Story
Dachshunds are one of Americans favorite breeds. With their long bodies, short little legs and tenacious personalities we totally understand the obsession. It’s not often we have a pure bread Doxie in rescue. We often have adorable Doxie mixes that are always snapped right up by happy adopters but Stevie absolutely appears to be a full bred standard dachshund! This fun girl is ALL Doxie!!! Incredibly smart and super duper sweet Stevie is a lover of life. Whatever she is doing she’s going to do it 100%. There’s no halfway she’s going to give it her all and she’s a persistent little girl. She plays hard and then she sleeps hard there’s no inbetween. With her “all in or nothing” personality she loves big too! She loves people! Old, young, big, small she loves them all. She loves dogs of all shapes and sizes and she really hopes they all love her too. If they don’t she just might pester them in hopes they do. Can you believe Stevie found herself with her two puppies at our city shelter? It always amazes us what people abandon and yes full bred dogs are often included in those sitting in our shelters. One of her puppies was adopted while at the shelter but she and her other puppy Nick lingered. We knew we could find both their perfect families so they joined our foster crew. Stevie has been living it up in her foster home. She’s a very happy good girl who needs just the right home. Her perfect adoptive home would have a love of the breed. It would understand that most doxies have some prey drive, remember they were bred to hunt badgers and similarly sized animals, so small critters including cats should not be in the home or should be kept completely separate. It should be a fun and active home that doesn’t mind doggie play antics. Stevie’s perfect canine pals will share her love of play and be tolerant of her persistence to generate those play sessions. She’d totally love some human kiddos to call her own and last but not least it should have all the warm comfy spots she can curl up in once playtime is done. If you love doxies and love their happy pushy energy Stevie just might be the pup for you. Story
Sex: MaleBreed: Wire haired Dachshund xEstimated Date of Birth : 06/05/2023Are you ready for some wire haired Doxie adorableness. Now add to that all the happy go lucky puppy antics. Throw in some short little cartoon legs and you’ve got Nick! He’s like a character right out of a Jim Henson show. Ridiculously cute and so stinking fun! He LOVES everyone and everything. Dogs of all sizes are his very best friends and humans are super rad too. Toys are his absolute favorite and food might even top that. He’s seriously a fantastic and charming little dude. Sadly someone didn’t see what we see. Nick, his mom, Stevie (see what we did there) and a sibling were brought in as strays to our city shelter. They waited for their family to claim them but no family ever showed. The sibling was adopted but still Nick and his mom waited. We knew we could find them the perfect adopters so they both joined the Marleys crew and went in to foster care.In true puppy fashion Nick didn’t miss a beat. His happy energy and friendly nature have followed him into his foster home. He’s started to learn rules and boundaries cause all good little puppies need to know about those and he’s doing great with his crate training which will give him a foundation for future house training skills. He’s made all sorts of new furry friends and is learning positive social skills. The only thing Nick needs to complete his puzzle is a perfect forever home. If you’re as charmed as we are get those applications in today we have a feeling this scruffy nugget won’t last long.
