Story
Finn needs to be retrained around food aggression involving children. He does well with teens, adults and chickens. He does not do well with cats and small children. His aggression is exhibited in nipping behavior. He takes well to correction but needs a loving, consistent hand. He knows basic commands but could use some help with walking on a leash and recall. Finn is a loving and gentle dog outside of the food aggressive tendencies with children. He would do well with a family without small children or cats.

Story
Leo is an incredibly loyal Australian Cattle Dog mix looking for an active home! Adopted as a puppy in 2017, he's up-to-date on vaccinations and in good health. Our upcoming move with small children means we can no longer meet his needs. Leo excels off-leash—staying close and checking in regularly. On trails, he scouts ahead before returning to make sure you're following. He comes immediately when called and is a true "velcro dog" who loves affection. Leo is good with other dogs and children (note: he has a herding dog's natural nipping instinct) and is fully house-trained. His favorite activity is playing with his blue ball, which he'll chase for hours! He would thrive with someone active who can give him the exercise, companionship, and love he deserves.

Story
PICKETT Pickett was born in 2015. He is about 45 pounds, mostly black. He is a mystery mix. LOVES EVERYONE! He gets along with all people - he's a hugger and kisser Loves other dogs - moderately playful. He does try to hump the first time meeting, but is easily corrected. Loves cats. Great on the leash. And in the car. He's not young, but has tons of puppy like energy. LOVES toys and bones. Good house manners. HOWEVER, when unsupervised he should be crated or he may chew inappropriately. He was with a rescue for the last seven years and was never chosen somehow - despite his super friendly adorable personality. That rescue closed, he went to a local shelter, and knowing him personally, I had to bring him here HE DESERVES A WONDERFUL HOME. He's a hoot! Story
Hickory is the sweetest boy!!!  This Red Heeler boy pup is one of the sweetest boy pups and his tenderness makes him the puppy who loves being close to his people. When he’s let outside for playtime, his first instinct is to greet whoever is nearby—just to make sure they know he’s there. He can be a little shy at first, but once he realizes you’re safe, he quickly comes out of his shell and shows his affectionate side.   His back story is that he was found with his momma and her 6 puppies, on a country back road in Middle Tennessee, loose and running helter skelter.  This family of momma and 6 puppies were heartlessly dropped off for reasons we will never understand.  Momma is a pure bred Red Heeler called Red Sedona and also seeking a new and Heeler savvy, loving home.  The family was found on Feb. 13th and taken to the local small overcrowded shelter.  Two days later Critter Cavalry Rescue had a wonderful foster mom who helps with litters and their mommas, take them in and get them started on a good path of medical care and human love and socializing.   For a pure bred Heeler, Hickory is on the calmer side and definitely an observer.  At just 8 weeks of age he is only 7 pounds and one day should be a 30-35 pounds smaller Heeler. He would thrive with an active family that has space, a fenced yard and lots of outdoor time spent doing things that satisfies his herding nature and working breed traits.  He loves to explore and would love to have jobs to perform.  He is already showing those classic Heeler instincts by trying to herd the kids around the yard.  Dog savvy children will be fine with this.  After some much-needed playtime, Hickory is happiest snuggling up next to you for a cozy nap.  Because he comes from a highly intelligent breed of dog, you will need to be smarter than him at all times.  He is already catching on to potty training and knows that a crate is necessary for nighttime sleep and containment.  He is so compliant to all of the new training he is being taught.  He loves it.    Hickory is currently being fostered with young kids, large dogs, and a cat. He’s done well with everyone so far, though he’s still a little unsure about the cat and may bark. With proper introductions and a dog-savvy cat, we think he’ll adjust just fine.  If you are interested in adopting this very smart and sweet pup, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and tell us where you live.  We adopt to not only our Tennessee residents where our rescue is located, but we adopt to the northeastern states as well.  If being adopted out of state, he will be ready early April.  If local to Tennessee, he is ready now to continue his training and bonding with a family in a new Tennessee home.       PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 8, 2026, 9:04 pm
