Story
Posted April 2026 This sweet boy was rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico by some caring good samaritans. Our rescue partners were able to get him fully vetted before being able to have him fly to us, he is now in a wonderful foster home here in Maine. Josh is approximately 6 months old and 25 lbs with a little growing and filling out still to do. He is currently living with a family who have younger children, he is doing amazingly well for such a young pup and showing he is already housebroken! He loves walks and adventures, once he has exerted that young pup energy Josh is happy to sleep through the night in his crate without making a peep! Josh would love a fenced yard to zoom around in and would do well with other dogs although currently is an only dog in the household and is fine with that too. He is showing too much interest towards the felines in the home so he is looking to join a cat free family. This boy has so much joy and love to give and we are excited to help him find his forever family! If you are interested in meeting Josh or any of our cuties, please fill out the adoption application. Please note: we do not have a physical facility where our dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout New England. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.

Meet Isaac, THIS SWEETHEART WILL BE KILLED WITHOUT HELP! Isaac came into our shelter as a stray. He walks great on leash, is very friendly, and is great with other dogs! We can not believe someone would dump this boy. He’s such a sweetheart and doesn’t deserve to die here. PLEASE TEXT KAREN 4146298152

Story
As a rescue, We do not euthanize dogs but dogs that are listed as URGENT are still waiting to be saved from animal control and they do euthanise. We can only save them when space is available or have an adopter. Meet MANGO the boy has found himself in animal control, he did nothing wrong his humans have abandoned him 💔☹️, they deserve a pup like him. Dog friendly, playful, loves attention, and belly rubs this is how I would describe him. Fully vetted, neutered. And microchipped. Would make a great companion, walking buddy or just relax and cuddle with you on the sofa. Adopt MANGO

Story
COURTESY POST PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY Meet Kip. He is a big, rough collie weighing 85 lbs. who will be 4 years old in May. He is a professional counter surfer and tailgater who believes everything should made into a game. Kip’s motto is a “tired dog is a good dog”. He thrives on tongue dragging games of fetch and long hikes in the woods. He loves to play with other dogs but he can sometimes overwhelm his playmates. Playmates his age with lots of energy and excellent doggy social skills with an owner that knows how to que him to disengage would be perfect. Kip must have a person who has strong and consistent positive dog training skills that can help him reach his full potential. Kip would make a good go anywhere and do anything companion if given the chance. He craves interaction with his person. Kip was abused as a puppy and unfortunately learned that the only way he could protect himself was to defend himself. He does have a bite history. His new owner or family cannot and should not physically “punish” or “discipline” him in any way. Absolutely no children. Kip is very food motivated which makes him very easy to train. Amazingly he has no food aggression or resource guarding. He is not destructive when left in the house and does not have any separation anxiety. He might “mark” in a new home and he can get a bit “nippy” and “yippy” when excited like herding dogs can and he needs continued training to keep “all 4 on the floor”. Like all dogs, Kip thrives on a quiet, stable homelife with a predictable schedule. He is happiest sleeping near his person. The following are non-negotiable requirements: Kip requires a home with another young, active, large dog. A place with lots of land no neighbors and a fenced in yard is a must. You must own your own house and be within 3 hours of central Vermont. If interested please go to www.journeyanimalrescue.org to submit an application. Only once the application is approved will a meet and greet with all human and canine family members be set up. Adoption fee is 450.
