Story
Peppa is a 10-year-old coonhound with a gentle soul and a lifetime of love to share. In her golden years, she’s mastered the art of balancing curiosity and calm—always ready to follow an interesting scent, but just as happy to settle into a cozy spot for a well-earned nap. With her classic hound features and wise, expressive eyes, Peppa carries herself with a quiet grace. She’s the kind of companion who doesn’t need to demand attention to be noticed—her steady presence and sweet nature speak for themselves. Whether she’s enjoying a slow walk, lounging in the sun, or keeping you company around the house, she brings a comforting, peaceful energy wherever she goes. Peppa’s years have given her a patient, loving temperament. She appreciates the simple things: a soft bed, a gentle voice, and time spent close to her favorite people. She may be a senior, but her heart is full, her spirit is warm, and she still has so much affection left to give. Story
Hi hi! I'm Algae. I am a silly and loveable boy. I originally came in as a stray at Marion County Animal Services. When I came to VOCAL, my new friends here learned quickly that the way to my heart is with toys! I can sometimes be a little intimidated and shy at first with new people, but it doesn't take me long at all to warm up and show my goofy side! I love attention and am very playful, and I get along with other dogs as well.

Story
Meet Birdie! Birdie is a 6-year-old, 60-lb spayed mixed breed who has been part of our family since she was a puppy. She is affectionate, people-oriented, and loves children. Birdie loves running, being outdoors, and spending time with her people. She would thrive in a home with a fenced yard or an owner who can provide plenty of exercise.Birdie is house-trained and knows “place,” “sit,” and “heel.” She can be selective with other dogs, so we have avoided dog parks and large groups of unfamiliar dogs. She would do best with thoughtful introductions to any potential dog siblings. This is a difficult decision for our family. Since welcoming a young child, we no longer feel we can give Birdie the time and attention she deserves. She has no history of biting or aggression toward people. We are looking for a loving home where she can thrive and be a cherished companion.

Story
Hello there, I'm Van Gogh. I'm named that because, well... I have a strange ear! But it doesn't get in the way of me having a good time. I was found as a stray though MCAS and then brought to VOCAL. I'm very friendly and love going on long walks and exercising my long deer-like physique. I do well with other dogs too! I enjoy going to play groups and socializing with some friends that I've made here. And now I'm ready to Gogh to my new home!
