🐶 🐕 PERKINS (aka PERK) Special Needs Male Border collie Mix 7 years, 52 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 Hi, my name is Perkins – just call me Perk - and I am about 7 years young. My Mom thinks I am a Border collie mixed with some type of guardian dog because I watch over my family and pack mates. I have notified them TWICE of rattlesnakes in our yard, barking loudly while keeping my pack mates at a safe distance away. Mom says I am a hero dog, as we have little kids and lots of dogs in our yard that need protection from dangers like that. Mom says I am special needs because I have some incontinence issues. I don't really know what that means. I let Mom and Dad know when I have to go potty, but when I am done, Mom says I leak. We've tried some different medicines and diagnostics, and Dad agrees it really isn't bad. When I hear the Velcro separate on my diaper I know its “free time” in the house. I stand still until I feel that little pat on my backside to signal it’s secure. Mom uses washable diapers, but I would probably do fine with other types as well. I don't like leaving my homestead, so when it's time for my checkup I get something special to help me relax. Everyone at the Vet’s office loves me and tells me what a good boy I am. Speaking of love, I love to chase a tennis ball. I may or may not bring it back depending on my whim at that moment. I also love to eat. Give me food, give me treats, YAY. I sit nice for my meals, which I always eat in my crate. I sleep quietly in my crate, but it's not my favorite place, and I will warn you if strangers are lurking outside because that’s my job. Oh, if you have that white stuff that’s cold, wet, and covers the ground that would be fun. I had a blast the one time it “snowed” here, that’s what my hoomans called it. Dad says he took the cutest video ever when I kept poking my nose out the doggy door, then retreated because what the heck is that? But once I was nudged out the door we had so much fun. I have been with my foster Mom and Dad for a few years and have helped with many of the other dogs and puppies that have come through our home, but I would also be fine as an only dog. I do enjoy playing at the other dog’s level. I wrestle with Skittles, because she is my size and she can take it, but I am gentIe with smaller dogs, or dogs not interested in that sort of thing. I am super friendly and loyal once I get to know you. I can be very vocal when I want something or when I am trying to warn you about something. I tolerate Mom's inside cats, but I don't like any cats in my yard. Mom says I need a cat-free environment for their benefit as well as mine (whatever that means). If you think you would be interested in me, and would like to learn even more about what makes me special, please submit an application so you can talk to my foster mom and dad (because we all know dogs can’t talk). Thank You, Perk PERKINS is micro-chipped, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. She and her four puppies were rescued together on October 20, 2025. Madeline has been a quiet, patient, and very gentle mom who loves people and learns quickly. The pups were about two weeks old at the time and have been thriving in foster care ever since. They are growing well, fully weaned, and will be 8 weeks old on December 1. All puppies are sleeping and napping happily in crates. They are learning to potty in designated areas. In their foster home they have been around big dogs, cats and people in a busy, noisy household. They all like crinkly noise toys, will chase a ball, and generally like things that roll. They are also starting to tug on small toys. The puppies are healthy, social, and developing their own individual personalities. MARCIE 7.5 lbs - The Life-of-the-Party - She brings the fun! Marcie’s the energetic, agile pup who wants to be part of every moment. Curious, brave, and always up for play, she’s the puppy who makes the whole room smile. LUCY 7 lbs - The Snuggle Bug With Sparkle - She loves affection and warms up quickly, but she also brings a cute bit of sass to keep things lively. Lucy’s a loving, people-focused pup who enjoys both quiet moments and playful bursts of energy. ADOPTED - SALLY 7.3 lbs - The Curious Best Friend - She is clever, people-focused, and always up for a small adventure. Marcie likes to stay close, watching and learning before she trots off to explore. She’s the perfect mix of brainy and affectionate. ADOPTED - CHARLIE 7.8 lbs- The Noble Softie - He has that “old soul” puppy energy — calm, smart, and a little bit regal. He prefers to observe first, then leap into play with confidence. As a condition of puppy adoption, they will need to be altered by their new owner when they reach approximately 6 months (specific time to be determined by your vet). In addition to the adoption fee, puppy adoption requires a $75 spay/neuter deposit. Upon our receiving the spay/neuter certificate from you, the deposit is refunded. Story
🐶 🐕 FRAZZLE Female Border collie mix approximately 6 - 8 Years, 32 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 Say hello to Frazzle, a 6-8-year-old sprite of a girlie, who at 32# is small enough to pack around. Don’t let Frazzie’s “middle age” fool you: she is quite energetic, prancing when she runs and loving no activities more than playing fetch and tug-of-war. Frazzles loves toys; her balls and her rubber bone are top two choices. She can entertain herself with them on her own, but also likes to play with her people. Frazzle also loves to explore the backyard on her own or with her foster family. She will take herself for long, roaming adventures around the farm, coming when she’s called, even if reluctantly. While she loves play, running, and adventuring, Frazzle easily settles down for a nap after activity. And returning home after being away is truly her favorite thing! Frazzie loves being near her people, even sleeping at their feet or next to their bed. While she isn’t a snuggler, she cheerfully accepts all the pets she can get. She