Story
LADY (AKA MOMMA) Needs a Foster or Adopter by October 3 to Secure Her Ride to Wisconsin Lady, affectionately known as Momma, is currently in Georgia and needs a FOSTER or ADOPTER to secure her spot on the transport to Cedarburg, WI with Mutt Life Dog Rescue on Saturday, October 3, 2026. A committed home is required for her to make the trip, and we’re hopeful the right person is out there. Meet Lady (Momma) Lady is a 12-year-old Collie mix, best guess, who weighs around 51 pounds. She spent her entire life with her beloved owner, living a simple life deep in the woods. Sadly, her owner passed away suddenly after they returned home from getting groceries. Lady stayed faithfully by their side until EMS arrived the following day. After losing the only person she had ever known, Lady found herself in an unfamiliar shelter, surrounded by loud noises, strange smells, and so much loneliness. It has been incredibly difficult for her to go from her lifelong home and the person she loved to the shelter environment. Thankfully, the shelter staff have gotten to know Lady and have seen what a special girl she is. She loves everyone she meets and is happiest when she gets to be included in whatever her people are doing. She even enjoys helping supervise kennel cleaning! Lady doesn't ask for much — a soft bed, a few gentle pets, some treats every now and then, and maybe a leisurely walk down the street and back. Lady is kind, gentle, and quiet. She is good with dogs, cats, and kids. She can sometimes become overwhelmed, but she seems to thrive in the presence of other dogs, which may help her feel more comfortable as she adjusts to her new surroundings. Lady is partially blind in one eye, and when she first arrived at the shelter, it took her some time to get her bearings. She may need a little patience as she gets used to a new environment, but once she feels safe, she is simply happy to be near her people. At 12 years old, Lady deserves to spend her golden years in a home, not a shelter. She has already lost the person she loved and the life she knew. Now she needs someone willing to give her the soft landing she so desperately deserves. Could you help Lady?
