Story
Pulled at the last minute from San Pedro shelter and so glad we did. He is a sweet old man with a mellow personality and just toodle doodles around. Love this old guy.. Quiet and grumpy face and sweet. He was adopted and his owner just died. Please let him find that soft spot again. He would love to be a companion dog and an only dog.

Story
Khloe is looking for a special home. She is around 10 years old and weighs 21 pounds. We welcomed sweet Khloe to the VPR family last August after she was surrendered to our care. We don’t know her entire history, but she has been in at least three different homes over the past 5-6 years. Khloe is friendly with other dogs and overall a happy girl, but she has a lot of anxieties and quirks. If she feels cornered, she may snap to ask for space, and she reacts strongly to any type of restraint. Sadly, this has made vet visits and grooming very challenging for her previous owners. Recently, we brought Khloe to our vet for a sedated groom, nail trim, and bloodwork, and they were able to place a harness and collar on her. Thankfully, this has helped us take her on walks, which she loves! Over the last several months, we've watched Khloe make a lot of progress and grow to trust us. With a few of our volunteers, she's displayed true affection and trust, which has been beautiful to see. She'll lie on her back for belly rubs and race to the door to go for a walk. We are hopeful that in a calmer setting, Khloe will only grow more comfortable. Due to her unpredictability, we recommend a low-traffic home without kids. Her future adopter will have to understand that she'll need plenty of time to decompress and be allowed to progress at her own pace. Medically, Khloe's bloodwork and dental health are in good shape, and she is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. We’re looking for a special adopter, willing to meet Khloe where she is. PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.2/22/26 Penny is a 3 year old Brittany Spaniel mix. She is a friendly, energetic girl who loves kids, cats, and most other dogs. Penny is house trained, leash trained, and crate trained. She really needs a home where she can get more exercise. A fenced yard would be ideal for her, but leash walks might do as long as her adopter is committed to walk/run her enough to get her energy out. Shes a good girl that just needs the right family to love her. She is spayed, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.  Penny is located in Arkansas. She can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in PA, NY, or CT on Saturdays. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
