Story
Meet Pawnette 💕 Pawnette is a 10-month-old mini Poodle weighing about 13 pounds who is just beginning to learn what life outside of a puppy mill looks like. She is a very sweet, gentle girl, but also understandably nervous as she navigates all of these brand-new experiences. Pawnette will need an adopter who understands the importance of decompression time and is willing to move at her pace. We have not yet started formal training, as her main focus right now is simply feeling safe. She is currently getting used to wearing a collar with a drag lead around the house. Collars and harnesses are still scary for her, so patience and calm reassurance will be key as she builds confidence. Where Pawnette truly shines is with other dogs. She absolutely lights up when she sees them and becomes an entirely different pup—happy, playful, and full of little pounces and soft barks inviting them to play. Because of this, Pawnette would do best in a home with another friendly dog to help her feel secure and show her the ropes. A physically fenced yard is required so Pawnette can safely explore and decompress without the pressure of leash walks while she continues to adjust. With time, consistency, and a gentle hand, Pawnette has so much potential to blossom into a confident and loving companion. Pawnette is fostered in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. Her adoption fee is $450.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Horace For the first five years of his life, Horace didn’t know what it meant to be someone’s beloved dog. Born into a puppy mill, he missed out on comfort, security, and simple kindness. But despite everything, Horace’s heart remains gentle and full of quiet hope. Now 5½ years old and 10 lbs, this Miniature Poodle is learning what it feels like to be safe. He is crate trained and finds comfort in having a cozy space of his own. He’s also good with kids, especially those who are kind and respectful—he seems to understand gentleness because he offers it so freely himself. Horace is shy at first, but his sweetness shines in small, beautiful ways: a soft look, a tentative tail wag, a calm presence by your side. He doesn’t ask for much—just patience, routine, and someone who will let him bloom in his own time. Each day brings a new victory for him, and being part of that journey is incredibly special. A secure, fenced yard is required for Horace, as he is not comfortable relying solely on leash walks and needs a safe space to explore and decompress. This sweet boy would do best in a calm, loving home. Another gentle dog could help guide him, but what Horace truly needs is a human who believes in second chances and understands that trust is earned through love. Horace’s past does not define him—his future does. He is ready to give his heart to someone who will never let it be broken again. If you’re looking for a quiet, deeply meaningful bond and a dog who will love you with his whole soul, Horace is waiting. Horace is fostered in the Cincinnati area. His adoption fee is $450.00.
