Story
PICKETT Pickett was born in 2015. He is about 45 pounds, mostly black. He is a mystery mix. LOVES EVERYONE! He gets along with all people - he's a hugger and kisser Loves other dogs - moderately playful. He does try to hump the first time meeting, but is easily corrected. Loves cats. Great on the leash. And in the car. He's not young, but has tons of puppy like energy. LOVES toys and bones. Good house manners. HOWEVER, when unsupervised he should be crated or he may chew inappropriately. He was with a rescue for the last seven years and was never chosen somehow - despite his super friendly adorable personality. That rescue closed, he went to a local shelter, and knowing him personally, I had to bring him here HE DESERVES A WONDERFUL HOME. He's a hoot! Story
Dodge is a toung, strikingly handsome Blue Heeler/Lab mix with a bright spirit to match his good looks. About one year old and weighing 43 pounds, this mostly black shiny boy has a beautiful gray-speckled chest that gives him a regal, eye-catching look. With longer legs and a slimmer build than a typical Heeler, he carries himself with confidence and athletic grace. Whatever breeds make up his DNA, one thing is certain — Dodge is sweet, playful, and incredibly smart.   Dodge’s story began in the countryside, where he arrived at a rental home alongside a female Heeler mix and their six puppies. When the family couldn’t keep dogs, a cattle dog rescue stepped in to save the puppies, the mama was rehomed, and Dodge found his way to Critter Cavalry Rescue so he could be fully vetted and matched with the perfect home. Still very much a puppy at heart, Dodge brings goofy charm, happy energy, and a love of life wherever he goes. A fenced yard and an active household will help him burn off his enthusiasm and enjoy the adventures he craves.   He gets along wonderfully with dogs of all ages and sizes, is respectful of cats, and would likely be a hit with kids who can keep up with his playful nature. Dodge is learning leash skills quickly and would make an excellent walking partner. He’s eager to learn, quick to please, and happiest when he’s close to his people, watching over them and soaking up attention. With continued training, Dodge is going to be an incredible lifelong companion. If you’re ready for a fun, smart, and loyal sidekick, email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and tell us your city and state. Story
**A generous donor has paid Dallas's adoption fee.** Looking for a best friend who’s equal parts athlete and snugglebug? Meet Dallas – a high-energy goofball who’s always ready for a game of fetch, a good rope toy battle, or a high-speed chase with his doggy pals. Dallas is a social butterfly who thrives in the company of other high-energy dogs and absolutely lives for agility training and playtime classes. He’s the star student who brings the zoomies and the charm to every session—and yes, he will try to win over the trainer with cuddles. He struts with purpose (especially if there’s a squirrel nearby 👀). Wildlife, you’ve been warned. But when it’s time to wind down? Dallas transforms into a world-class cuddler. If he’s lying down, he will find someone—human or dog—to snuggle up with. Personal space? Never heard of it. Tennis balls are his love language. Rope toys are his jam. And long walks make his tail wag nonstop. A home with a playful pup buddy is his dream (just no cats—he’s a bit too enthusiastic for feline friends). If you’re looking for a fun-loving, smart, snuggly sidekick who’ll keep you active, entertained, and loved every single day, Dallas might just be your perfect match. 💚 Adopters have 30 days of free access to 1-on-1 text and email support from trainers at Petcademy to help make every pet's transition into their new home as smooth as possible. All dogs available for adoption have been spayed/neutered, microchipped and are current on all vaccinations. Please email dogs@henricohumane.org for more information.

Maisie is the sweetest girl. She loves to play. She loves making new human and dog friends everywhere she goes. She needs someone with a large, fenced in yard or a large plot of land/farm. She is not aggressive but she is physically intense and becomes anxious and overwhelmed in smaller apartment spaces. Maisie will need a structured environment. She is very smart and trainable, but she has endless energy and needs tasks to put her mental energy to use. She would make a great dog for agility training or as a working dog. She would also absolutely adore having a dog friend at home to play with!!!She likely has some sort of sporting breed mixed in as she is extremely focused and driven. She would not do well in an apartment or small space and needs an experienced adopter/trainer willing to work with her. Please contact with questions or if you would like to see more pictures/videos. Story
Kona is probably the smartest dog we have ever had. She is obedient and responds to training. She is affectionate and eager to please. She is not aggressive but is protective and defensive. We have had a couple incidents where she has engaged with other dogs and now that we have small grandchildren, we think she would be better in a home without small children. She has not bitten anyone and I don’t think she will. She would be great on a farm where she can run off some of her abundant energy. She is crate trained and is safe to leave at home unattended. She is heathy with the exception of being a little overweight.

