Story
New look, new attitude! Gonzo was the most aloof and scared of the family of 3 matted little ones surrendered to us, but he’s coming out of his shell and warming up to a sweet playful pup now that he’s feeling better. He enjoys the company of other dogs and needs some time and space to warm up to people and get used to being groomed and handled but gets sweeter each day. He’s only 18 months old, 17lbs full grown with a non-shedding coat that will need regular grooming for life. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Gonzo in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.

Story
Benjamin is a loving and playful Cockapoo who just turned 1 year old on August 15th. We got him from a farm in Lancaster, PA, and he has brought so much love and energy into our home. Benjamin has a sweet, affectionate personality and absolutely loves being around people. He is great with kids and is always ready to play, but he also has a soft side and loves curling up next to you for cuddles. Benjamin is trained, smart, curious, and full of personality. He enjoys attention and being included in whatever the family is doing. He would do best in a loving home with someone who has time to play with him, give him plenty of affection, and make him feel like part of the family. We want Benjamin to go to a home where he will be loved, cared for, and spoiled with all the cuddles he deserves.

WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.NAME: SeasideBREED: CockapooDOB: Jun 4, 2026 (12 weeks)GENDER: MaleHOME RECOMMENDATION: Seaside would do best in a loving home that is ready for all the fun, energy, and patience that comes with raising a puppy. Story
Introducing Theodore Bear IV 🐻 of Northern NJ His Royal 🫅 Poodleness has had at least 4 homes that we know of already in his 4 years of existence and goes by many names. Theo. Bear. Teddy. Poodle. He will pretty much answer to anything as long as you say it sweetly and give him attention. He was passed from home to home for the general reasons… no time, moving, etc. He’s a little nervous and anxious but has been a pretty easy going dog-friendly sweet boy since coming to us. We have had reports of some resource guarding of food, bones, toys, and beds in some of his past homes and sometimes needing to be muzzled for grooming. So he’s probably going to have some quirks as he settles in and need an adult home that knows how to avoid conflict with weird little dogs and give him space at times, and not get their feelings hurt easily if there is a disagreement. He’s was not even 13lbs under all his mats and does have a non-shedding poodle coat, and has now been neutered and updated on shots. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet the poodle man of many names in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ.
