Story
Are you looking for a devoted companion who will brighten your days with a wagging nub? Let us introduce you to Poshey, a charming senior Cocker Spaniel who still has plenty of love—and fetch—left in her! Okay, let’s be real. Poshey is as sweet and sour as a margarita. Most of the time, Poshey is a happy girl with a wagging nub to prove it. Occasionally, her inner cray-cray makes its way to the surface and she becomes slightly unhinged. No, she does not have a bite history. She has, however, looked and sounded like the velociraptors on Jurassic Park. Her foster mama can clue you in to what triggers her capricious mood swings. While she is a senior, Poshey acts much younger, especially when there is a plush toy involved! She absolutely loves fetch and will happily chase a toy in a secure yard or a long hallway. She will literally toss it at your feet when she is ready for the next throw. Poshey also enjoys walks, exploring the neighborhood, and taking in all the smells. She finds them energizing. All walks must be topped off by a quick session of fetch. It’s her rule. We don’t argue. After her adventures, she is a lovely companion to have sitting nearby while you read or watch TV. Need a sous chef? Poshey will stay close to the drop zone, ever at your heels, in the event you drop a morsel of something she finds palatable. Poshey has been through a lot recently and is ready to put her past behind her and enjoy her golden years. Poshey has had a comprehensive "makeover" to ensure she is comfortable, including a dental with multiple extractions and successful bladder stone removal. She also had cherry eye surgery. She is now feeling much better, though she requires a loving home that will keep up with her necessary care. Though she is a Spaniel, Poshey doesn't understand the necessities essential for her luxurious double coat—she hates grooming! Brushing and grooming sessions are scary and very stressful for her. She will need an adopter who is patient and understanding with her aversion to being groomed and who is comfortable taking her to a professional groomer who specializes in handling "challenging" seniors. Poshey requires a calm, patient, adult-only home. She deserves a stable environment to thrive in. Because she has had surgery for bladder stones, she may need a specialized diet to prevent future issues. Poshey would love a home with a secure yard, as nothing quite tops rolling around in the grass. Poshey is house trained and crate trained. She is trustworthy to roam free in the house. She coexists beautifully but does not engage with the other dogs in her foster home. If you are looking for a sweet, slightly salty, but entirely devoted senior girl to take on walks and play fetch with, Poshey is your match!

Story
(DOB 02/18/2025) Meet this sweet boy, Elvis—believed to be a Cocker Spaniel mix—who is full of charm, personality, and hair that many women would envy! Whether he’s hopping into the car (he’s an excellent passenger, by the way!) or heading out for a neighborhood stroll, he’s always ready for his next adventure. He needs a fenced in yard where he can expend his energy and have fun engaging in playful activities with the family while off leash. Due to his high energy and positive interactions with other dogs in his foster home and at doggie daycare, he needs another dog in the home. He has been around cats and done well. He is very curious about cats and his environment, so making sure there is constant supervision is highly recommended. While Elvis has so much love to give, he needs to be in a home with children over the age of 10, allowing him to fully relax and be his best self. This lovable guy has a fun, lively spirit, but he also knows how to unwind and enjoy the quieter side of life. After a good play session, Elvis is all about the snuggles and will happily curl up right beside you as your loyal cuddle buddy. He’s crate trained and does best with a consistent routine, making him a great fit for a structured, loving home. He is working on his manners and basic commands and is eager to practice with the rewards of treats and positive reinforcement being received. Elvis is searching for his forever home—a place where he’ll be loved, exercised, and included as an active part of the family. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who brings both joyful energy and heartfelt affection, Elvis might just be your perfect match. As part of Elvis’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet pup, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Elvis, you can complete an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2677080##

