She spent the first part of her life as a stray with her sister Gumbo, then endured 7 long months in a shelter, where fear kept her pressed against the back of the kennel, hoping to disappear. Now in foster care, Leia is learning that the world can be kind. She’s a very sweet, gentle girl who’s just shy and unsure around new people. She may keep her distance at first or bark from across the room, but she’s never aggressive—just scared. With time and patience, her silly, playful side begins to shine, and it’s such a joy to witness. Leia’s ideal home will be calm and understanding, with someone who knows that building trust takes time. Once she feels safe, she loves being part of the action—especially if that action involves going for walks, which are truly the highlight of her day.
