Story
Meet Otto Jones — a 12‑year‑old, 11 lb. miniature Poodle mix who is as adorable as his name suggests!   Quick Facts: Name: Otto Jones Breed: Miniature Poodle Mix Age: 12 years old Weight: 11 lbs. House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: No – but does use a gated pen in his foster home Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Not tested, likely fine Good with Kids: Not tested, likely fine with older, respectful kids Energy Level: Low Fence Required: No Special Needs: Otto Jones has cataracts in his left eye and partially visually impaired. He also seems to be a little hard of hearing. He is currently Heartworm Positive (which is treatable) and all treatment will be paid by CrisisDogsNC even if he is adopted prior to completing treatment. (Heartworm treatment includes 30 days of Doxycycline (“slow kill” method due to his age).   About Otto Jones’s Breed: Our best guess is that Otto Jones is a miniature poodle mixed breed. Miniature Poodles are known for their intelligence, affectionate nature, and gentle, people‑oriented temperament, making them wonderful companions for families and seniors alike. They tend to bond closely with their humans and enjoy being part of daily routines, whether that’s relaxing on the couch, going for short walks, or simply following their person from room to room. Their bright minds and sensitive personalities often make them responsive, loyal, and eager to please.   An ideal home for a Mini Poodle is one that offers steady companionship, a calm environment, and gentle structure. They thrive with people who enjoy spending time with their dogs and can provide consistent routines, light exercise, and lots of affection. Because they’re social and emotionally attuned, they do especially well in homes where they’re not left alone for long periods and can enjoy the comfort of being near their favorite humans.   What to Love about Otto Jones: Despite being a senior, Otto still has a surprising pep in his step and enjoys short walks, exploring the yard, and being part of whatever his people are doing. His happiest moments are spent snuggled beside his person or curled up in his cozy dog bed. He loves belly rubs, being held, and soaking up affection — especially from his foster dad, whom he follows around like a devoted little shadow!   Otto has slightly impaired hearing and vision, including a cataract in his left eye, but it doesn’t slow him down or dampen his cheerful spirit. He’s very food‑motivated, loves treats, and could chew on bones all day if you let him! He’s fully house trained too. He does wonderfully with the other dogs in his foster home and fits right in. He hasn’t met cats or kids yet, but would likely do well with calm, respectful children.   He’s not a fan of being crated and would do best in a gated area with a comfy bed when left alone. At night, he’s happy to sleep in your bed or in his own bed right beside you! Otto is a lower‑energy gentleman due to his age, but he still enjoys leisurely walks and is great on a leash. He is currently heartworm positive, and the rescue will fully cover his treatment — even if he’s adopted before it’s completed.   Otto Jones’s Outstanding Highlights: 12‑year‑old, 11 lb miniature Poodle mix with a sweet, gentle temperament Still has a little pep in his step and enjoys short walks and exploring Loves snuggling, belly rubs, and being right beside his person, especially his foster dad Slightly impaired hearing and vision (blind in one eye) but still gets around confidently Very food‑motivated and loves treats and chewing bones Almost fully house trained; wears diapers for occasional accidents and benefits from consistent potty breaks Does great with other dogs and would likely do well with calm, respectful kids and possibly cats Not crate‑friendly; does best in a gated area with a comfy bed when left alone Sleeps happily in your bed or in his own bed beside you Lower‑energy senior who just wants companionship and affection Currently heartworm positive, and his treatment will be fully covered by the rescue   Otto Jones is a gentle, loving, loyal little companion who wants nothing more than to spend his golden years by someone’s side, soaking up love and offering endless sweetness in return.   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Story
Meet Miss Toots — a 3‑year‑old, 9‑pound Chihuahua–Poodle mix with a heart full of love and the snuggle skills of a seasoned pro!   Quick Facts: Name: Miss Toots Breed: Chihuahua/Poodle Mix Age: 3 years old Weight: 9 lbs. House-Trained: 99% there! Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Not tested but likely fine Good with Kids: Not tested Energy Level: Low to medium Fence Required: Yes   About Miss Toots’ Breed: Our best guess is that Miss Toots is a Chihuahua and Poodle mixed breed. Chihuahua–Poodle mixes, often called Chi‑Poos, blend the best traits of both breeds: the Chihuahua’s loyalty and affection with the Poodle’s intelligence and charm. They’re typically small, people‑oriented dogs who love being close to their humans and often enjoy snuggling just as much as playtime. Their energy level can vary from low to moderate, but most Chi‑Poos appreciate short walks, mental enrichment, and plenty of lap time. Their coat may be low‑shedding like a Poodle’s, which can make grooming a regular part of their care.   Chi‑Poos thrive in homes where they get lots of companionship, gentle handling, and a predictable routine. They often do well with another friendly dog and enjoy having a buddy to play or cuddle with. Because they bond deeply with their people, they’re happiest in homes where someone is around often. A fenced yard is a bonus for safe exploring, though many do well with indoor play and daily walks. With love, structure, and a cozy lap to curl into, a Chi‑Poo becomes a devoted, affectionate, and wonderfully charming companion.   What to Love about Miss Toots: This beautiful little girl adores laps, presses her face to yours when she cuddles, and happily soaks up all the affection you’re willing to give. She loves treats, eats well, and has no aggression toward other dogs — though she’ll gently growl and walk away if she feels the need to protect her space. She transitioned easily into her foster home and has been a joy from day one!   Miss Toots is almost fully potty trained and does best with a consistent routine. She’s crate trained and sleeps happily in her crate at night, though she’d absolutely prefer to curl up in your bed if you’ll let her (hint, hint)! She has great house manners and can be left alone without a crate as well. She rides wonderfully in the car, enjoys her walks, and is doing great with her leash training. With her medium‑to‑low energy level, she’s mostly a snuggler with adorable little bursts of playfulness!   She loves every person she meets and would likely do well with respectful children, though she hasn’t met any yet. Miss Toots is wonderful with other dogs and would love to have a doggie companion in her forever home. She hasn’t been tested with cats yet. Her ideal home is one where someone is home most of the time, with another friendly dog to play with and a fenced yard for safe exploring and zoomies.   Sweet, affectionate, and full of charm, Miss Toots is ready to find her perfect family — apply to meet her today!   Miss Toots’ Tantalizing Highlights: 3‑year‑old, 9 lb Chihuahua–Poodle mix Total snuggle bug who loves laps and presses her face to yours Medium‑to‑low energy with adorable playful spurts Loves treats and eats well Wonderful with all dogs; uses gentle growls and space‑giving when needed Ideal home: someone home most of the time plus another friendly dog Would love a fenced yard for safe play but not a flight risk Crate trained and sleeps well in a crate, but would prefer your bed Great house manners and can be left alone uncrated Almost fully potty trained; thrives with a consistent routine Rides beautifully in the car Doing great with leash training and enjoys walks Loves everyone she meets; likely good with respectful kids Hasn’t met cats yet   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/.