Story
Lilly is a beautiful, young female Australian Shepherd. She is a black tri with gorgeous blue eyes. She is about 3years old and weighs 40 pounds. Lilly had a litter of adorable pups, but she has recently been spayed. Lilly's personality has quickly emerged the last couple weeks, and she is very energetic and playful. She has mastered the art of both chasing a ball AND returning it! She even conveniently drops it close by (to speed up the time until you fling it away again!) Lilly has shown no interest in chewing or gnawing on family belongings or furniture, but she loves to curl up on the floor or on a cushion right by your feet. Lilly eats well, sleeps well, and is an amazingly fast learner. She is coming along great with learning sit and shake and has made good progress in leash-walking. She is reactive on leash and will need continued training to overcome this. Lilly enjoys being with people and is eager to accompany you anywhere. She goes in a crate nicely with a treat and has been well-behaved when staying overnight in a crate.Lilly loves to be close to you, but she is also good about laying quietly nearby and giving space when you are occupied. NEEDS TO BE THE ONLY DOG -->>> Lilly has a more dominant, alpha female personality, and she would do best as the only dog in the family. Most of all, she is thrilled to be outdoors and would be phenomenal at any dog sport from agility to frisbee to flyball--she has the zip, speed, and enthusiasm to conquer any activity that you want to enjoy with her! Lilly was kept as a backyard breeding dog and as such will need continued training on leash, basic commands, controlling impulses and socialization. She absolutely LOVES LOVES LOVES people and is happiest spending her time with her foster humans! Spend some time with Lilly, and her bright and fun-loving nature will win your heart! Lilly is being fostered in Richmond, VA. If you think Lilly is the girl for you, please submit our adoption application at the link below! https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption... There is one additional fees: $20 microchip transfer fee to register and transfer her to her new furever family

Story
Hello, I’m Tatum! I’m a 1 ½ year old Australian Shepherd with a personality as big as my heart…and appetite. I’m on the smaller side of standard around 40lbs. When I am not busy running at mach 1 speed, I’m busy winning over your heart with my soulful eyes and a tail that wags more than a windshield wiper in the rain. I am a typical velcro dog so expect me to always be by your side. I absolutely love belly rubs and come with a set of commands that I already know, such as sit, paw and lie down, which always winds up with me demanding belly rubs. Did I mention that I love long walks anywhere and riding with you in the car? Like Hootie said, “I only wanna be with you!” While I must admit that I look quite stunning, do not let this cute face fool you. I need daily stimulation from my human, no matter the weather or time of day. It takes A LOT to wear me out, so a fenced yard is a must. I would love to work on a farm or get involved in dog sports like agility, flyball or dock diving. I prefer women, as men can be scary sometimes, which may elicit me to bark and growl at them, especially if they are standing. I have not shown any aggression toward men, I am just afraid. Any man in my life will need to commit to working with me and possibly seeking a trainer. I was adopted but returned when I began to guard my female adopter from my male adopter. I also prefer female dogs better but need slow and controlled introductions to any dogs. I like friends to play with but need to make sure that our personalities fit well together, so a meet and greet with all family members (human and dog) would be best! Finally, I do have some separation anxiety and can be frightened by loud noises and when I must go to the vet. I will need continued training to be the best boy that I can be. If given the opportunity, resources and a little bit of patience, I can be a very good boy and your best friend! I hope to soon find my furever home where I can be your constant companion. I have so much love to give! I am being fostered in Richmond, VA, but really need a new foster or adopter. (My current foster had to move into a smaller home & yard and 4 dogs is just too much.) Here is the application: australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family.
