Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sweet Rusty is one of the cutest and most submissive dogs we have, and we thought we would have no trouble finding him a home. When he was diagnosed with heartworm, however, we wanted to treat him first so he would be able to play and fit nicely into a home. He is fortunate to have been selected for foster care by one of our devoted, foster families, and she has determined to see him through his treatment. He is the handsomest beagle mix you can imagine, about 35 pounds, and a real love with other dogs. He is also excellent with kids and ignores the cats he sees. He's doing well at his foster home but would love a home of his own.   PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. For questions about the pet, please email us at FOACinfo@gmail.com. All adoptions begin with an application, found under the "Animals" tab on our website, friendsofcampbellcounty.org. *Unaltered babies under the age of six months can be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, and counties touching Campbell County. *Unaltered adult pets six months or older will need to be sterilized before they can be adopted outside our local area of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell. *We do not promote dog adoptions to homes where an invisible fence is the fencing of choice. *We do not permit cats or kittens to be declawed following adoption.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 28, 2026, 9:39 am

Story
James is very active, he needs somewhere safe to be outside and run around. I love James, but I realized I am not active enough for him and I really do not have the finances to keep his shots up to date, etc. I rescued him from a kill shelter a couple of years ago. They told me at the shelter he had bit a child, so he is not good with children, he does have some separation anxiety so if you are active and work from home, you would be the perfect person for him. He is house trained and has never damaged anything inside my house. I realize that he needs someone with more energy than me, he really does love his person and deserves someone who will be outside and active with him. Adoption price is negotiable to the right home.

Story
Lenny is a fairly new arrival to his foster home, and he is doing great! He is a well-mannered adult collie, housebroken, smart, and loving. He plays well with his collie foster siblings and is great at turn taking. He is very much a Velcro dog, following his foster mom everywhere she goes! He’s affectionate and gives little kisses. Lenny loves hiking in the snow, and bursts into play regularly! He’s a neutered male and is doing well with dogs of all genders and ages. He is very polite in the house, knows “sit,” walks well on a leash, and rides well in a car. In public he is confident and curious and wants to meet all the people! If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Our standard adoption fee is $450. This fee helps us to cover (and sometimes only partially cover) the expense of providing each dog with a Health Exam, Rabies/DHPP vaccines, Heartworm Test, Heartworm Preventative, Flea & Tick Protection, Microchip, Neuter/Spay, a Bath and any other medical needs.  Thank you for your consideration in adopting a collie in need!!! Story
Kaylee is a 6-year-old Rough Collie with a big presence, a bigger coat, and an even bigger heart. From the moment you meet her, she’s friendly, polite, and happy to make a good impression—often sealed with one of her signature Collie chin kisses. She enjoys interacting with people, has lovely manners (no jumping!), and knows her “sit” cue very well. On leash, Kaylee is a pleasure. She walks nicely without pulling and is calm and attentive. At home, she’s equally well-behaved—she is not destructive (no chewing, digging, or mischief). One thing to know about Kaylee: she is vocal and likes to keep her humans informed of interesting sounds or sights. She takes her neighborhood watch duties seriously! Other Dogs Kaylee can live with other dogs, though slow introductions are important. She can be a bit pushy or dominant in her play style and was initially standoffish with her current canine companion. With time and proper introductions, they are now great friends—playing together, sharing beds and toys, and happily coexisting. Considering that successful match is between two adult females, that’s no small achievement! Cats & Other Animals Cats are unfortunately a no for Kaylee. She is very reactive to them, and even dog-savvy cats are uncomfortable around her. We believe she would chase, and the safest choice is a cat-free home. We don’t have experience with young children or small dogs, so we can’t offer guidance there. Kaylee is a big solidly built Collie with a thick, beautiful coat. The Ideal Home Kaylee would thrive with someone who appreciates: A well-mannered, affectionate adult dog A vocal Collie personality A cat-free household Kaylee is a wonderful blend of sweet, sensible, and spirited. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with classic Collie charm and don’t mind a little commentary on daily life, Kaylee just might be your girl.