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Deaf ucky – Gentle, Independent Senior Looking for a Patient Home Located in Middlesex, NC Adoption Fee: $300 Please note: We do not transport dogs. Bucky is an 11-year-old Cocker Spaniel who looks like a mini Golden Retriever — with a soft golden coat and soulful eyes. He came to us after his beloved owner passed away, and sadly, none of her five children were able to take him. Losing his person has been a big adjustment for this senior boy. Bucky is deaf, but he adapts well by watching your movements and learning routine. Deaf dogs do wonderfully with consistency, hand signals, and a patient home. It’s important to know Bucky is timid. He is not a lap dog and does not enjoy being held or fussed over. He does not seek out touch and prefers his space. However, he will quietly stay by your side. He finds comfort in presence rather than physical affection. He’s the kind of companion who shares the room with you, follows you gently, and simply wants to belong — without being overwhelmed. Bucky would thrive in: • A calm, quiet home • Patient adopters who respect his boundaries • A predictable routine • A securely fenced yard (helpful for deaf dogs) He is looking for someone who understands that love doesn’t always look like cuddles. Sometimes it looks like quiet loyalty, soft footsteps behind you, and a steady presence nearby. If you can offer patience, stability, and understanding, Bucky may be the gentle companion you’ve been waiting for. Meet Mochi — a 3‑year‑old, 23 lb Cockapoo mix with a heart as soft as his curls and a personality that melts everyone he meets! Quick Facts:Name: MochiBreed: Cockapoo (Cocker Spaniel/Poodle) MixAge: 3 years oldWeight: 23 lbs.House-Trained: YesCrate-Trained: YesGood with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: Not testedGood with Kids: Not testedEnergy Level: Low/AffectionateFence Required: NoBonded with: Sushi About Mochi’s Breed:Our best guess is that Mochi is a Cocker Spaniel/Poodle (Cockapoo) mixed breed. Cockapoos — a mix of Cocker Spaniel and Poodle — are known for their affectionate, people‑loving nature and their gentle, friendly temperament. They’re typically smart, social, and eager to please, which makes them wonderful companions for families, singles, and seniors alike. With their soft coats, expressive faces, and cuddly personalities, they often become deeply attached to their humans and love being part of daily life. Their ideal home is one where affection flows freely and they can enjoy plenty of companionship. Cockapoos thrive with families who appreciate snuggles, enjoy light to moderate activity, and can offer consistent love and attention. They do best in nurturing environments where they’re included in the fun — whether that’s a cozy movie night, a neighborhood walk, or simply curling up beside their favorite person. What to Love about Mochi:Mochi is a treat‑loving, cuddle‑seeking sweetheart who adores snuggling with his people and his bonded brother, Sushi! These two make an incredibly loving, affectionate duo, and Mochi is the type of pup who will stand on his back legs just to get extra pets and attention. He’s observant, gentle, and has a special love for chicken and cucumbers! Mochi is potty trained, crate trained, and has such great house manners that he can be left uncrated when you’re away. He’s friendly with other dogs and loves greeting them on walks — sometimes with a cheerful barked “hello.” He hasn’t met kids or cats yet, but would likely do well with respectful children who understand how to interact gently with dogs. Mochi is lower‑energy overall, happiest napping in your lap or curled up beside you, but he enjoys leisurely walks in the woods or around the neighborhood with Sushi. He does pull on leash and would benefit from some training, but he’s eager to please and loves being part of the family. Mochi’s Magnificent Highlights:3‑year‑old, 23 lb Cockapoo mix with a mellow, affectionate personalityDeeply bonded with his brother Sushi — they make an incredibly loving duoTotal cuddlebug who loves napping in your lap or right beside youTreat‑motivated and loves chicken and cucumbersFriendly with other dogs and enjoys greeting them on walks (sometimes with a barked “hello”)Potty trained, crate trained, and trustworthy uncrated thanks to great house mannersLower‑energy but enjoys relaxed walks in the woods or around the neighborhoodHasn’t met kids or cats yet but would likely do well with respectful childrenOverall a gorgeous, gentle, observant boy who thrives in a home full of affection and cuddles  If you’re looking for a mellow, affectionate, gorgeous little companion — and especially if you’re open to adopting a bonded pair — Mochi and Sushi are ready to fill your home with warmth, cuddles, and endless love. Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/.
