Story
This good-looking male Collie (Tony) was brought to the HSOV on June 13, 2026 by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff after Tony was found on Milltown Road in the Newport Ohio area. Tony was accompanied by his companion Andrew (an older male brindle Labrador Retriever/Boxer mix). These boys had been making themselves at home and staying close to a kind individual's home for several days. That Good Samaritan posted their pictures on Facebook and tried in vain to locate their family. Tony is estimated to be 3-years old. He has a beautiful brown-and-white longhaired coat, a long fluffy tail, and a classic Collie face with dark brown eyes, a long slender muzzle, and short floppy ears. Tony has a sweet easygoing personality. He had very sore paws and was limping on one foot when he arrived at the Good Samaritan's home, so he has been given extra care by our HSOV kennel techs. Tony weighs approximately 60 lbs and walks gently on a leash. Tony has already been neutered. These photos were taken late in the afternoon/early evening on June 16th when HSOV Volunteer Robert accompanied Tony for outdoor photos. This boy has a sweet disposition and loved attention from Robert. Our photographer kept thinking of the famous Collie "Lassie" during Tony's photo session since he posed beautifully just like Lassie's publicity photos. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Tony was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family would have the opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Surprisingly, neither he nor Andrew were reclaimed. Note: We've learned that Tony does not like cats~

Story
Grizz is a handsome one-year old male Shepherd/Collie mix who is one of our most recent arrivals. This awesome young man was brought to the HSOV on May 8th 2026 by a Good Samaritan who found him in the Harmar Hill neighborhood of Marietta Ohio. Grizz has a tan/brown medium-haired coat with a patch of white on his chest, a long fluffy tail, and an adorable face with a tan mask, a slender muzzle, and short floppy ears. Grizz weighs approximately 50 lbs. These photos of Grizz were taken late in the morning on May 19, 2026 when HSOV Volunteer Jenna Pridemore was taking Grizz for a w-a-l-k while the temperatures were still cool. Grizz posed like a Westminster Show Dog for quick pictures .. But he was more interested in making the acquaintance of Brownie (a small male Beagle/MinPin mix) who was being walked by HSOV Volunteer Miley Kiggans. Since he was not reclaimed, Grizz could be fostered (or fostered-to-adopt) with an approved HSOV Foster/Adoption Application. Grizz will be neutered before being adopted by his new family. Grizz would likely be best placed in a home without small/young children. He would probably be good with older children. Update: Grizz went home with a foster family on May 28, 2026 so that he could enjoy a real home environment instead of spending his days/nights in a shelter kennel or a small floor crate. Grizz is still available as a foster-to-adopt. If you are interested in meeting Grizz, please submit an HSOV adoption application for approval so that we can arranged a meet-and-greet with Grizz' foster family. UPDATE: Grizz went home with another foster family on June 14, 2026 who plans to adopt him after he is neutered. **PHOTOS 5/19/2026** ... Grizz is merely an overgrown puppy at one-year old and may tend to be destructive since he is still in the chewing stage of his life .. And he needs a little extra supervision and obedience training. Grizz is also still working on his housetraining routine.
