Story
🐾 Meet Glenda! 🐾Glenda is a 5-year-old, 40-pound Coonhound with a sweet personality and a nose that’s always ready for adventure! She came to us as a stray after doing what Coonhounds do best—treeing a cat.✔️ Spayed and ready for her new home✔️ Good with children✔️ Can coexist with cats that don’t run✔️ Sweet, gentle natureGlenda is very much a typical Coonhound—her nose leads the way, and she loves to explore! Because of this, she will require secure confinement, as this breed is known for roaming when they catch an interesting scent. When it comes to other dogs, Glenda likes to be in charge. During introductions, she may grumble or growl to establish herself as the boss, but she has not shown aggression. She does best with submissive dogs who are comfortable letting her take the lead. A meet-and-greet with any current dogs in the home will be required to ensure a good match.Glenda would thrive in a home that understands her breed traits and can give her the structure and security she needs—along with plenty of love and sniffing adventures!📩 Interested in meeting Glenda? Story
Meet Wapiti!Wapiti is a playful, affectionate coonhound/pointer mix with striking good looks and a personality to match. Weighing about 65 pounds and born around January 1, 2024, this young pup is ready to find his forever family. Named after the Shawnee word for white rump elk, Wapiti was found near Elk Creek Lakeand like his namesake, hes a graceful jumper. He can easily clear a 3-foot gate with ease, so a home with a 5-foot+ fence would be best. Wapiti is an active dog who would thrive with a family that enjoys walks, outdoor adventures, and playtime. Hes also a big fan of belly rubs and couch cuddles, striking a great balance of energy and affection. Smart and eager to please, hes learning his manners and already knows how to sit, come, and lay downhis version of lying down includes a slow, charming slide to the floor. Wapiti can be an only dog or would get along best with a submissive dog, as he can be a bit Alpha with toys and bones. He has a prey drive so a slow introduction to cats would be necessary. He also has a distinct, endearing howl when he spots squirrels or rabbits and does like to chase them so he would need a strong hand when out for a walk. He passed his first visit to doggie daycare with flying colors. While hes not yet a fan of car rides or being crated, his foster family is helping him build confidence through gentle desensitization. Like most young pups, Wapiti enjoys chewing, so a good supply of sturdy chew toys and natural chews is a must. Wapiti is neutered, microchipped, crate trained, and up to date on vaccines. If youre looking for a loyal, active companion with a gentle heart and a goofy grin, Wapiti may be the perfect match.
