Story
Lucy Lou🐾, a 5-year old, 17lb Cocker Spaniel who is learning to feel safe & loved with family. Lucy Lou is a shy, gentle girl who is still getting used to trusting humans. Lucy Lou is a little nervous to be held & cuddled, but with time & patience, she is sure to melt your heart. She gets along well with other dogs but hasn’t been around cats. Lucy Lou would fit best with older children as she continues to build her confidence. Lucy Lou is crate trained, working on house training but is kept on a consistent schedule in her foster home. Leash training is still a work in progress. Lucy Lou loves being free in a fenced back yard to explore at her own pace. Because she didn’t have a good diet earlier in life, Lucy Lou has had multiple teeth extracted. Lucy Lou has a sister named Darcy. If you’re looking for a lovely sister duo, consider applying for both so they can continue their journey together. Lucy Lou is looking for a patient home, that will give her time to blossom. With a little understanding and a lot of love, Lucy Lou will ultimately be your best friend for life. Lucy Lou is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $450.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Chestnut is a 12+ year old male cocker spaniel whose life story could have made him bitter… but instead, it made him even sweeter.   This gentle senior was once someone’s devoted companion, the kind of dog who quietly follows you from room to room just to be near. Tragically, he was found abandoned on a busy road with a painful, eye injury, and struck by a car. Despite everything he has endured, Chestnut greets the world with softness, trust, and a tail that still wants to wag.   His damaged eye has been removed, and he’s recovering beautifully after hip surgery. When he was found, his coat was painfully matted to the skin and he had to be shaved down. The good news? His soft, beautiful fur will grow back, and each day he grows stronger and more comfortable.   What hasn’t changed is his spirit.   Chestnut is calm, affectionate, and very gentle. He loves cozy dog beds, soft voices, and simply being near his humans. He’s past the hustle and bustle of youth and is ready for the quiet joys of senior life: sunny naps, slow strolls, and resting his head on a loving lap. He doesn’t ask for much - just safety, patience, and a loving home where he can finally exhale.   Chestnut is good with other quiet dogs that allow him space as he prefers to keep to himself. He is good with cats. Due to his age and injury a home without young children is preferred. Chestnut is crate/pen trained and keeps it clean. When his beautiful coat grows in he will require regular professional grooming to keep him free of matting and his paws from slipping on the floor.    If you are ready to give a deserving old soul the comfort he’s always given to others, Chestnut is waiting to glow quietly beside you for the rest of his golden years. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   March 7, 2026, 9:24 am

Story
Rosie is the sweetest, most loving dog. She’s an 8-year-old cocker spaniel. We got her when our older kids were home, but they’ve moved out and we have busy schedules.Rosie is crate trained and potty trained, but she reverts to old behaviors when in a new environment (having accidents inside, panicking and trying to escape crate). She’s anxious and has separation anxiety, so the crate is scary for her. We recently tried to rehome her, but there wasn’t enough time for her to get adjusted. With love and patience, she can get accustomed to the crate and will potty outside only. She needs someone who can spend lots of time with her while she adjusts.Rosie takes daily allergy meds and gets groomed once every 1-2 weeks. She has a long history of ear infections, and she gets regular check-ups at the vet. She does great with kids and lived with other dogs/cats as a puppy. As Rosie gets comfy, she’ll be a chill couch potato and snuggler! She loves to play too, and Rosie has so much love to give.

Story
Meet Maia Maia is a 4-year-old, 18lb Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with the sweetest soul and the gentlest heart. Life has been a little overwhelming for this beautiful girl, and she is still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. Maia is extremely timid and skittish, and because of this she is considered a flight risk. She will need a patient, understanding adopter who is committed to helping her build confidence at her own pace. A secure physical fence is a must for her safety. One of Maia’s greatest comforts is other animals. She gets along wonderfully with both dogs and cats, and she would thrive in a home with a confident, friendly dog who can show her the ropes and help her learn how to simply be a dog. While Maia may not be the type of dog who immediately runs up for attention, the people who understand shy dogs know that earning their trust is incredibly rewarding. She is looking for a calm home filled with patience, kindness, and realistic expectations as she continues her journey. If you have a quiet home, a securely fenced yard, and a confident canine companion who can help guide her, Maia may be the perfect addition to your family. She deserves a forever home where she can blossom into the dog she was always meant to be. Maia is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $450.00. Story
Meet Sadie! Sadie is an almost 6-month-old, 10-pound, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who is the ultimate definition of a sweetheart. Her Superpowers include being a World-Class Cuddling, having a Growing Sense of Spunk and having Gold-Star House Manners. She thrives on human affection and is happiest when she is glued to her family. Sadie is truly finding her voice and showing more of her fun personality every single day. She has even started playfully challenging her foster dog sister for chew toys—and she typically wins! She is fully crate trained with absolutely no accidents, and she has been doing a phenomenal job learning to go to the bathroom outside. Sadie is still working on leash training. She will need an adopter with a little time and patience to help her build her confidence on walks. Her favorite things are backyard exploring where she absolutely loves exploring the safety of a fenced-in backyard and her people, whether it's naptime or just hanging out, being near her humans is her absolute favorite place to be. Sadie is a typical puppy mill survivor, which means she can be initially nervous and shy when meeting new people or entering new situations. She absolutely loves children (she is currently doing wonderfully with her foster family's 7 and 10-year-old daughters!). She would do best in a patient home that will let her blossom at her own pace. If you are looking for a perfect snuggle buddy who loves nothing more than being right by her people's side and curling up on your lap, she might be your perfect match! Sadie is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area and her adoption fee is $450. Sadie is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well. Story
Stunning ARNOLD is a sweet timid boy looking for a home. Our best guess on breed is a beagle/brittany mix. He's around 2 years old and fully grown at 26 pounds. Arnold has been with us about a month, decompressing in his foster home. It's taken him a bit of time to figure out that he's safe and people are kind. He's come a long way and is ready to find his furever home. If you're looking for a dog who will immediately jump in your lap and kiss you all over the moment you meet, Arnold isn't the dog for you. But if you are patient and willing to spend a day or two earning his trust, he will love you with all of his heart. Arnold needs a calm home with a friendly, confident dog who will help him navigate his new life. He's housebroken, crate trained and fine with kitties. He requires a physically-fenced yard to keep him from following his nose into trouble. If you'd like to meet Arnold, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Arnold at our weekly adoption event, Saturday 11:30am-1:30pm at PetSmart Eastgate. Our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention.
