Story
If you know and love the gentle, “velcro dog” nature of a Coonhound, then Scout is going to steal your heart. Scout is a 7-year-old Coonhound with the sweetest soul and the softest way of asking for love — she simply leans into you. She’s the kind of dog who wants to be close to her people, following you from room to room and happily settling nearby just to keep you company. Now safe in a foster home, Scout is showing everyone what an easy, lovable companion she truly is. She has a happy, tail-wagging personality, walks nicely on leash, takes treats gently, and already knows commands like “sit.” She’s house trained, very cuddly, and happiest spending quiet time with her humans. Scout is also incredibly social. She’s dog-friendly and has been a total rockstar with other dogs, but one of her most special qualities is how much she LOVES cats. She can get a little excited when meeting them at first and would love a kitty or two that loved her back. She has also lived with children and enjoys meeting new people, greeting them with soft eyes, a wagging tail, and her calm, affectionate presence. At 69 pounds, she could stand some extra walks and to lose a few pounds but she's up for the challenge! She’s past the puppy chaos and fully settled into her “best friend” era — the kind of dog who makes a house feel peaceful and full of love. Scout is ready for her forever family! Applications are at codys_adoption_application. Cody's adopts dogs in the greater Dallas/Ft Worth area, and does not adopt puppies under the age of six months into apartment homes. ##2741393##

Story
Meet WalkerWalker is a gentle, steady soul who deserved so much better than being left behind. When his owner dumped him, he was confused and heartbroken — you could see him trying to understand what he did wrong. But the truth is, he’s a good dog. A really good one.At about 2–3 years old, Walker has the perfect adult-dog temperament: calm, smart, observant, and incredibly sweet. He’s leash trained, well-mannered, and so easy to handle. He loves to play fetch and will happily bring the ball back over and over — but he’s just as content to settle in beside you and quietly watch the world go by.Walker has a gentle presence that brings peace into a room. He loves being included, enjoys playtime, and then shifts right back into his calm, chill mode. What he wants most is a family who will never let him down again — someone who will appreciate the steady companionship and quiet joy he offers. If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal, adult dog with a heart of gold, Walker is your guy.***Adoption Policy: Montague County Animal Rescue typically does not adopt dogs to homes where they will live primarily outdoors. We believe every dog deserves to be part of the family and live safely indoors. Exceptions may be made for specific breeds or unique circumstances where an outdoor environment is appropriate and secure.
