Story
🌟 Meet Noir — The Sweet Soul Who’s Learning She’s Safe Noir’s life could have ended before it ever truly began. She was rescued just moments before she wandered onto a high speed highway—frightened, trembling, and trying to make sense of a world that had not been kind to her. After she was brought to safety, we searched and waited, hoping someone would come for her—hoping she was missed. But no one ever did. For a while, it felt like Noir had been invisible. Not anymore. Because the most beautiful part of Noir’s story is what’s happening now: she’s beginning to bloom. With gentle support and time, Noir has started to transform in the quiet, powerful way that only truly resilient dogs can. She’s learning that hands can be kind. That rest can be peaceful. That she doesn’t have to run anymore. She’s learning—slowly but surely—that she is safe, that she matters, and that she is not alone. Noir is incredibly gentle and sensitive, the kind of dog who doesn’t demand the spotlight but will absolutely shine once she knows her heart is protected. She’s a “diamond in the rough” in the truest sense—soft, tender, and full of quiet potential, just waiting for the right person to help her confidence grow. 💛 The Home Noir Dreams Of Noir doesn’t need a perfect home—she needs a patient one. A calm space, a steady routine, and a person who understands that trust is a journey, not a race. She’s looking for someone who will celebrate the small victories: the first relaxed sigh, the first tail wag, the first time she chooses to come closer on her own. If you’ve ever wanted to be the reason a dog learns what love feels like, Noir may be the one. Because sometimes, all it takes is one person to change a life forever—and Noir is ready to believe that her person is out there. 🐾 About Noir Noir is between 1 – 2 years old and weighs about 45 pounds. She is health, vaccinated, and spayed. She is good with other dogs, children and leaves cats in her foster home along. Story
Hi there, I’m Donny!I am a sweet boy who gets excited when seeing new people. I can be a bit nervous if people come on too strong but love when they are calm and gentle! I arrived as a stray found roaming in the country. My past is unknown but my GHS humans wonder if I`ve ever lived in a home before. I love to spend ALL day in the outdoor portion of my kennel and would probably stay there all night too, if they`d let me - they don`t, despite my numerous requests, in case you`re wondering. While I was nervous about walking on leash and going through doorways, in just a few quick weeks, I`m now excelling at both! I`m treat motivated and love to bring my toys with me when I lounge outside. I am looking for a home with patient humans that will continue to help me grow my confidence!MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: Teenagers should be okay, but no young children given my sensitive nature.OTHER DOGS: Yes, please! A well-socialized, playful dog would be great!CATS: Potentially, with cat confident & experienced with large dogs.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: No, I’m sensitive and would do best with someone who has dog experience.FENCED-IN YARD: Yes, so I have a safe place to lounge outside, which is one of my favorite things to do! Rural without a fence may also be an option.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: Any home with a private yard or rural.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME…ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium.HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes.If you think I would make a good match for your home, please click the `Adopt Me` button to apply!*In celebration of found family, if I’m adopted during the month of June, my friends at Royal Canin are pleased to offer you one month of my pet food for free!*FOSTER ME! I’m excited to be selected as part of the Paisley Project and I’m looking for a foster home! If your home environment matches what I’m looking for based on the information above, please consider applying to foster me by copying and pasting the following link to fill out the questionnaire: https://guelphhumane.ca/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=frm_forms_preview&form=7y88o.The Paisley Project aims to match selected, long-stay animals at GHS with fosters that can provide a home that gradually introduces them to the everyday experiences of life as a pet. Fosters will offer the routine, structure and stability needed to help get animals ready for their new family. Learn more at

Story
Hi there, I’m Firefly!I’m a bundle of energy waiting for a friend like you! You won’t believe how smart I am: I’m able to open doors with a flick of my paw. Fetch is my favourite game, I could play for hours! And here’s a fun fact: when I see “wet floor” signs here at the shelter, I jump over them like a hurdle instead of walking around. Agility training, anyone?! Living in a rural area would be a dream for me, with plenty of space to run and explore. I would love to join a family that has experience with dog breeds like me!MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: Teenagers should be ok, but I wouldn’t be best around young kids.OTHER DOGS: No, I bark and pull when I see other dogs. I might be able to make a dog friend with time, a gradual intro, and very easy-going dog.CATS: No, given my prey drive. FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: No, someone with herding breed experience would be most ideal.FENCED-IN YARD: Required, unless you live rurally, to help meet energy needs.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: A rural home would be ideal for me, otherwise, any with fully-fenced yard.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME…ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium-high.HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes.If you are interested in adopting me, please click the `Adopt Me` button to apply!*In celebration of found family, if I’m adopted during the month of June, my friends at Royal Canin are pleased to offer you one month of my pet food for free!*
