Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Deaf Bucky – Gentle, Independent Senior Looking for a Patient Home Located in Middlesex, NC Adoption Fee: $300 Please note: We do not transport dogs. Bucky is an 11-year-old Cocker Spaniel who looks like a mini Golden Retriever — with a soft golden coat and soulful eyes. He came to us after his beloved owner passed away, and sadly, none of her five children were able to take him. Losing his person has been a big adjustment for this senior boy. Bucky is deaf, but he adapts well by watching your movements and learning routine. Deaf dogs do wonderfully with consistency, hand signals, and a patient home. It’s important to know Bucky is timid. He is not a lap dog and does not enjoy being held or fussed over. He does not seek out touch and prefers his space. However, he will quietly stay by your side. He finds comfort in presence rather than physical affection. He’s the kind of companion who shares the room with you, follows you gently, and simply wants to belong — without being overwhelmed. Bucky would thrive in: • A calm, quiet home • Patient adopters who respect his boundaries • A predictable routine • A securely fenced yard (helpful for deaf dogs) He is looking for someone who understands that love doesn’t always look like cuddles. Sometimes it looks like quiet loyalty, soft footsteps behind you, and a steady presence nearby. If you can offer patience, stability, and understanding, Bucky may be the gentle companion you’ve been waiting for. Story
Are you looking for a devoted companion who will brighten your days with a wagging nub? Let us introduce you to Poshey, a charming senior Cocker Spaniel who still has plenty of love—and fetch—left in her! Like a lot of humans, and with good reason, Poshey has some trust issues. If you give her a few weeks to show her that she can trust you though, she can become your devoted shadow. She needs an adopter willing to accept her for who she is, quirks and all, not someone trying to push her comfort levels. While she is a senior, Poshey acts much younger, especially when there is a plush toy or a leash walk involved! Need a sous chef in the kitchen? Poshey will stay close to the drop zone, ever at your heels, in the event you drop a morsel of something she finds palatable. Poshey has had a comprehensive medical "makeover" to ensure she is comfortable, including a dental with multiple extractions and successful bladder stone removal. She also had cherry eye surgery. She is now feeling much better, though she requires a loving home that will keep up with her necessary care. She will let you wipe her eye boogies and apply ointment or administer drops. Though she is a Spaniel, Poshey doesn't understand the necessities essential for her luxurious double coat—she hates grooming! Brushing and grooming sessions are scary and very stressful for her. She will need an adopter who is patient and understanding with her aversion to being groomed and who is comfortable taking her to a professional groomer who specializes in handling "challenging" seniors. Poshey requires a calm, patient, adult-only home. She deserves a stable environment to thrive in. Poshey would love a home with a secure yard, as nothing quite tops rolling around in the grass. Poshey is house trained and crate trained. She is trustworthy to roam free in the house. She coexists beautifully but does not engage with the other dogs in her foster home. If you are looking for a sweet, slightly salty, but entirely devoted senior girl to take on walks and play fetch with, Poshey is your match! Poshey has been through a lot recently and is ready to put her past behind her and enjoy her golden years.

Story
I am making this post on behalf of my disabled mother. My mother has some mobility issues and struggles with mental health while living on a very small fixed income. My mother is incapable of the type of training Deacon needs. Deacon is about 8 months old and was given to my mother by her partner with no warning or consent. Her partner got Deacon as a small puppy from a backyard breeder for free. At his insistence, she agreed to keep and care for the dog despite having little resources to provide proper vet care and training. Deacon almost instantly developed separation anxiety, and his behavior is escalating. He is anxious all the time and barks at any sound or unfamiliar car outside. He is house-trained but pulls to the point of choking when walked on a leash. He will try to chase cars and act aggressively to unfamiliar people and pets. He has great potential with the right training, but needs someone experienced with high-energy, anxious dogs.
