Story
Autumn is a gentle, soulful Cocker Spaniel who is experiencing the world for the very first time. After spending most of her life in a puppy mill having litter after litter, she is finally getting the chance to learn what it means to be safe, loved, and part of a family. She is a quiet, tender girl who finds comfort in the presence of other dogs. Autumn absolutely lights up around them—she follows their lead, copies their routines, and even chooses to nap right on top of the dog beds so she can be close. Having one (or more!) doggy friends gives her confidence and helps her understand this new life. Autumn is still learning how to trust people. She is shy and unsure at first and may try to keep her distance, but with time and gentle patience, she slowly begins to show her soft, sweet personality. She has even discovered the joy of climbing onto the couch to curl up and nap—something she never had the chance to do before. Because she is still new to the concept of potty training and leash walking, Autumn does best with a physically fenced yard. She feels safer going potty off leash and is far more successful when she can explore the yard at her own pace. A fenced yard also gives her a secure place to practice her leash skills without pressure or fear. Autumn settles best in a larger crate and may howl a little at first, but she adjusts and relaxes. Most things in a normal home are brand new to her—sounds, routines, affection, freedom—and she takes them in gently and carefully. For her safety, letting her drag a leash indoors makes it easier to guide or pick her up without scaring her. What makes Autumn so special is the quiet courage she shows every day. Despite everything she’s been through, she is trying. She is curious. She is learning. And she is finally beginning to feel what safety and comfort are supposed to be. Autumn is looking for a calm, patient, low-key household with another confident dog and a fenced yard—a place where she can continue to decompress, build trust at her own pace, and blossom into the dog she was always meant to be. If you’re someone who believes in second chances and finds beauty in watching a dog bloom, Autumn will steal your heart. Autumn is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. Story
Meet Emerald — affectionately known as Emmy! Emerald is an almost 2-year-old, 8 lb miniature poodle with the sweetest spirit. Rescued from a puppy mill, she’s leaving her past behind and blossoming beautifully in her foster home. Free from the noise and stress of mill life, Emerald is learning what it truly means to just be a dog—and she’s loving it. This curious little girl is slowly blossoming, showing glimpses of a happy, gentle pup who’s eager to explore her world at her own pace. Emerald is still quite skittish and learning to adjust to the everyday noises and activity of life outside the puppy mill, but each day she grows a little braver. She’s just beginning to discover the comfort of human affection and truly shines with structure, consistency, and kind guidance. Emerald will thrive in a patient, loving home that’s ready to celebrate her small victories and help her continue building confidence. Emerald will need a confident, friendly dog in her forever home to help show her the ropes and continue building her confidence. Having a steady canine companion gives her reassurance and helps her feel safe. She will also require a physically fenced yard, as she is still easily startled and not yet comfortable walking on a leash in unfamiliar environments. A secure yard will allow her the freedom to explore and play safely while she continues to grow more confident. Emerald is comfortable around both men and women (she is slower to warm up to men). She hasn’t yet had the opportunity to interact with children or cats. Crate training and potty training are works in progress, but she is doing great. Emerald is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $450.00 To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination.
