I belonged to a lady who loved me very much and had gotten me from a previous owner who couldn't keep me. When we moved to another home, she had to go back to work, and I was left home alone for long time periods. This said, I hated being crated and would be quite vocal. She decided that maybe a new home might be best for me with someone who can be home more. No apartments, no condos and no children under 12 years old is best for me. I love other dogs and would probably be okay with a sweet, dog social companion who would love to just hang out with me. I am not playful and I ride okay in a car. I am a healthy, smaller Cocker girl about 22 pounds with anxiety issues that are controlled with two medicines. I will only take my meds with canned food so don't bother trying to give them to me in pill pockets. I am heartworm negative, micro-chipped, updated on vetting needs and I had ear infections, so this has been treated. I am now spayed and I've had a dental. I am a Velcro dog. I will do best with a fenced yard and someone willing to work with me on a regular daily routine that will keep me comfortable. I don't like crates and I guess I just need to learn to relax and find a home with someone who does not need to leave me alone for long time periods. I will do best with patience, love and a regular routine to take my medicines. Fenced yard a must. Adoption Fee $400

Story
Meet Franco: A Sweet Soul Finally Getting the Life He Deserves   For the first four years of his life, Franco knew little more than loneliness because honestly he was treated like a 'junkyard dog' who was supposed to protect a terrible plot of land that a tire tread place existed.    As a puppy, he was given to a man who lived in a shed beside a tire service company's concrete parking lot. Instead of growing up as a beloved family companion, Franco spent his life chained to a fence as a 'guard dog.' Ironically, this gentle boy is a Cocker Spaniel mix—not exactly the fierce watchdog anyone would expect. He had no grass beneath his feet, very little shade beyond a worn-out doghouse, no protection from the weather, and almost no affection. He wasn't even given a name—he was simply called 'Dog.'   A dedicated Critter Cavalry Rescue volunteer spent months trying to convince his owner to let Franco go, even offering to pay for him. At last, the man agreed, and Franco was finally freed from the only life he had ever known.   Today, Franco is beginning a whole new chapter.   He has received veterinary care for the first time, enjoyed a much-needed bath and grooming, and now proudly wears the handsome red-and-white coat that will look even more beautiful once his fur grows back after all the painful mats were removed. He tested positive for heartworms, but he's already received treatment and a full recovery is in place.>   See our video of Franco that shows him experiencing life inside a home for the very first time. He's currently wearing a belly band while he learns his house manners, and he is soaking up every new experience. In just one day, he learned commands like 'sit,' 'leave it,' and 'no.' He clearly wants to please his people and is eager to learn.   Franco is now crate trained, although he may be a little vocal at first. He lives with both large and small dogs in his foster home.  At 4 years, he weighs 42 pounds and is healthy overall. His previous owner did at least keep him well fed. We're not sure how Franco would do with cats, as he did try to chase stray cats while he was chained outside.   What we do know is that Franco absolutely loves affection. He gives the sweetest kisses, happily buries his head in your lap, and is making up for four years without the love every dog deserves.   Franco has waited four long years for a second chance. Now he's ready for a family that will give him the love, patience, and forever home he's always deserved.   To learn more about Franco or to apply to adopt him, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.   When you contact us, please include your city and state.   Critter Cavalry Rescue adopts to Tennessee residents and also transports adopted dogs to families throughout the Northeastern corridor every weekend.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJuly 23, 2026, 10:14 pm

Story
Meet Mr. Pickles. Mr. Pickles hasn't had an easy life. He came from a situation where he was neglected and didn't receive the care, attention, or stability that every dog deserves. Because of that, he's still learning that people can be kind, routines can be trusted, and life can be comfortable. Mr. Pickles isn't looking for a perfect home—he's looking for a patient one. The ideal adopter will understand that healing takes time. He may need extra reassurance, consistency, and grace as he continues to build confidence and learn what it means to be loved. Some days will be easier than others, and progress may come in small steps. But for someone willing to invest that time, the reward is watching a dog discover happiness and security for perhaps the first time in his life. Despite everything he's been through, Mr. Pickles has a sweet soul and a lot of love left to give. Every wag, every cuddle, and every moment of trust he offers feels earned because of the journey he's been on. Mr. Pickles is searching for someone who sees beyond where he came from and believes in where he's going. He deserves a family that will give him the time, patience, and compassion he's always deserved. Could you be the person who helps write the next chapter of Mr. Pickles' story?

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Deaf Bucky – Gentle, Independent Senior Looking for a Patient Home Located in Middlesex, NC Adoption Fee: $300 Please note: We do not transport dogs. Bucky is an 11-year-old Cocker Spaniel who looks like a mini Golden Retriever — with a soft golden coat and soulful eyes. He came to us after his beloved owner passed away, and sadly, none of her five children were able to take him. Losing his person has been a big adjustment for this senior boy. Bucky is deaf, but he adapts well by watching your movements and learning routine. Deaf dogs do wonderfully with consistency, hand signals, and a patient home. It’s important to know Bucky is timid. He is not a lap dog and does not enjoy being held or fussed over. He does not seek out touch and prefers his space. However, he will quietly stay by your side. He finds comfort in presence rather than physical affection. He’s the kind of companion who shares the room with you, follows you gently, and simply wants to belong — without being overwhelmed. Bucky would thrive in: • A calm, quiet home • Patient adopters who respect his boundaries • A predictable routine • A securely fenced yard (helpful for deaf dogs) He is looking for someone who understands that love doesn’t always look like cuddles. Sometimes it looks like quiet loyalty, soft footsteps behind you, and a steady presence nearby. If you can offer patience, stability, and understanding, Bucky may be the gentle companion you’ve been waiting for.
