Story
Hello- my name is Acha. My friend, Bella, and I were surrendered to the rescue when our owners couldn’t take care of us anymore. I am 4 years old and look like a border collie/springer spaniel mix, but that is just my rescue's best guess. I am very friendly and social- with humans and with the other dogs I've met at the rescue (not a fan of cats though). I walk very well on leash and know a few basic commands. I have a very gentle personality, so would make a great family dog!My $250 adoption fee includes vet check, up-to-date vaccinations, spay, heartworm test (negative), microchip and deworming. If you want to make me part of your family please go to www.gofar.dog and complete a free, non-binding adoption application. If you encounter any issues with our website, please email adoptions@gofar.dog.If you have questions, email my rescue at adoptions@gofar.dog. If you'd like to experience all the love I have, and want to make me part of your family, please complete the adoption application by pasting this link into your browser: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=sm2546&method=online_form_html&formid=21

Story
Miller is a 3-year-old Black Tri Heeler. He was owner relinquished. His family went through a divorce and he was living in an apartment in a crate most of the day. They couldn't offer him the life he deserved.Great with other dogs!Loves to run and play fetch! He is a snuggle bug and super sweet. He would be an excellent Farm Dog, he's a herder!!Crate trained. Potty trained. Leash trained Knows basic commands.Learns very fast!Miller is super smart and needs a job. He LOVES car rides! He would be a phenomenal agility dog!He loves water! He's learned to wait his turn for treats with other dogs. He's learning to be good with chickens, he runs through them for fun and is just curious. He's pretty good with cats. If the cat runs from him he will probably run after it. If it stands up to him he'll be terrified of it.So far, he's not great with little kids but good with older kids. However, that's likely just an exposure/training issue. He has had some good experiences, but if his boundary is involved he's reactive.Miller has very strong protective genes. He is boundary reactive if an unknown someone is approaching his space that he is 'supposed to protect'. He recalls by name extremely well with treats, and will go to his crate or his room on command. You can also have him sit and focus on a treat while new people enter the space around him, which helps. A harness with a handle has proven very helpful. He can be amazing with new people once he's introduced properly. Restaurants and the drive-thru are too overstimulating because he's trying to protect the space around him and he's not sure what to do with the new people that enter. This is again something that could be trained. He has gone to stores like Tractor Supply and been fine because he doesn't own the space.Miller needs a home that understands this breed and can offer him the outlet to safely act on his natural instincts in a controlled environment. A big yard or farm and some training would go a long way. If he could guard a fence line or gate instead of a front door that would be ideal.
