Story
Hi there. My name is ORIO (Oreo) and here is a bit of info about me:Breed: Border Collie / Labrador mixAge: 3-1/2 yrsGender: femaleWeight: 38 lbsHeight: tbd Highlights: calm, cuddler, loyal, clever Left in the freezing cold in Lebanon to fend for themselves at a young age, I was found on the streets roaming around and looking for food in the garbage. Me and my best friend Ollio were constantly harassed by passerbys. We were threatened with being shot, if not removed. Thankfully, a rescuer came through for us. I was pregnant when found and since had 4 adorable puppies (they will be up for adoption later.) I was transferred to a boarding shelter until a home was found.  I certainly enjoy snuggling, a real cuddle bug they call me.My foster says I am great in the house, calm outside and don't bark a lot. I enjoy the great outdoors. So much so, that it would be best to go to a home with some decent sized property for me to run around."Very sweet & very loving" is how my foster describes me. My foster has worked with me to get me to stop pulling on a leash. Now, I'm a pro walker. I am also great in the house.I have no aggressions at all and will wait to eat til told ok. I get along fine with other dogs. Not sure cats would be a good match nor chickens, as at times I have dug holes to try to escape from the acreage to get to the chickens next door... chicken al fresco. So, best without the temptation around. You will not find any behavioral issues with me (other than chickens), so should be fine with older kids. You'll see I am bright-eyed and happy. Very loyal and clever too. Bet you could teach me tricks.I really need to find a home with my buddy, Olivia (also posted), as we are quite bonded with one another. Energy Level: moderate I get along with:Dogs: yesCats:  noKids: no Prey drive: fairly high. My adopter needs to be willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. Fears: none observed. Training: house and leashLeash skills: yes Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home. Health notes:I am spayed/neutered, vaccinated & microchipped. The adoption fee for me and my buddy Olivia together is a whopper deal at $800. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##1374363##

Story
Hello! My name is Bandit and I would love to join your active family! I am a 2 and a half year old, 37 pound blue heeler/Australian Shepherd cross who grew up in B.C. My height is 21.5 inches. My current humans don't have much information on me as they found me at theSPCA two years ago. They were told that for my first 6 months of life I was confined in a small bathroom with my brother. For the past 2 years, I have had a very good life with my current humans who have involved me in all kinds of activities. They know that I just love to be with my people and to do fun things. Let me tell you a few things about the 2 breeds that I represent. Both are herding dogs who just love to be working with sheep or the like, herding them to wherever the human in charge wants them. I am quite representative of a number of herding dogs. I am smart, active, quick to learn commands, highly loyal to my humans, and definitely avoidant of all kinds of aggressive activities with other dogs. My goal is to please my people by carrying out the jobs they want me to do.  I would love to find a new home with acreage so that I can show how helpful a guy I can be. I even start to carry out my genetic skills even without acreage. I have been known to try to herd shoes, clothing, and people. This behaviour isn't always understood or appreciated. One way I love to get out my herding energy is by retrieving a ball, something which most humans can appreciate about me.  I am not a city guy who loves to walk on leash by your side. That being said, I love going for walks with my humans (particularly after a good run at the dog park) but I appreciate either a longer leash than one of those usual short ones or no leash at all. Once I trust you enough to show you that I have recall, I'm a really good dog off leash. In short, I love walks in the woods or generally outdoors where I can sniff, socialize, and play with other dogs I meet. I am a very social dog with no aggressive tendencies. That being said, I do have the heeler behaviour of mouthing the arms or legs of other creatures that I'm genetically bred to herd. Sometimes my mouthing can be a bit much but rest assured, there is no aggression in it whatsoever. I likely will decrease this behaviour with some training on an ecollar that buzzes when I carry out behaviours that belong with the sheep and not with humans. I am also a big cuddler with humans and also a playful guy with cats, especially if they don't run away from me! My current humans describe me as loving, energetic, playful, and a marvelous runner.  The reason I am seeking a new home is because I haven't been the best match with a new baby in the family. I love her but I have a habit of treating her like a sheep. I would be fine with older kids who can be calm around me and understand my breed-specific behaviours when kids are running infront of me. As you can see, I'm a loving, loyal, kind, social, and work-motivated dog who would love to join your family and show you how wonderful a family member I can be. I am house-trained, even to the point of asking to go out. I am also up to date on my Bordetella, rabies, and parvo/distemper vaccines. I have a clean bill of health! I am also microchipped and neutered. ##2301861##
