Story
# Meet Sadie 💜 Some dogs fill your house with chaos. Sadie fills it with peace. At around 8 years old and 60 pounds, this sweet hound spent much of her life chained outside after being considered a "failed" hunting dog. But the people who gave up on her couldn't have been more wrong. Sadie isn't a failure, she's simply too gentle for the job they wanted her to do. Despite everything she's been through, Sadie has the kindest heart. She's calm, easygoing, and simply enjoys being near her people or another dog. She isn't the type to constantly climb in your lap, but she's happiest knowing she's part of the family. She's also perfectly content entertaining herself or snoozing on a comfy bed. Like many hounds, she has a little independent streak and can be wonderfully aloof at times. What she lacks in command training (typical hound) she make up for with personality and overall just being a "Good Girl". She is crate trained and has learned surprisingly good recall despite what hounds are known for (as long as it involves a treat). Her favorite part of every day? Dinner time. She'll never let you forget it's time to eat, greeting you with her adorable little tap dance and happy hound song that never fails to make us smile. Sadie isn't a high-energy dog. A couple leisurely strolls around the yard, following every interesting scent with that wonderful hound nose of hers, and she's a happy girl. The rest of the day is usually spent relaxing, watching the world go by, or quietly keeping you company. One of our favorite things about Sadie is the way her tail starts wagging every single time you walk into the room. It's such a simple thing, but somehow it makes every day just a little bit better. Sadie gets along beautifully with other dogs, is potty trained, and has wonderful house manners. At the veterinary office she's shown little interest in cats, though she hasn't lived with one, so a slow introduction would be recommended. Sadie completed treatment for advanced heartworm disease and came through it with incredible grace and resilience. As a result of the damage the heartworms caused before she was rescued, she'll likely need daily heart medication for the rest of her life. The good news is that her veterinarian expects her to have a normal life expectancy, and she doesn't let her heart condition slow her down one bit. Sadie is wonderfully low maintenance. She doesn't ask for much, just a soft place to sleep, breakfast and dinner served on time, a few chances to sniff around the yard, and someone to love her for the incredible dog she is. If you're looking for a calm, loyal companion who will quietly make every day a little brighter, Sadie just might be your perfect match. Adoption fee includes DHPP vaccine, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate) heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, wellness vet visit, one month of pet insurance and microchip. All animals are examined by a veterinarian. Please fill out our application at https://gkarma.wufoo.com/forms/good-karma-pet-rescue-dog-adoption-screening/ if you would like to adopt or meet this dog, and we will be in touch right away!

Story
Meet Viktor! A spirited three-year-old Coonhound/Foxhound mix currently in Youngsville, NC, whose essence is pure sunshine wrapped in a handsome tricolor coat and topped with wonderfully floppy ears. At about 55 pounds, Viktor is an adventure-loving boy who believes everyday life is better when shared with his favorite people! Walks, neighborhood explorations, backyard play sessions, and car rides all earn enthusiastic approval. He is medium-energy, leash trained, house trained, microchipped, neutered, and up to date on vaccinations. He also knows “sit” and comes when called, making him a cheerful companion for families who enjoy staying active. Then there is Viktor’s true specialty: snuggling! This professional cuddle expert has very little interest in personal space and may happily transform into a floppy noodle while settling into your lap. Belly rubs are always welcome, comfy beds are highly prized, and lounging on the couch or sunbathing in the yard can turn an ordinary afternoon into Viktor’s version of paradise. Viktor enjoys stuffed animals, chew toys, and playing with canine friends! He is friendly with other dogs and would especially enjoy sharing his new loving home with a compatible girl dog, although he can also thrive as the only dog when given plenty of exercise, enrichment, companionship, and attention. A fenced yard would be wonderful for playtime, but an active family without one could also keep his curious hound mind happily engaged. Children are friends in Viktor’s book, too! He is comfortable and gentle with kids of all ages and friendly toward new people. Cats, however, are not compatible with Viktor because their movement can activate his hound prey drive, so he needs a cat-free home. Viktor can manage short periods alone and is more comfortable loose than crated and he can be a little nervous during storms. Patient reassurance and positive reinforcement can help him feel secure. With his contagious smile, joyful spirit, and enormous talent for turning himself into a lap dog, Viktor brings affection, laughter, and companionship wherever he goes! Could Viktor be the smiling, snuggling sidekick joining you on your next adventure? If you’re interested in providing Viktor with a loving home, please email meetme@joyfulpets.com for more information about adopting him! Please note that Viktor is currently in foster care through one of our trusted rescue partners and will remain with his foster family until the right match is found. Because rescue-partner pets are managed directly by their respective organizations, their adoption process, requirements, and fees may differ from Joyful Pets’ direct rehoming program. Our team will be happy to connect you with the rescue and help guide you through their process to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Story
Hi, we are Salem, Cruella, and Babadook—well, those aren’t the names we were given, but since we can’t talk, the humans call us that. Even so, we are very happy to be here at Big Dog Ranch. We are friendly dogs who enjoy making new friends, both two-legged and four-legged. We like to run, play, and enjoy life together, but we can also be very sweet one-on-one when it’s quiet and calm. Even though people think we might be siblings, we are not bonded. We’re just three separate pups each hoping for the same thing: the perfect forever home. We’ve come a long way, and now we’re ready for the next chapter—one filled with love, patience, and a family of our own.
