Story
Hey, I'm Ham — a striking 3-year-old tricolor boy with Border Collie and Australian Shepherd smarts! 🐕 I'm neutered, social, and friendly with everyone I meet, and I've got the energy and playfulness to match my good looks. Fair warning: my beautiful black and brown coat needs regular grooming to stay fabulous, but it's totally worth it! If you're looking for an affectionate, cuddly companion who's ready for adventure, I promise I'm worth every bit of that tail-wagging love. ❤️

Story
Oliver is a handsome 2-year 9-month old male Border Collie mix who was surrendered by his owner on August 14th 2026. Oliver has a black medium-haired coat with a large patch of white on his chest, black freckles on his white legs/paws, a long tail with a white tip on the end, and a sweet face with dark brown eyes, a splash of white on the right-hand side of his muzzle, and large floppy ears. This good-looking boy may look familiar to many of our HSOV volunteers and Facebook followers since Oliver originally came to our shelter on November 13th 2025 after he was found on State Route 339 in the Vincent Ohio area. These original photos were taken on November 14th 2025 when HSOV Volunteer Jennie Payton Sherrard accompanied Oliver for outdoor photos. When we walked back into the shelter, it was touching to see Oliver politely begging for bites of a donut (no icing) when he noticed two volunteers enjoying Tim Horton donuts in the lobby. Oliver 'sat pretty' and was rewarded with several bites of donuts before returning to his floor crate. Oliver went home with a foster family on December 7, 2025 who planned to adopt him after he was neutered but, unfortunately, he was returned on March 24, 2026 because the foster family was unable to keep him. They reported that Oliver would do best without young kids in his home. Oliver is housetrained. Oliver was neutered on February 19, 2026. He weighs approximately 45 lbs and is housetrained. We were thrilled when Oliver was adopted late in the afternoon on June 14th 2026 .. But heartbroken again when Oliver was returned on August 14th 2026. Apparently Oliver was nippy with his adoptive 'Dad', and he was selective about whom he felt comfortable with. His adoptive family also shared that Oliver was frightened of super-hyper children and loud chaotic environments, so Oliver is looking to find a loving home with a family or individual who has a quiet, stress-free lifestyle. Oliver is good with other dogs. We don't know yet how he feels about cats. Oliver has exhibited 'resource guarding' behavior but it wasn't clear when he guarded food or toys/possessions. We look forward to taking updated outdoor photos of Oliver when the monsoon rains and thunderstorms stop moving through the mid-Ohio Valley.
