Emmie Lou is a 7 year old black & tan coonhound. She weighs around 65 pounds, is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and is on prevention. This girl is full of personality. She is very affectionate and loves attention and to snuggle. Don’t let her age fool you. Emmie Lou is still an active girl that can still tree a coon a lives for her walks. This girl has no trouble walking 6 miles and could keep going. She will help keep you in shape and active since she will sit by the door if you forget her walk. If you need a walking buddy Emmie Lou is your girl. Thank you for your interest in a Save a Stray pet. The first step is to complete an adoption application. https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Once the application is approved, a FaceTime will be set up for a virtual meet and greet. Since we are located in Mobile, AL, this will give you the opportunity to see the pet interact with other dogs, people, and see a bit of their personality. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   3 year old Biscuit may be a shy guy, but he is yearning for love from a giving person. He calls for attention from the window in his room. He is so grateful when you offer him a treat, but is frightened if you reach out to pet him. This cute hound is learning that being touched seems to be nice. One of our volunteers is winning him over with soft massage. Though 46 lb Biscuit walks fine on lead unless he is frightened. He need to be leashed with a gentle hand. We don’t know what happened in his past that makes him fear being collared. He was found as a stray along with another hound that seems to be his mom (he adores her). Biscuit loves other dogs and is coming to find out that people are pretty nice too. Meet Gruntilda,This beautiful bluetick coonhound mix came into the shelter as a stray so we do not have any background on her. She is a great leash walker and is very interested in other dogs. She recently played with a beagle, so if you have other dogs, you can bring them to the shelter for a meet and greet.Gruntilda is Lyme positive and is currently being treated for this, but she is not showing any negative signs.
