out the absolute best in each other. Harley is the quiet leader, observant and sensitive, happiest curled up near her favorite human or trotting alongside you on a calm walk. Marvel, on the other hand, is the entertainer, playful and affectionate, with a deep love for tug-of-war, fetch, and any squeaky toy that crosses his path. Together, they balance each other beautifully: Harley’s calm steadies Marvel’s enthusiasm, while Marvel’s spunk encourages Harley to come out of her shell. Both dogs are fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered, crate trained, and house-trained. They’re on a grain-free diet to help keep their ears healthy, and Harley takes a daily Zyrtec to manage mild seasonal allergies. Regular grooming is a must to keep their lovely coats tangle-free and comfortable. Though they’ve been living in a peaceful rural home, a shift in routine has left them feeling anxious with increased noise sensitivity and more time alone. What they need is a calm, consistent environment with a new loving person or family who is home most of the time and can provide daily walks, playtime, and a lot of love. While they haven’t been around young children, they do great in stimulating environments like doggy daycare, becoming relaxed, curious, and social butterflies! They’ve also shown friendly or shy behavior around other dogs and cats, depending on the situation. Harley and Marvel aren’t just looking for a home, they’re looking for a heart-to-heart connection with someone who understands the quiet power of companionship. Could your family be the one to welcome these two loyal, lovable pups into your life and share in their next joyful chapter? To learn more or meet this precious pair, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com! Are you ready for double the snuggles, double the tail wags, and twice the joy?

Story
Elliana They gave me a fancy name at last! Can you believe it? I have been used as a breeder dog for years and years and then dumped at the local pound with a mammary gland tumor that you could play tennis with!! Who does that!!! At least that is what my foster mom thinks my life has been like. I sat there in a cage at animal control for 4 weeks before anyone would think about pulling me out of there but my foster mom said that she had to take me home so that I would have a chance to be a beloved pet before I die. Not that I am planning to do that anytime soon, but you never know. Anyhow, I went to the vet right away and had that big nasty thing taken off my stomach and the vets knew right away what it was and what it was from. They took out the baby making bits as well, so I won’t have to go through having my babies and then losing them right away to being just a baby and money making factory for somebody. Sheesh….get a job!! I have some issues, I won’t lie, but I am starting to kind of get used to being out of a cage, where I learned to circle around and around as there wasn’t a lot of space in those things. I can walk in a straight line and the more I get time outside, the more I am enjoying the fresh air and smells in the grass. I will revert to circles when I am nervous but Rome wasn’t built in a day and I have only had freedom for a couple of months now. I don’t have many teeth, as the ones I did have were rotted and broken from trying to eat the bars I suppose. I startle easily from the lack of being held and loved in my former life, and will try to “gum” you if I pick me up too quickly. But speaking to me and touching me before you pick me up will let me know you are there and going to be gentle with me. I am still getting used to the being held part, and sometimes can’t tolerate it very long, but I am learning and going slow is really helpful to me. I am learning what good food tastes like, and what a soft bed feels like, and while I have pretty limited vision to see things, I can follow my nose and it helps me to find everything I need to get around. Foster mom leaves me a puppy pad to potty on in the house if I have to go at night, and I am pretty good at using it. It took a while to figure out that is what it was for, but also, if I potty outside after meals, I am good if I keep to a schedule. So that is my story. If you are interested in giving a blind old lady a soft landing for the rest of my life, let me know. Local adoption in Texas only please.
