**IF THIS LISTING IS STILL POSTED THIS DOG IS STILL AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. NO NEED TO EMAIL ASKING IF THE DOG IS AVAILABLE. PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS BIO THOROUGHLY AS INFORMATION ON HOW TO APPLY IS CONTAINED IN THIS LISTING** For Adoption: Rosey Posey! Please read our dog bios carefully to be sure that the dog you are applying for suits your family and lifestyle. We at PDR believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. Post-adoption training is a requirement in our adoption process. To apply for adoption and for more information on our process and requirements, visit our website at https://pounddog.ca/adoption-info/. Rosey Posey is a 4-1/2 year old Cocker Spaniel with a soft, golden coat, expressive eyes, and an absolutely adorable face that quickly wins hearts. Rosey is a petite girl who weighs 9 kg . She has a gentle presence and a sweet, sensitive personality. Her name suits her perfectly—she is a delicate and lovely little dog who is slowly blossoming with patience and care. Rosey Posey came from a breeding mill situation. She had no exposure at all to the outside world prior to coming into rescue. As such, she requires ample patience and care. She shows signs of being afraid to be picked up, as she was mishandled in the mill. She will seek love and attention if we are sitting in a neutral stance, and if her foster brother approaches us first. As with all mill dogs, confidence gaining is a slow progression; she is already much more brave than when we got her and will continue to blossom with further exposure to the world around her and with love and compassion. Rosey Posey would do well in a calm and quiet adult only home. Noises and quick movements startle her. She seems very interested in children, maybe because they are smaller and less threatening, and could do well with visiting children while properly supervised, but a home with children will be too busy and noisy for her at this time. Gentle teens would be fine for her as well. In the home, Rosey Posey can go up and down stairs no problem. She likes walks on leash, but still checks behind her and keeps an eye on you as she walks. She had never been on a walk before rescue so there is a lot to take in. She currently gets a 30 minute walk daily at minimum. She is a moderate energy dog and her exercise needs can be met with daily walks and yard time One of Rosey Posey's most endearing qualities is the way she slowly melts into affection once she feels safe. She enjoys the companionship of her calm foster brother, and seems more secure when he is around. She would fare best with another dog in the home, but could be the only dog as long as her people are experienced with timid dogs and know that it will take longer for her to be brave in new situations if she doesn't have a canine role model to pattern off of. Rosey Posey has a beautiful coat that will require regular grooming and brushing to keep her comfortable and healthy. She can handle fur brushing, although runs away when done. Her breed of dog will need a few visits to the professional groomer as well and she will require a groomer very skilled with mill dogs who will take things slow and not scare her. She is currently learning her house-training routine and is becoming more accustomed to going outside for bathroom breaks. Rosey hasn't signalled the need to go outside yet, and has had a few accidents in the house if she isn't being carefully supervised. She needs to be taken out many times as you would a puppy, and crated if she isn't being watched. On her crate schedule (going outside immediately after crate time) she is more successful with house-training. Rosey Posey doesn't seek out her crate but when she is in she settles easily and benefits greatly from having a predictable, quiet place of her own. The crate has been an invaluable tool in helping Rosey Posey adjust to home life and build confidence at her own pace. She is crated during the day while at work, and at night when sleeping. She continues to make steady progress with everyday experiences and will thrive with adopters who celebrate small but meaningful victories. Rosey Posey does well in the car when crated. She is quiet and settles. She loves her foster brother, and has found comfort in following his lead. She enjoys meeting dogs on a walk, and is not reactive. She hasn't noticed squirrel friends yet. Rosey Posey is currently learning the basics of living in a home environment, including house training, routine handling, and confidence-building exercises. She is making progress every day and responds best to patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement. Continued training and gentle exposure to new experiences will help Rosie become a more confident and comfortable companion. She is not suited to a first time dog owner, but will do well with those with experience in training a dog and can work with her to build her skills and confidence. Rosey has received all the necessary veterinary care and is continuing her transition into a healthy family pet. She has been assessed by a veterinarian and is in good health. Despite her nervousness, she has handled veterinary visits well. At this time, her primary needs are continued emotional support, routine veterinary care, and ongoing ear care which is common for her breed. We discovered she is allergic to certain vaccinations, so an anti-histimine protocol would be necessary with any further vaccinations. Rosey Posey also has a faint heart murmur, which is common for her breed. Rosey Posey is a truly special little dog who is looking for a patient and loving forever home that will allow her to continue blossoming at her own pace. She will do best in a calm household with a predictable routine, gentle handling, and ideally another friendly dog to help guide her. While she may not be the dog who immediately runs up to greet strangers, Rosey Posey offers something incredibly rewarding: the chance to earn the trust and love of a dog who has overcome a difficult beginning. Watching Rosey Posey relax into a soft bed, lean in for quiet pets, and slowly discover that people can be kind is a privilege—and the family who gives her that chance will be rewarded with a deeply loyal and loving companion. Story
Buddy Holly Have you ever looked into the eyes of a dog? I mean really looked. Hi.My  name is Martha. Buddy asked me to  write his bio since his English is not good. Although I have never met Buddy, I have looked into his eyes in the photos taken of him. In them I have found kindness, earnestness, love, and vulnerability. I have owned and cared for three Brittanys from their youth to their elder years. Without a doubt, I can tell you that the elder ones are a delight and eager to please.  