Story
Khloe is looking for a special home. She is around 10 years old and weighs 21 pounds. We welcomed sweet Khloe to the VPR family last August after she was surrendered to our care. We don’t know her entire history, but she has been in at least three different homes over the past 5-6 years. Khloe is friendly with other dogs and overall a happy girl, but she has a lot of anxieties and quirks. If she feels cornered, she may snap to ask for space, and she reacts strongly to any type of restraint. Sadly, this has made vet visits and grooming very challenging for her previous owners. Recently, we brought Khloe to our vet for a sedated groom, nail trim, and bloodwork, and they were able to place a harness and collar on her. Thankfully, this has helped us take her on walks, which she loves! Over the last several months, we've watched Khloe make a lot of progress and grow to trust us. With a few of our volunteers, she's displayed true affection and trust, which has been beautiful to see. She'll lie on her back for belly rubs and race to the door to go for a walk. We are hopeful that in a calmer setting, Khloe will only grow more comfortable. Due to her unpredictability, we recommend a low-traffic home without kids. Her future adopter will have to understand that she'll need plenty of time to decompress and be allowed to progress at her own pace. Medically, Khloe's bloodwork and dental health are in good shape, and she is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. We’re looking for a special adopter, willing to meet Khloe where she is. Story
Age:   approx. 5 years  old   Weight: 40  lbs My adoption fee is $450   which includes transportation charges to the Northeast. Penny was adopted as a puppy but as her family grew, Penny wasn't adapting to the new family members as hoped.  So in her new home, there should be no kids.  She would be fine as an only dog.  She walks fantastic on a leash and is food motivated.  Penny is calm, well trained and quiet.  She's not needy or clingy.  She needs slow intro to new people.  She would love to have a home of her own.     If you serious about adopting, the first step is to fill out an adoption application on our website:   https://www.smalldogrescuene.org/January 8, 2026, 6:58 pm

Story
Not only is this girl drop dead gorgeous, but you can probably tell by looking at her pictures, that FUN is her middle name! She has an exuberant personality…full of energy, she’s lively & outgoing, making her a lot of fun to be around! Molly seems to love everybody that she meets, adults as well as children. She gets along great with other active dogs…NO CATS though. She’s not always full steam ahead, she also enjoys cuddling and belly rubs at the end of the day! All this sweet girl needs now is an active family to love her and include her in their everyday comings and goings. Her mother was a black purebred Cocker Spaniel. Molly is 3 years old, weighs 27 pounds, has been spayed, microchipped, 4DX heartworm tested, fecal tested, current on all vaccinations, worming and is on heartworm and flea prevention. Her adoption fee is $400. Molly is being fostered in Tennessee. Once adopted she will be transported to her pickup location by a professional dog transport company. Our rescue ships to the New England area every week and her fee includes transportation. Due to state laws, we cannot accept applications from residents of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Maine since we can’t adopt directly to those states.

Colette will be around 25 pounds as an adult, she is spayed, heartworm negative and is on ProHeart6 heartworm preventative. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