greets visitors/new people with a wagging tail and a meek approach. She has good manners with visitors, refraining from jumping up. She occasionally will bark at a new person, if she gets excited, but hers is a happy bark of welcome, not one of warning or protection. Frazzle wants to play with the other dogs in her pack, but her play style is excitable and can be annoying to them: trying to steal their toys, playfully growling, barking, and jumping around. While she likes and wants to engage with other dogs, she might do best in a single dog home or with a very tolerant, similarly engaged dog. Frazzle chases cats she sees outside. She knows the word "no" and mainly obeys when she hears it, so she might be able to be trained not to chase a cat in the house. To be safe, she would probably do best in a home without cats. Frazzle has not been exposed to children in her foster home. Frazzle can be crated, but she doesn’t like to be. Her foster family doesn’t crate her when they go away or at night, and she’s perfectly fine. She’s housebroken and doesn’t get into anything. She has nice house manners. Frazzle is a biddable dog, but she still has things to learn; for instance, not pulling when she is asked to walk on a leash or barking in excitement. Frazzle has a somewhat comical gait. And it certainly does not impinge on her activity and mobility; she can run, climb, etc. and for as long as she wants. She is not as crazy active as a typical working border collie—which for some folks would be a plus--nor is she a candidate for long bouts of forced exercise like running next to a bike or many-mile leashed hikes. That said, she can do anything an active companion dog can do. Frazzle is a delightful, happy dog, social and enthusiastic. She would love to find a home of her own, where she can play and explore with her people. A home where she can be someone’s darling girl. FRAZZLE is micro-chipped, spayed, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about DAPHNE, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. FRAZZLE is fostering in Oroville in Butte County, CA.

Story
🐶 🐕 MISS MABEL Female Border collie mix approximately 1 Year, 28 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 Introducing “MISS MABEL.” Every NCBCRA adoption is special, but here is an opportunity to adopt a truly exceptional little girl. Miss Mabel is a beautiful blue and white smooth-coated border collie, weighing 28 pounds and standing about 17” at the shoulder. She is estimated to be about one year old. She is a well-balanced, muscular little girl with brown inquisitive and curious eyes. Miss Mabel is incredibility social and playful once she gets to know you in familiar surroundings. She is goofy, fun, extremely energetic, sweet, and very curious. She loves to explore the yard on her own, yet mostly stays within eyesight of her humans when outside. MISS MABEL desires a person / trainer who wants to spend significant time with her and who will continue to train her slowly to reach her true full potential. Her recall is 100% solid even with distractions. On recall (whistle), Mabel will run and jump any obstacle to get to you. She truly knows her person is the most interesting and important thing in her life, and she really wishes to please. In training, Mabel is learning to sit, stay, stand, and down. Her on-leash and off leash training sessions are short and several times a day with positive reinforcement and/or food treat rewards. Currently, Miss Mabel is not overly toy motivated, but her interest is improving. With patience and positive reinforcement training, Miss Mabel could become an excellent sport and/or agility dog; she is fast, agile, and learns very quickly. Like most high drive young border collies, MABEL excels in a structured environment, and she is quick to learn. That said, she requires consistent supervision, so that she learns what you want her to learn and avoids learning habits you don’t want and may have to untrain. Mabel is very smart and sensitive. So, she needs someone who understands this combination of traits and can work skillfully with them. In her foster home, she learned very quickly to walk on leash inside the backyard and in familiar surroundings. However, when in unfamiliar areas, she becomes nervous and fearful, relying on her person for support and confidence. Her nervousness is improving with thoughtfully paced exposure to new areas and support. Miss Mabel, while on-leash, has shown no aggression toward other dogs. She gets along very well with her foster brother. They will run and play constantly when outside. However, she is possessive and will push and crowd her way between you and another dog. Miss Mabel does not share well and would do best in a single dog home. She has spent time with well-mannered children and loves to play. Miss Mabel has not been exposed to babies. She does display a high drive and has shown “interest” in both squirrels and cats and should live in a cat-free home. MISS MABEL does extremely well in her dog crate. While in foster care, she has not had any accidents in the house or in her enclosed hard-sided crate. Mabel sleeps soundly and quietly in her crate through the night. When let outside, Mabel will relieve herself on command with positive reinforcement and a food treat reward. In foster care, Mabel can be free in the house. However, she is not allowed to be on any furniture and prefers the security of her crate with the door open. Mabel is very content in her crate, with her chew toy, for down time, to take her meals, and to sleep. Miss Mabel travels calmly and quietly in a hard-sided crate when riding in the car. MISS MABEL desires a full-time person who will love her with the same intensity she gives back. She is truly an exceptional little girl, a delight to live with and a joy to train. MISS MABEL is micro-chipped, spayed, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about DAPHNE, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. MISS MABEL is fostering in Loomis in Placer County, CA.