Buddy at 9 years is a liver and white Brittany mix currently being fostered in Michigan. He is curious and playful, but also has a mellow side to him.. In broken English Buddy tells me he loves to run around the yard with surges of  joyful enthusiasm. After his energy runs out, he likes to relax with a nap or snuggle.   Going for a walk is one of his preferred activities. His stuffed animals and squeaky toys are his treasures, and he can be seen showing them off with pride wherever he goes. He tells me that when he plays with his squeaky toys, he pretends to be one of them and tries to squeak back, hoping to sound like his namesake. However, he realizes this is a lost cause and contents himself with burping now and then. Buddy is house trained and crate trained. Since he is not a fan of other dogs,  he tells me he would be happy to be the only pet his home. He is informed me that he would prefer to be in a calm home with adults or older kids familiar with canine behavior who can give him the space he need and appreciate his relax relaxed way of life. Although he has not been tested with children, his calm and engaging manner would more than make up for this.  Buddy is a sturdy dog who is in excellent health and takes no medications. He is a serious alarm system. He will let you know if something out of the ordinary is going on around the house. He has an impish strain, such as digging when bored. He will be at his best if he has structured play time or organized activities to occupy his inquisitive mind. Buddy is a dog with healthy contrasts. He is able to juggle joy and companionship. He can be playful without being overwhelming, devoted without being clingy, and thoroughly faithful.  Buddy wants you to know the following:  " I don't drink alcohol or use illicit drugs. I don't smoke or drink coffee. I have never been arrested. You will find me to be of sound character. I may have bursts of enthusiasm, but I also like to snuggle on the couch and watch Netflix with you."   Could you be the one to give this sweet boy the forever home he deserves? Story
Meet Your New Best Friend! Jayce is a 3-year-old Brittnay Mix who is looking for his forever home. While he might be a little shy when you first meet him, give him a moment to come out of his shell, and you'll find a funny, bouncy, and deeply loving companion. Jayce is a "paws-on" kind of dog! He is famous for his hugs and will spend his time trying to wrap his paws around you if he isn't already trying to curl up in your lap. He is the perfect blend of a lounge partner and a playmate. Because of his cautious temperament, Jayce has some specific needs to help him feel safe and successful: No Other Dogs: He prefers being the "only child" and can be reactive toward strange dogs. Quiet Environment: He would not enjoy the high-stress environment of a dog park. Patient Humans: He needs an owner who understands he needs to approach new things at his own pace. No Strangers (at first): He can be vocal with people he doesn't know, but his loyalty to his inner circle is unmatched. If you have the patience to let him blossom, you will be rewarded with a level of love and loyalty that only a dog like Jayce can give. He is ready to be your most devoted friend. Jayce's adoption fee is $325 to offset the cost of vetting and help other rescues in need. He is currently located in Georgia and can be transported up to 1400 miles via our Canine Railroad. Story
Meet Hershey! Hershey is a handsome 3-year-old Brittany being fostered in Indiana with the classic personality the breed is known for—happy-go-lucky, affectionate, and always ready for his next adventure. Weighing in at a healthy 40 pounds, he's the perfect combination of playful energy and sweet companionship. Hershey loves being with his people and happily soaks up attention, especially ear rubs and butt scratches. When it's time to play, squeaky balls and his beloved Wubba toy are among his favorites. He enjoys romping with other dogs and plays nicely with his canine friends. His experience with cats is unknown. As a young Brittany, Hershey has plenty of natural curiosity and wants to investigate everything around him. He loves going for walks and riding in the car, making him an excellent companion for an active family. He is still polishing his leash manners, but with consistency and continued training, he'll continue to improve. Hershey is both house-trained and kennel-trained. He lets you know when he needs to go outside by going to the door or coming to find you. He's a well-mannered boy who knows the command "sit," takes treats gently, and has no issues with resource guarding. In fact, he's been comfortable having toys and treats taken from him and has remained gentle, even during energetic play. He isn't a jumper and has a wonderfully sweet nature. While Hershey enjoys affection, he's also a bit independent. If you lift him onto your lap, he's perfectly content to cuddle, but he won't invite himself onto the furniture. Like many young sporting dogs, his recall could use some work, so a securely fenced yard or commitment to leash safety will be important while he continues his training. Hershey is in excellent health with clear eyes, clean ears, healthy teeth and gums, a shiny coat, and an ideal weight. He'll let you know when someone passes by the house, making him a good little watchdog without being overbearing. If you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate Brittany with a gentle heart, playful spirit, and plenty of potential, Hershey may be the perfect addition to your family. With love, continued guidance, and an active home, this sweet boy is sure to become a loyal and devoted companion. If you feel you are the perfect fit for Hershey, fill out an application at: https://nbran.org/adopt/adoption-application. Once your application is submitted the coordinator in the State where you reside will follow-up with you. Need to reach your State Coordinator, find their contact information here https://nbran.org/about/state-provincial-coordinators.   IN/Hershey’s adoption fee is $400.00 which will help NBRAN cover the vetting costs and other expenses associated vetting and readying our Britts ready for adoption.   Don't live in IN or close by?
