Story
🐶 🐕 PERKINS (aka PERK) Special Needs Male Border collie Mix 7 years, 52 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 Hi, my name is Perkins – just call me Perk - and I am about 7 years young. My Mom thinks I am a Border collie mixed with some type of guardian dog because I watch over my family and pack mates. I have notified them TWICE of rattlesnakes in our yard, barking loudly while keeping my pack mates at a safe distance away. Mom says I am a hero dog, as we have little kids and lots of dogs in our yard that need protection from dangers like that. Mom says I am special needs because I have some incontinence issues. I don't really know what that means. I let Mom and Dad know when I have to go potty, but when I am done, Mom says I leak. We've tried some different medicines and diagnostics, and Dad agrees it really isn't bad. When I hear the Velcro separate on my diaper I know its “free time” in the house. I stand still until I feel that little pat on my backside to signal it’s secure. Mom uses washable diapers, but I would probably do fine with other types as well. I don't like leaving my homestead, so when it's time for my checkup I get something special to help me relax. Everyone at the Vet’s office loves me and tells me what a good boy I am. Speaking of love, I love to chase a tennis ball. I may or may not bring it back depending on my whim at that moment. I also love to eat. Give me food, give me treats, YAY. I sit nice for my meals, which I always eat in my crate. I sleep quietly in my crate, but it's not my favorite place, and I will warn you if strangers are lurking outside because that’s my job. Oh, if you have that white stuff that’s cold, wet, and covers the ground that would be fun. I had a blast the one time it “snowed” here, that’s what my hoomans called it. Dad says he took the cutest video ever when I kept poking my nose out the doggy door, then retreated because what the heck is that? But once I was nudged out the door we had so much fun. I have been with my foster Mom and Dad for a few years and have helped with many of the other dogs and puppies that have come through our home, but I would also be fine as an only dog. I do enjoy playing at the other dog’s level. I wrestle with Skittles, because she is my size and she can take it, but I am gentIe with smaller dogs, or dogs not interested in that sort of thing. I am super friendly and loyal once I get to know you. I can be very vocal when I want something or when I am trying to warn you about something. I tolerate Mom's inside cats, but I don't like any cats in my yard. Mom says I need a cat-free environment for their benefit as well as mine (whatever that means). If you think you would be interested in me, and would like to learn even more about what makes me special, please submit an application so you can talk to my foster mom and dad (because we all know dogs can’t talk). Thank You, Perk PERKINS is micro-chipped, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Story
🐕 🐕 CORAL (Seafaring puppies) Female border collie mix approximately 18 weeks, 17 lbs & #AVAILABLE – For more photos please click https://norcalbcrescue.org/featured/CORAL/ 🐕 🐕 This sweet little sea soul is an absolute darling of a girl. At 17 lbs and 18 weeks, CORAL is out to steal your heart. Her smooth, soft white coat is highlighted with black spotted markings just emerging throughout her long body and cute ears. CORAL also has that signature border collie mark over her left eye. She came in with her brothers Marlin and Squid, but were separated about a week ago (you may have seen their preview post) and all are thriving. CORAL is gaining confidence daily. The Vet staff could not get enough of her. She took her shots and microchip injection like a champ. Her favorite part was the treats she got for being such a good girl. We have game night every Friday night here at the foster house. The first night she met the group, Coral was rather shy, but this past Friday night she did much better. We had her out the whole evening. She had fun playing with our friends, who gave her lots of attention. The rest of the evening she just parked herself next to one of us waiting patiently to be petted and treated. She takes her treats very gently. We are very proud of her. Coral is crate trained and sleeps quietly all night long. When she comes in from playing with her foster brothers and sisters, who are 3-4 times her size, she gets her fill of water then heads right to her crate for down time. She is doing well with her house training, but needs a little bit of work in that area. CORAL is very smart, mostly treat but also praise motivated, so training should be a blast. She mastered the doggy door almost immediately. Coral travels quietly in her crate with no signs of car sickness or stress. CORAL enjoys bones and toys, couch time, and playtime with the big dogs. They have really helped accelerate her progress. She’ll follow the dogs outside without dawdling about, and comes running with a short whistle. Mental stimulation and physical activities should put her on a track to stardom. Because she takes her queues so well from her foster siblings, we feel she would do best in a home with a well-balanced, playful dog, from whom she could continue to learn and grow to be the best gal she can be. CORAL is micro-chipped, spayed, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved application and wish to inquire, send an email to: adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have not filled out an application, or your application is more than 1 year old, fill out an application here: (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) CORAL is being fostered north of Corning in Tehama County, CA.
