Story
Meet Nash! At 5 years old and 30 pounds, Nash is a handsome Collie mix with a heart every bit as big as his goofy grin. This sweet boy`s journey hasn`t been the easiest—he was found as a stray and arrived at the shelter severely underweight. Thanks to the love and dedication of our volunteers, Nash has been steadily gaining weight and showing everyone what an incredible dog he truly is.Nash is the perfect combination of friendly, gentle, and curious. He loves meeting new people, enjoys exploring the world around him, and is always up for an adventure. Despite his playful personality, he`s surprisingly quiet and well-mannered. He walks like an absolute dream on leash, is wonderfully polite, and is happiest simply spending time with his favorite people. One of Nash`s favorite pastimes is chasing tennis balls! With his medium energy level, he`s happy to enjoy a fun game or a nice walk before settling in for cuddles on the couch. During his time in a foster home, Nash proved what a wonderful housemate he is. He`s housetrained, doesn`t bark much, has excellent manners, and is incredibly affectionate. He`s the kind of dog who fits right into family life.Nash does have Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI) and a vitamin B12 deficiency, but don`t let those big names scare you—they`re very manageable. EPI simply means his pancreas doesn`t produce enough digestive enzymes to properly process food. To help him stay healthy, he gets a digestive enzyme powder mixed into each meal and takes a daily chewable vitamin B12 tablet. These are lifelong medications, but they`re easy to give, and with his special diet and routine, Nash can live a happy, healthy life and thrive in his forever home.Compatibility with dogs, cats, and children is currently unknown. He has shown great potential with other dogs while at the shelter. If you have a resident dog, we`ll schedule a meet-and-greet so everyone can get acquainted before adoption.Nash is available through our Foster-to-Adopt Program, allowing you to bring him home while he completes his routine veterinary care with our shelter veterinarian. He is already neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested negative for heartworm disease. It`s a wonderful opportunity for him to settle into home life while finishing the final steps toward adoption.Could Nash be the missing piece your family has been waiting for?
