Story
Meet Piper. Piper is a 37 lb border collie/ golden retriever mix who has recently arrived in Wisconsin looking for her forever home! She’s super smart & super sweet & is well ahead of the curve, having had a fantastic foster before coming to Wisconsin. At 7 months old (you’d never believe that she’s still a puppy), she’s crate trained, potty trained, knows to sit, stay, walk on a leash, rides well in a car & even waits her turn at dinner & treat time. She’s also totally trustworthy in the house!Piper is currently fostered with 4 larger dogs & gets along great with them, plus loves everybody, including kids!As Piper’s herding dog traits are predominant, she has loads & loads of energy & needs to run, so unfortunately, will not do well in an apartment. So, if you have the energy to keep up with this beautiful, friendly, turn key girl, please fill out an application to schedule a meet & greet today! Apply at Rescuegang.org🦮 Walks well on a leash.🐶 Crate trained & potty trained🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 😸 Unknown with cats🐾 Up to Date with Vaccinations & is spayedDATCP#483538

Story
Henry is proof that you’re never too old to enjoy the good things in life! At 11 years old, this handsome boy is still full of happiness and has a lot of love to give. He is calm, incredibly sweet, affectionate, and just an all-around really good boy. Henry does wonderfully in a kennel when his family is away, but he is also perfectly happy snoozing on the couch, loveseat, or a comfy chair. Give him a blanket or furniture cover and he is one happy boy! His favorite place, though, is wherever his people are. Henry absolutely loves being with his family and would happily spend his entire day getting pets and soaking up attention. And don't let his age fool you, Henry LOVES his walks! He is a surprisingly fast walker and does quite well on leash. He rarely barks at other dogs and enjoys getting out and exploring. Squirrels can be a little tempting, but a gentle reminder is usually all it takes to get him refocused. He also enjoys going for car rides, although he has made it very clear that he is not a water dog. The beach was interesting, but getting in the water? Absolutely not! Henry is a polite gentleman when visitors arrive. He doesn't jump on people, although he is always eager to come over and say hello. He is generally quiet and isn't much of a barker. He may bark to let his family know someone has entered the cul-de-sac or when they are leaving, but otherwise he is a pretty quiet guy. Henry has been wonderful with everyone he has met. While he hasn't lived with very young children, his foster family believes he would do well with them. He has also enjoyed playtime with a 3-year-old Pug and did very well. He enjoys playing with other dogs, especially when they have a calm, friendly personality. When it comes to toys, Henry isn't particularly interested in them, and tug-of-war isn't his thing. His mouth can be sensitive due to missing teeth, so soft food and gentle activities are best for him. His foster family softens his dry food with water and adds a little pumpkin, which he does very well with. He also seems to have a sensitive tummy, so skipping table scraps and human food is best. Henry is continuing to work on his sit command and learns quickly with gentle guidance. Sometimes his excitement gets the best of him and he has a hard time staying seated, he is just so happy to be with you! But perhaps the best thing about Henry is simply Henry. He is a lover through and through. He wants to be close to his people, loves pets, and would gladly be your lap dog if you'll let him. He has wonderfully expressive ears that seem to tell you exactly what he is thinking! Henry would love a home with people who enjoy taking daily walks and who don't mind sharing the couch with a sweet senior boy. If you are looking for a calm, affectionate companion who will happily walk beside you and then curl up as close to you as possible, Henry may be exactly who you've been waiting for.
