Story
Howdy, I'm WILLY (Billy), and here is a bit about me:Breed: Cocker Spaniel mixAge: 5 yrsGender: MaleWeight: 42 lbsHeight: 18-1/2 inchesCountry of Origin: Republic of GeorgiaHighlights: Determined, loyal, happy, curious, playful, fearless, sociable, and affectionate. designed to be your perfect Spaniel companion: ready for adventuring, followed by lovey-dovey snuggles!I am a determined and loyal boy searching for a heart to call my own and a safe sanctuary where my resilient spirit can finally rest. URGENT: A CALL FOR HELP "I need a safe, forever home in Canada where I am showered with attention because my rescue team also needs to find their own safe home outside of the Republic of Georgia (ROG) and can't keep me much longer.Finding me a placement is now a matter of extreme urgency for both me and the brave people who saved me." My journey began on the cold streets of Georgia, where I was found limping and shivering, begging for food.A severe injury to my front right leg, likely from a car accident, required major surgery. Today, I carry six permanent titanium screws that keep my leg stable. While my elbow joint is fused and cannot bend, my recovery is in full swing! I am already starting to put weight on my leg, a brave step toward the normal, happy life I deserve. A true 'cuddly buggly,' my top priority is being held, kissed, and showered with attention.I am a social butterfly who gets along famously with both dogs and humans. Because I bond so deeply, situational anxiety can surface when my trusted human leaves. That's when I deploy a hoarse, persistent bark. My team manages this beautifully with training and calming chews, so no worries!I am a dedicated 'shadow' who will never let anyone sneak up on my family. Fussiness is never an issue for me; enjoying a soft bed and any kind of food is fine.I hope my perfect human is ready for an especially sweet guy like me! I am a fearless and devoted shadow, ready to start my new life in a safe sanctuary. If you’re looking for a fearless friend who will love you fiercely and bring happiness into your life, I am waiting for you!UPDATE OCT 2025: I am starting to put weight on my weaker leg now!I'm still running on three legs for now, but I'm doing my rehab bit by bit. Every day I get a little stronger!Watch my incredible progress! https://youtube.com/shorts/RVG1DsCGjtE , https://youtube.com/shorts/4Lh7Zk5WzHY Energy level:  ModerateI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknownKids: unknown Fears: None observed. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be asked to pay a passenger fee on top of the cargo fee. ##2455779##
