Story
FOSTERED IN SIOUX CITY Name- Mertle Age- approx 5 years old Breed- Corgi What was your life like before NDCB/Where did you come from? Who is your main caretaker/favorite person now? I’m attached to my foster mom but I show love to everyone. Are you good with kids? What age ranges? I live kids now, my favorites are the older kids. The 4 yr old has a little too much energy for me at times. Are you good with other dogs? I get along with my foster sister but my perfect companion would be have a laid back personality. Are you good with cats? I am interested in what a cat is but I get scared around them. With more time spent around them I could warm up. I have two in my foster home. Are you housebroken? I had a couple of accidents in my foster home the first couple of days but after getting into routine of going outside I’ve done good! What is your current potty routine? Outside in the morning, afternoon, evening and before bed. Do you like car rides? Have been on two car rides with foster mom and I was nervous both times. With more exposure and positive experience she could warm up. Do you like walks? Have not tried walking her due to weather. How are you on a leash? She has been doing great on the yard leash! Do you like toys? Yes but takes awhile to warm up to them. What is your favorite toy? Grinch face (Stuffed and crinkles) Do you know any commands/tricks? Not that she’s shown. How are your house manners? She has not chewed on anything in the house, not even her dog bed. Describe your personality- I’m still warming up to my foster house so it takes me a little bit to calm down once I get out of the kennel but once I get done prancing I will lay down and chew on my toy or take a nap. I like to cuddle and I will give kisses, but I don’t over due it. I spend the day in my kennel but my foster mom does come to let me out on her lunch break. Describe your perfect home- my perfect home would be a calm environment with a family that has time to dedicate to my adoption into the family. I love to be around my foster people but the cats do make me nervous so a home without cats would be ideal. My kennel has become my safe place and I haven’t had an accident in it yet! At night I sleep in the kennel but with the door open.

Story
I'm Noel. I'm a little gift waiting to brighten someone's life. I have a big personality packed into my petite frame. I'm a chaser, so no cats or small dogs for me. I'd really like to be an only pet, where I can soak up all the love and attentions myself. I'm loyal, loving and ready to be your holiday and forever companion. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2607619##

Story
Name- Dari Age-2ish Breed-Corgi What was your life like before NDCB/Where did you come from? I came from a breeder and then these wonderful people with NDCB got me Who is your main caretaker/favorite person now? I love my foster mommy and sister but starting to come around to my foster daddy. Are you good with kids? What age ranges? I live with a 9 year old foster sister and I love her. Are you good with other dogs? I am a dog selective. There are some in my foster home I love and some I don't care for due to this I need to be an ONLY dog. Are you good with cats? Yes. I live with cats in my foster home and I usually ignore them. Are you housebroken? I am starting to go outside by myself now and come back in. I do need more training so please don't get upset with me if I have accidents at times. What is your current potty routine? My foster mommy is home all day with me so I'm starting to bark when I need let out. I do well in a kennel and puppy pen so if you do need to leave me alone at times. Do you like car rides? I usually just lay down and go to sleep. Do you like walks? How are you on a leash? My foster mommy hasn't taken me on many walks because of the cold weather but I do well on a leash. Do you like toys? What is your favorite toy? I haven't played with many toys but I do love a good bone. Do you know any commands/tricks? I'm starting to learn what sit is but I'm a very smart boy and eager to learn. How are your house manners? When I am out exploring at my foster home I'm very well behaved. I usually follow my people around. I am starting to learn all about going to the bathroom outside. Describe your personality- I am a cute, smart boy. I am still a little scared so please don't back me into a corner or pick me up too fast. I love attention but you will have to gain my trust. I will put my cute 2 front paws on your leg when I want rubbies and attention. Describe your perfect home- I would like to be an only dog in the household so I can get all the snuggles. I would love a nice warm couch to curl up on and watch a good movie. I will need to be with kids 10 and older due to little kids might scare me.

Story
Marty came from a breeder in western Iowa. Marty is around 4 years old he has lived with a female husky 6 years old and a yorkipoo 13 years old. He has been around 2 teenagers, (16F) (14F), kids (9M), (7F), (3M) parents are (41F) and (39M). Marty is crate-trained enjoys spending time outside with Husky. Marty likes to cuddle but is also independent in the same way. He has been good with all the dogs and kids! Marty is a treat oriented dog, he enjoys short walks, will get his energy out and then relax. Marty would potentially be best in a female only house hold, he has been fine with me but apparently he does not like men. He has gotten along with our other dogs.

Story
Rusty is 8 years old. He is very chill in some ways. His hobbies include sleeping and laying in the grass outside. He absolutely loves snow and will bulldoze through it at top speed. He is an anxious little guy in other ways however. He is mostly well controlled on medication. He will need a patient and experienced family (maybe no kids). Doesn't want to cuddle much or be around us. He does protect me (one of two moms) and get activated by people coming and going. Has not been around other dogs/cats here (barks at neighborhood dogs). Reacts strongly to noises outside/people walking by. He came to our family 2 years ago in pretty rough shape - severe fleas, underweight, accidents. We have provided a good home for him, but he is not thriving with our young, busy family. We meet his basic needs and he tolerates us in return. He is healthy and vetted. On Rachael Ray small bites food. Completely house trained. Low exercise needs. Kennels well (I WFH so it's limited).
