Story
Tiny Benji is a loving, trusting, and friendly boy. He came to us from a neglectful situation, but he is ready to love and be loved by his people. He is just under 10 pounds, but should gain 1-2 pounds. We are confident due to his hair texture and other traits that Benji is a Coton de Tulear or a Coton de Tulear mix, we don't really know if it's maltese mix, it's a guess, could even be havanese mixed? Who knows! He is cute even with his crazy haircut :) He is about 6 years old. Benji is a lower energy dog that just wants to hang out with his person. Speaking of... he really does prefer to be the center of attention and would love to be an only dog in a home with humans 12 and over. He doesn’t love large dogs and we are certain this is due to his recent experience being attacked by one in his home, and he really does attach to his person. He is tiny and still a bit nervous after his ordeal, so care needs to be taken… he can get underfoot, so his people should be aware of this and steady on their feet. Benji seems to travel well in the car. His hair looks a bit crazy as it is in transition as his matted body needed a quick shave down prior to having emergency surgery to repair a broken jaw caused by the large dog in his prior home. He’s great about staying in his crate if no one is home and at bedtime and is learning to be a good boy in his foster home, where he lives with adults and another small dog. Benji will need continued consistent potty training to learn where to go and his new schedule. His foster mom has been working on this with him, but as you can imagine, our first concern is getting him healthy and working on his self confidence. Benji is an appropriate barker, sleeps in a bed next to his foster mom while she works from home, and he smiles big with teeth when he sees her in the morning and when arriving home from errands. Benji is not ready for walks, so will need a home with a small yard while he navigates the great outdoors. He will need help learning what walks are. It seems he wasn’t walked in the past, as he isn’t actually interested in walking on a leash. He may have been carried around since he is so tiny. Benji does not shed and will need regular grooming and brushing of his thick cottony hair which is already growing back. Please consider this expen$e, this is a non negotiable. His hair should have never have gotten as bad as it did, the matting and the shave down are traumatic for dogs to go thru. Keeping his hair clean and brushed is part of his requirements. Benji is open to a foster to adopt or regular adoption. Benji’s adoption fee is $300 Benji is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots. He recently had a jaw repair surgery and a few tooth extractions. His teeth will be completely clean prior to adoption. Benji is not cat tested. Please email us if you have further questions about Benji’s care to see if you are a fit and should apply- or if you would like to apply our adoption application is on website www.k9spirit.org or email Stacy at: stacy@k9spirit.org and we can email the app to you. Ideal home reminders: -Yard -Potty training consistency commitment -Patient and reassuring pawrents who are eager to help Benji learn all the great things about being a dog- including walks! -A calm home that is not full of surprises

Story
Sweet with a good mix of calm and fun...Thats our Chloe! Chloe is a 6/7 year old, female, Lhasa/Shih Tzu mix that is about 17lbs. This pretty girl was rescued from a hoarding situation where 17 dogs were kept in covered crates 22 hours a day. We got all 17 dogs out, some went to our rescue partners and we held onto 5 of them. Chloe is an amazing dog who is so sweet and friendly with people...not one bit of aggression. She is a little selective with dogs, but does have a best friend that she could be adopted with her best friend Tali, a 3 year old, 16lb Maltese mix. We will possibly consider adopting Chloe out as an "only" dog if we feel it's the right home with owners that are home most of the day and will continue socializing her with other dogs frequently. She is great on leash and a good eater. She loves affection, but is not needy and would be fine with children 12 years old and older. She does require a cytopoint (allergy) shot as needed which is usually ever 2-3 months and she does require full grooming every 6 weeks, so that should be taken into consideration when inquiring. Chloe has been through a lot and we promised her that we would find her the best and most loving forever home out there! Chloe is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. We only adopt in the Greater Los Angeles Areas as an in person meet/greet, home check, and trial period are required. Please contact us at: Gia@theforgottendog.org or 310-990-2020 Chloe's adoption fee is $500.

Story
Meet Harley! This beautiful boy is an approximately 6 year old, Bichon that is about 20lbs. Harley was surrendered to us when his owners moved and did not want to take him along. It's ok because it is their loss and our gain! We found out that Harley was basically kept inside a mobile home 24 hours of the day while his owner was at work 12-14 hours. He didn't receive any socialization and was reprimanded for going potty in the house. We brought him into our foundation and into one of our amazing foster homes that has other dogs and a full family of people to see how he did. We can see that he can be a bit dominant with other dogs at first, but with correction which he takes well, he is learning day by day how to socialize properly. He is great with people! We do want him in an adult only home as he is a bit strong. Harley loves to play ball (small Kong balls are his favorite!) and will entertain himself with one or will play with you by bringing the ball to you and having you throw it. Harley's ideal home would be with an owner who is not gone long hours during the day and will take him for a few walks which he loves. He is great on leash! He's a good eater, but his skin was left by his prior owner...completely infested with fleas which caused allergies, so an owner that will incorporate good home cooking and supplements into his meals, is exactly what he needs! Harley is a bit clumsy in the car, but does love to sit by your side. He will need practice with that. Harley definitely can be an only dog with an owner who will spend time with him or he could be adopted with one other dog in the home that is not dominant or he could be adopted with his buddy Tali, a female 2 year old, 17lb, Maltese/Terrier mix. A home with a yard is exactly what Harley needs as he loves sunbathing and helps with his potty training into a new home. Harley was not treated well in his prior home, so we want to make sure he gets the best forever family out there! Harley is microchipped, vaccinated, and neutered. We only adopt in the Greater Los Angeles areas as an in person meet/greet, home check, and trial period are required. Please contact us at: gina@theforgottendog.org or 310-990-2020

Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET DUSTIN…a kissy face, 13 lb, cream colored, 4.5 yr old ShihTzu Poodle, who came from the streets with his homeless mom. This poor baby has not had an easy life. His mom didn’t even know how old he was (she knew his birthday 12/21, just wrong year!) When he arrived, he was a little disoriented but within a few hours, he knew he was safe. He’s a good eater, very affectionate and wants to be with you all the time. He is easy to take to brunch or wherever you go…he wants to please and be your guy! When you first leave him, he doesn’t like it and will bark — but having another dog in the home who he can bond to, along with a loving family and kids over 8 yrs old, makes it easier for him to know he isn’t being abandoned. Definitely will need a buddy — human and canine! Dustin is good on a leash but definitely could use some training! He will bark at people and other dogs, so needs to be distracted. He likes to do his business outside for the most part, but could use practice. His favorite place to do #2 is against a tree or in the bushes! If he can’t get outside, he will use a pp pad for the most part. We never guarantee anyone is potty trained, but he is smart and wants to please, so we believe he will be easy to train. Little Dustin needs a home where his family will be there to reassure him he will always have roof over his head. Dustin would love a yard, another dog as a companion and of course, you. So far, he is good with everyone…dogs, people, kids. Would you allow him to be good with you and your family? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling.
