Bucky is a gentle 11-year-old Cocker Spaniel who depends on and adores his best friend Gizmo, an 11–12-year-old female Chihuahua. These two seniors lost their 90-year-old mom when she passed away, and heartbreakingly, none of her five adult children were willing to take them. The family even considered taking them to a shelter to be euthanized. We stepped in just in time to keep them safe. Bucky is completely toothless, but that doesn’t stop him from loving mealtime! He is also deaf, but he navigates life with calm confidence and looks to Gizmo for comfort and companionship. Both are sweet, quiet, low-maintenance, and wonderful with other dogs and cats. Because of their deep bond, they must stay together. They’ve already lost so much—being separated would be devastating. We are looking for a local foster or adopter in or near Middlesex, NC, who can offer these two a peaceful, loving home to spend their golden years side by side. Hello! We have had Maya since she was 8 weeks old and she is now almost 4. She is such a sweetheart, but she needs more than we are able to give her. She LOVES attention and will happily take all of yours if you let her. She is a really good girl, and she is also possessive. We have 2 cats that she has not gotten along with, and other dogs are hit or miss. She is definitely stubborn and a little bit sneaky, and she is also incredibly smart. I think she would excel as an only pet, and would do really well with someone who is patient. If you do have other pets, a slow introduction would be beneficial. She is *mostly* potty trained, but we keep a puppy pad out for her just to catch any accidents. Her adoption fee would include all of her items: food and bowls, crate, bed, toys, car seat, leash, flea/tick and heartworm meds that we have, etc.
